How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

There are quite a few HGIs that have cookies.Anchorage was the last that I stayed in.
Have also had the cookies at a couple of HIs.

Hi everyone - couple of New Zealand stays last week

HH Diamond

Hilton Queenstown
Date: 30 Sep - 3 Oct
Room Booked: King Hilton Guest Room
Rate: $NZD 191 Treasured Moments
Room Received: King Wakatipu Suite
Received two bottles of water daily and a bottle of red in the room on arrival. Breakfast for two in Wakatipu Grill. Really lovely hotel. Dinner is great in the restaurant, morning coffee... not so much. Ate at the hotel every night as it is a bit of a pain to get into town if you've had a big day. With pub/grill/room service dining and day spa treatments we did a fair sum greater than planned, it's not a cheap stay - but it is a great one.

Hilton Lake Taupo
Date: 4 Oct - 6 Oct
Room Booked: King Guestroom
Rate: $NZD 175
Room Received: One Bedroom Apartment. Ample continental breakfast for two in restaurant.
Amazingly nice Assistant Manager, great welcome to the hotel. The room was massive and really handy for cooking and washing machine. Great outdoor spa that was fun at night (once the kids left it).

Hilton Sydney - booked king, recd L42 King and breakfast in Glass restaurant ($199)

Hilton Perth

Booked P+P 25000+$80.xx
Booked: Queen Room
Received: King Room

Pretty poor upgrade and was showing as a king plus which would have been a lot nicer. Not welcomed as a diamond but we were told about breakfast so they obviously knew. As a gold we were given the King Plus last time. Also, no exec lounge. Not sure why they can't install one.

Also the main restaurant/bar is closed for dinner and lunch for renovations.
Overall, didn't really do it for me this stay.

I've stayed there a few times. Agree about the lack of an EL. However, they do provide drink vouchers for the Adelphi Steakhouse for each day (if the hotel bar is not open?), as some consolation.

Yeah, you get a voucher. for a single drink. In a pretty poor bar. But it's better than nothing, which I presume is the alternative!

In typical ADL fashion upgraded to corner exec room. To my surprise, it seems the breakfast menu has been enhanced. Not for the better either, less hot selection, less continental selection, I'm very surprised... And unhappy

I heard at BNE, like munitalP relating about ADL, that the Exec Lounge breakfast offering is getting more lame. Even the continental selection that is there is apparently quite poor. I know SYD went full continental in their Exec Lounges for some time now.

Hopefully it's not like that everywhere; needless to say, the advantage of being able to have complimentary breakfast in the hotel restaurant is a plus (where available).

Oh, and no coffee baristas anymore. Make your own at a QP style machine. :(

I like to refer to these as 'robot baristas'.

The lounge based breakies do seem to be shrinking down to cereal and toast I'm noticing. I guess providing a relatively poor selection, even when things were 'good' has motivated guests to breakfast in a hotels restaurant, which then provides even less incentive (I'm guessing) to putting out a hot food selection in the lounge.

I'd certainly use the lounge for breakfast if there were more hot choice than just scrambled egg and bacon.

Is there a better alternative for hotel selection?

Hotel: Hilton Sydney
Booked: King Hilton Guestroom
Rate: Advance Purchase $254
Nights: 1 (a Friday)
Received: King Hilton Executive (or Deluxe, I can't recall ) - all I recall is it was on the top (43rd) floor.

Got an invitation to the stand-in Exec lounge on 1st floor (poked my head in during the afternoon, but had no time to avail myself of it - it looked good). Note from Front Desk manager welcoming me and listing benefits, including 2 bottles of water. The only ones I saw on the desk had hefty price tags around their neck so I demurred on that. Free Wi-Fi as usual, and full breakfast (was fine), a couple of little chocolate things in the room. I also received a bottle of wine, which (maybe sadly, maybe not) remained undrunk. I was travelling JQi so could not take it home. It was labelled a shiraz, but was more the colour of rose, so I never got round to trying it. Nice of them though.

A pleasant, but not outstanding, stay (there was nothing, misleading water statements aside, wrong with it, just nothing gee-whizz).

Received: King Executive room. Water daily, Executive Lounge Access, Breakfast downstairs in Café at 2, Welcome letter from GM, Meringues and fruit on arrival.
Offered: Accepted paid upgrade for $7.50pn from a 38 sq. m. to a 53 sq. m. room.

This is a fairly new property. The staff were amazing. They all knew and used our names from the first day. There is a free shuttle to and from the Guangzhou East train station. I was in need of some minor medical attention; the staff arranged for me to be taken to the medical centre using the hotel shuttle and we were accompanied by a staff member for the first visit. Subsequent visits were all by shuttle.

The breakfast was sensational; the chef sourced some gluten free cereal and rolls for my breakfast each day, which was no mean feat in China.

The room had a marvelous bathroom with a bath and separate shower as well as a separate toilet. Views weren’t an option from any room.

The Executive lounge was very comfortable and the snacks were varied and delicious. One night there were 6 patrons in the Lounge. One of the Executive Lounge waitresses told us that next week, for the annual Canton fair, the Meeting room next door to the lounge is also opened up for use and even so, patrons queue up outside waiting for space to become available.

My deepest and abiding thanks go to serfty for the opportunity he has kindly opened up to us. I try to follow the “Pay It Forward” philosophy and have been very diligent in this regard to repay serfty’s kindness.

The "Pay It Forward" concept is really good. We believe in it.

While we didn't stay there, I stopped into HOTP today with the lady as we had been looking at weddings venues.

We had an appointment for next week but wouldn't be able to make it so we asked the concierge (Leo or Leon?) if it was possible to have a quick look while we were there. Not a problem at all, spending time with us showing the different function rooms etc.

While we weren't to keen on the venue, it's these little things that make me loyal to Hilton.

Shrek stayed at Hilton Sydney last night booked standard twin, received standard twin. Breakfast in Glass, exec Lounge benefits etc. 2 bottles water in room.
FWIW he is a VA Diamond on his 4th Hilton stay since activating the Diamond bennie.
