How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Status: Gold
Property: Hilton Brisbane
Rate: AP Dinner Breakfast (thought I would try this as it was a very special occasion – Wedding Anniversary 27 years)
Cost: $310.64
Booked: King Hilton Guest Room
Upgrade: King Hilton Executive
Received: One bottle of water only
Dinner in restaurant (Vintaged Bar + Grill) was restricted to two choices only and the staff were unsure of what we could order and had to request Managers assistance. Manager was only interested in upselling (i.e. trying to flog the expensive wines). The evening meal was average. At breakfast (Vintaged Bar + Grill) we were told that we had to pay $10 each for dining in the restaurant as opposed to Executive Lounge breakfast. Explained ‘again’ we had a package including breakfast. After much fuss and embarrassment they found our booking that explained the package.

The Exec lounge staff tonight were unable to keep up with the demand. The lounge was only moderately full yet there was a constant lack of glasses and wine. They seemed to be working hard but not achieving. Probably the worst I have ever seen it at HSW.

I am booked into the Conrad Singapore in January. I hope we get treated as well as you did.

Property: Hilton Sydney
Booked: King Hilton Guest Room
Rate: Fully Changeable $199
Upgrade: Nil initially (was not initially upgraded, when asked was offered exec room for $85, declined). However when mentioned my partner was Diamond we given minor upgrade to Guest Room Plus + granted exec lounge access
Other: Was offered standard myway choice of breakfast or 1000 pts
Water: None provided in room. 2 bottles provided upon request.

Was given room on lower floor, I assume mainly airline crew floor as most rooms had DND light on at 4pm. Room was very small, no sofa (which is pictured on website for room type)

Sunday night. Hotel was definitely not full, all categories of room (including executive floor) still available at time of check in and much later that evening. First time as a gold checking into a Hilton I haven't been upgraded at all (usually, unless running very full get exec floor, and always room upgrade seems to be reflected in online booking already on morning of check in). Has this property stopped giving upgrades to Golds?

I don't know the answer to that, but in my experience they are a bit stingy, even when the hotel is not full. Their room classifications seem to be pretty loose too. I asked about these recently because I felt there might have been a bit of monkey business going on. A Guest Room Plus is, apparently, exactly the same as a Standard Guest Room, but has a TV in the bathroom. The Deluxe Rooms apparently have a larger bathroom and are on floor 27-34 and 39-43, the executive rooms are on floor 35-38.

I can't remember which level the hotel rooms start at ... I've been on 27 before and I remember it feeling pretty low. The first rooms might be at 24 (??). That grey thing in the photo for the deluxe room that looks like the side of a couch is actually just a stuffed armchair .. All the rooms, including the standard executive rooms, are only 30sqm, barely enough room to swing a cat let alone have a couch in there :)

I notice that today right through to the 18th, rates at Hilton Syd are >$500 and all the low cost rooms appear to be gone ... must be something significant going on in town.

[edit: why not send an email to hhonors in sydney? Your experience would have really annoyed me. Why no automatic upgrade? I know the upgrades are always listed as "space available upgrade to a preferred room" but what does this mean now? Obviously they had Executive rooms to _sell_ but nothing to upgrade an elite into?? what does that mean? Holding onto higher priced rooms hoping to sell them later???? tsk Hilton Sydney, tsk.

I believe other AFF members have found themselves in a suite (at other hotels) when having a legitimate complain, by phone, to hhonors]

hilton south wharf 11 to 14 nov... On government rate, no upgrade, no water again today, no greeting card, and agree with Bill, exec lounge was really slack last night. Hopefully better today. linzi is now on the front desk and the exec lounge is definitely abit lost without her.

Sorry we missed you.

I did give feedback this morning to the duty manager though.

I went to the lounge at 11am this morning and checkout was not possible as the lounge was unattended :!:

Breakfast yesterday and this morning, exec lounge door wedged open, no one on front desk... Anyone / everyone seemed to be walking in.

Property: Hilton New York Fashion District

Cost: about $360 incl tax
Booked: Normal room (only 1 type of room)
Upgrade: None (High floor usually offered to Hhonors Gold/Diamonds)
Received: Normal room on mid-level floor. Requested and pushed and got the free breakfast. No bottles of water - reason given was limited supplies due to the hurricane.

Flight back was delayed due to the hurricane, so we needed 2 extra nights. However the hotel was fully booked, so booked another hotel via a phone call to Hhonors.

Stayed here over a dozen times since HSW opened and this would be our 'worst' stay here

I wasn't in the hotel long enough, it was one of those check in, dinner with clients, back to room, get up, leave, stays. First time I have not had water though, although this was my first "big" upgrade.

Received executive lounge access, breakfast in Salt, two bottles of water and later in the evening 4 bottles of beer, early check in and late checkout.
Front office staff were very helpful.
Not overly impressed with this Hilton. The offerings in the Exec Lounge both at breakfast and in the evening were IMO below par. Everything self serve, plates left on tables for a long time. Staff were pleasant but three for the whole lounge on a Saturday night !
Perhaps I’ve been spoiled by other Hiltons
