How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Status: Diamond
Hotel: Hilton Adelaide
Booked: Double Hilton Deluxe
Date: 29 September
Rate: $160/night
Received: Double Hilton Deluxe
Room on low floor, water, executive lounge access(room type is listed as exec room on their site) but that's it. Sitting here listening to construction noise.

Adelaide has a long history of looking after Golds, but not Diamonds!

Told you! ;)

Do a Tony Hancock, see if you get a suite.

I went and complained as there were a number of issues that I wasn't please with. Spa didn't work for starters, and the pool was freezing - no way it was 26. Not to mention the incessant construction noise.

Anyway, I now have a nicer room. Also went from level 6 to level 17.

Status: Diamond
Hotel: Hilton Sydney
Booked: King Guest Room
Rate: AAA $227.00
Received: King Guest Room. 1 water, cheese plate, an apple and a bottle of red wine. Temp EL access and full breakfast in Glass for 2.

Friday and Saturday night over long weekend. Usual good service at the temporary EL, shame you cannot check-in there at the moment as the ground floor check-in staff are so-so at best. Hotel full on Saturday so no upgrade, or so I guess. Got a very blank look and no response at all when I made a courteous inquiry about the possibility of an upgrade.

Status: Gold
Hotel: Hilton South Warf Melbourne
Booked: King Guest Room
Rate: Advance Purchase $212.50 (over the AFL weekend)
Nights: 2
Received: King Guest Room high floor. 2 water (first night only). Given Executive Lounge access without asking and late check out to 1pm (without asking). Breakfast was in lounge.

Having lounge access made this a very nice stay. Staff were very friendly.

Status: Gold
Hotel: Hilton Sydney 27th Sep
Booked: King Guest Room
Rate: Advance Purchase $212
Nights: 1 but booked 2 rooms
Received: King Suite for my room. 1 water. No upgrade for 2nd room, however both rooms included Breakfast at Glass and the makeshift Exec Lounge. I was also invited to drinks/canapes at a Manager's Function

My fav Aussie Hilton hotel, but overall disappointing stay due to the noise directly underneath my suite all day of a jackhammer working on the new Exec Lounge. Sincere apologies from Manager who wants me to contact him each time I travel there now

With the influx of Diamond status members in the last year, I have found upgrades as a Gold have been far less impressive than in the past. It would be interesting to hear from the Aussie Hilton hotels how the ratio of Diamonds staying vs Gold and Silver has changed in the last year. I suspect there are a lot of Diamonds who obtained the status via the DJ promotion after they status-matched to DJ from QF Platinum status.

My last two stays at Sydney Hilton resulting in a one-type room upgrade (Hilton Deluxe Room from Hilton Guest Room) and no exec lounge (or its temp equiv) access.

First disappointing experience as Diamond. Booked standard guest - was upgraded to level 2  sea view... That's here in Jeddah. Only one night - down from four but back tomorrow so will see what I get then. Last trip to JED for the foreseeable future.

I'm still getting exec lounge upgrades, but the rooms themselves are not upgrading as well as previously. I wonder if it is the newly minted Diamonds as you suggest? If so, then this must have been a bonanza year in Aus for Hilton ... substantial business increase for it to have affected existing status holders in such a way.

Could well be, thankfully though (perhaps), these must almost all be running out in the next couple of months or so, and as its not trivially easy to maintain Diamond I'd expect a large proportion of the matched Diamonds to drop back to Gold or even below.

A lot of the elite polish seems to have come off my stays in MEL and SYD. It certainly does feel like they are busy and struggling a little to keep up the very high standard previously attained.

Still, I don't feel like I should complain too much. I _do_ get upgrades, even if they are more modest than previously, and haven't yet struck out on exec lounge access.

Yep. I used to find it easy to retain Diamond when I travelled regularly to the USA and stayed weeks at a time at Hilton Garden Inns etc (rarely used Hampton Inns). But travelling mostly domestically this year and Sydney and Melbourne Hiltons regularly priced beyond my budget, just retaining Gold is no trivial. Will be interesting to see how the upgrades etc change over the next 6 months.

It will mean more Golds to compete with !

Status: Diamond
Hotel: Hilton Parmelia Perth
Booked: King Hilton Deluxe Plus
Rate: Treasured Moments (alone :)) $176
Nights: 1 (a Saturday)
Received: Queen Hilton Deluxe Plus (despite the name, this is a step up from what was booked, though at one stage in the 24 hours prior to checkin I was showing in a King Premier Suite, but for whatever reason it did not stick).

Usual palaver (free breakfast, which I rose too late to partake of, free wi-fi, letter from Front Desk manager, one welcome drink in bar - there is no lounge). The letter listed the Diamond benefits incl 2 bottles of water but the bottles on the bench had $6 tags around their necks so I didn't touch them.

When there is no water I just ring desk and advise them - water brought to room. Hope this helps.

They do for DJ WPs that have fallen though ;), who choose wisely not to take PC Gold as part of the landing.

You mean those who don't get the 4 stays in 6 months after being comped the status, or this who have dropped from VA WP to SG?

FWIW I dropped to VA SG but my partner status offers have not reset since I was a WP.

I can vouch for serfty in that soft drops by HH is not common (I have been dropped from HHG to Blue); it seems to work on a similar decision making process to how some VA members get soft dropped and some get recomped :p it's also not unheard of to be dropped of status, but given a short term target to regain the old status (e.g. 4 nights in 90 days).

Fair enough, but that's Velocity providing the soft landing, not HHonors ...

Your offers will reset once the month of extra WP benefits finish, so you will once get the HHonors or PC choices as well as the rental car and secure sentinel.

I was not inferring they do as part of the HH program, just the expectation that the Virgin comp'd WPs who fall will no doubt take the Gold on offer, which at least lets NM compete on an equal level ;).
