Hi All,

Is there a better chance for a good upgrade for HH GOLD at HSP or Hilton Brisbane??

Cheers,
K.

Hilton Brisbane have limited rooms. In my last stay at Hilton Brisbane I was upgraded to an Executive Room with River View and away from the lift as I always requested. No upgrade at HSP from my stay last week, but exec room access. Hotel was full with two conferences. However, my previous stay prior was upgraded to a two bed room apartment with Ocean View - great with a little one.

Slightly OT. Stamford Plaza & Marriott have the best river view rooms in BNE by far.

Definitely, but the service was so so the last time we stayed at Stamford and Marriott. They are also too far away from Queens Plaza for my wife's liking. The fact that we used to live in Teneriffe for most part of the noughties in front of the river sort of makes it no longer a novelty. We just came back from a day trip to the Gold Coast today, and was contemplating staying in Brisbane for the night and we came to the conclusion that the Hilton would be the best option (for us - the service, the exec lounge, the proximity to the shopping and the points). I must say the Stamford and Marriott definitely have nicer rooms. :)

I have a 2 year old, is it better to stay at HSP resdences instead of the non residences?

Yes. We even brought our rice cooker with us last time so my daughter can have freshly made food each day.

Upgrade: None (apparently hotel was full)
Received: Exec lounge, breakfast at Salt/lounge, 1x1.5L of sparkling water, 2 x 375mL still, fruit basket, and a personal card from GM.

A bit disappointed with the check-in this time as the HH line was busy and the other staff is not. Our room wasn't ready (it was around 2pm), no mention of the diamond status or asked us to wait in exec lounge. When my wife asked if there is any upgrade apparently there is no room for the next two nights. I think all my recent stays at the Hilton has been so brilliant that we start to complain when they are less efficient than what we are used to.

No recognition of status, or welcome back from Andreas. He did offer 1K points or free breakfast, so took breakfast. I did alert him to the second booking, which he then connected to the room he had allocated, so I could stay in there and not move. Separate invoicing though (which I specifically requested) and it was processed correctly as the Invoice was under the door this morning.

After staying here for 10 years on most visits to Perth, this was the least recognition I had ever received. Hmm....

Globe Restaurant is also closed for luch and dinner due to renovations - so over to the English Pub for a meal.

2 bottles of water, 1 bottle of Limoncello, free breakfast. I didn't go down for breakfast but my wife did and she said it was a very basic spread. Quite odd for a Hilton I thought as even throughout Europe they normally have the full works. Anyway, wow, what a room. Great size, nice layout and fantastic view out over the bay. Would definitely stay again. I thought it was a nice touch with a display of fine Italian engineering out the front of the hotel. First day a Ferrari.. Second day a Maserati.

Exec Lounge was closed for some reason so was instead transferred down to the bar on the ground floor.

Oh.. The temptation ;)
Make sure you see the Dancing on the Water show. It's a must in Macau :D

Unfortunately not the same treatment at Conrad HK only an upgrade to exec level with lounge access and breakfast.

Four free shirts pressed was a nice touch however.

A pity free drinks is only 5-7pm as they just called last drinks.....,

Well I can confirm that you can get 20% HPC discount on AAA rates at Parmelia Perth - when you get an "In Training" night shift Front Desk staffer at 5.15am. He didn't even know the discount amount, so I helped - he liked that :D

Must say awesome room. First stay at Syd Hilton. Unfortunately 2200 arrival and 0600 departure so didn't get to experience exec lounge of Glass restaurant.

What I found with Conrad HK is you need to check in at the exec lounge and tell them you require a suite. It worked for me for the few times I stayed there. I have always been upgraded to a suite even during busy period.

However, I do suspect they indeed go through your history to determine if you are a real or status matched diamond member. I make this comment because when I asked for a suite, they actually took a few mins to confirm a room for me. There was an exception where I rang up in advance and they were able to confirm the upgrade and allowed early check in at 9am.

How do you check in at exec lounge? Don't you need a key card to get up there??

I found that as soon as they saw my information at the front desk they stopped the check in process and whisked me up to the Exec lounge.
