How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

I think the water is part of the executive offering, hope you get the food offering we had last night, (and no kids doing the finger taste test to be seen, like it was earlier in the week after you left). Good to catch up, think the IC will be my home on the coast thanks to your feedback re the Hilton!
Just for markis10,
Tonight.........
- 2 bottles of large water
- Welcome back card from the general manager
- complementary bottle of Bay of Stones Shiraz (2010)

I'm on an iPhone and can't rub it in more with a photo, but when I'm back in the office, I'll upload it :-)

The exec. Offering tonight blitzed the night I bumped into you. I must say, I enjoy being down in the bar and tonight we had prawns, spring rolls, dim sims, spoons of ginger mince, selection of cold meats, some other spoons of something I didn't try salmon cup things, fruit platters and a cheese board. I for one, am very satisfied (still had a wonderful dinner afterward). All I needed was Some AFFers to complement a great dinner.

Needless to say, I'm reasonably happy with H BNE! I'll be back......come to think of it, next week!

I only received the Welcome Card the Same Wine & only 1 bottle of large water.
I distinctly recall as I woke up very parched & was searching for additional H2o which I took from fridge :D

Shhhhhhhh, don't mention it to markis10.

I thought of Croydon for my last stay in London but wasn't sure about getting back into London if I did - how did you find the area?

It's only a very short walk from East Croydon station and is surrounded by mainly offices so you feel nice and safe. 15-20 minutes into London from there on the National Rail so not a bad option IMHO. Did the job (standard Hampton Inn) but there is also a Hilton there, unfortunately it was closed over the Christmas/New Year period completely!

You got the same food we had Friday, it was very good, contrast to Xmas Day when it was Spring Rolls and mini Dim Sim with no soy in sight as the sum total on offer. Interesting that you scored the wine as have others, not too fussed on $88 to have missed out, overall the stays were great as are the free breakfasts.

Not what I was wanting to hear... Am staying at HSP in a few weeks time on complimentary nights after a debacle stay last year. Was hoping to see that my stay was a one off disappointment....

Sorry that was my experience at least!

Lower your expectations and you'll be right.

Staff seem to drift into and out of roles here. We nearly had a murder at breakfast a few days ago as an omelette took over 30 min. They were bogans anyway and thought naked and direct threats on young ladies was the way to handle why their oversized bodies were not being feed.......

I was questioned on entering the lounge As my family 'quota' of X was already accounted for !! That chap was easily dispatched but Hilton SP you don't confront your 'elite' like that!!

The staff themselves are great. As usual the management glue isn't there. The conductor is asleep. The challenge, from my introspection, is the diverse backgrounds of the guests. You will have some that save all year and let it rip at this time of year as the taxi and building trades are traditionally slow over this period and then others, savvy (?) well travelled who literally get up in the morning and decide to wing it north.....

Had dinner at Salt a couple of times. Limited menu, same specials and ran out of one key ingredient.....the rib eye....wouldn't cut it in Melbourne.

Did you post your experiences on your last visit?

What time are Saturday night drinks in the Hilton South Wharf exec lounge?

Thanks in advance

Property: Conrad Bangkok
Date: 29-31 December 2012
Booked: Deluxe King
Received: "Executive" King

They got right: Room was nice, with complementary water and some "welcome amenity cookies". Suspect it was not an executive room - lower floor, just access to executive lounge.

They got wrong: Executive lounge was nice in size but service was appallingly bad. Staff were grim faced and every beverage needs to be asked for - including a glass of water. But expect to wait at least 10 minutes for a drink in quiet times and half an hour for a glass of wine in the evening. Would you like a G&T? Apparently is doesn't need gin in it!
Appears some serious cost cutting is going on here. Breakfast items would run out and not be replaced - and this is 730am. Check out in lounge also stuffed up baggage.

Summary: My first and last stay at Conrad Bangkok.

Property: Hilton Pattaya
Date: 31 Dec -2 Jan
Booked: Standard Ocean View - Diamond Reward
Received: Deluxe Ocean View - best side for evening celebrations

They got right: Room was all white and with stunning views, with plenty of complementary water. Check in and check out at the lounge efficient. Staff were friendly and used my name regularly. Exec lounge well stocked with drinks and food and very generous during evening coughtails.
We got invited by one of the Aussie Managers at the hotel up to the swanky and uncrowded 34th floor rooftop bar for NYE to share with the Euro-riche who were having their $1K a head dinners watching the common folk below on the beaches. Deafening fireworks exploding metres from the tables (and the occassional spark landing near us (fire extinguishers on hand)! - and hundreds of floating lanterns - was a once in a life time experience. And all this on points...

They got wrong: Nothing.

Summary: Amazing hotel and staff and very convienent to excellent shopping centre below.

Currently at Hilton coughet. It's been one let down after another here. Manager is avoiding me and won't see me. List of complaints you wouldn't believe (was given room with twin beds. Told I was upgraded and given a room less than what I booked and paid, water seeping through tiles on floor. And on and on .....

Evening canapes and drinks at Hilton South Wharf are:

Monday to Friday: 6.00pm to 8.30pm.
Weekends: 6.00pm to 8.00pm.

Thanks for the heads-up. I was going to head out there mid year, but will probably end up choosing the new Doubletree at Surin Beach instead.

Status: Gold
Property: Hilton Bangkok
Date: 21st DEC - 31 DEC
Booked: Standard room in "Deluxe" guise
Received: Executive Room upgrade, but I'd probably have been better off with the Deluxe I paid for as it was 40sqm versus the exec 34sqm ... First time for me at this hotel, the std exec rooms are pretty tiny. Received water every day, refreshed in the evening with turndown, GM's welcome note, fruit basket upon arrival, helpful and enthusiastic staff. Really left an excellent impression.

They got right: Pretty much everything. The hotel was extremely busy coming up to the new year period. After a bit of an ordinary stay at the hilton KL, the BKK hilton shone by comparison - and are well aware of status, and let you know they are well aware of it.

I suffered some equipment failure during my stay, water and airconditioner on different days. In both cases service recovery was excellent, with signed GM apology note addressing the issue encountered.

They got wrong: Nothing from a service perspective. Equipment failure annoyed me because of timing more than anything, but the staff can't be blamed for that, and recovery was really good

Summary: The hotel fixtures themselves are suffering age and traffic flow, but nothing serious enough to complain about. Pool and spa/gym = good, choice of on-site restaurants = great, service levels and magic response = excellent, bars/exec lounge = very good (though exec lounge evening nibbles are pretty poor overall).

After my air conditioner died in the middle of the night depositing large amounts of water everywhere I was tired and grumpy the next morning. I don't usually give staff a hard time because such things are never their fault, and in this instance their service recovery was very prompt and good. Trouble was, I _was_ tired and grumpy, so I wanted to move whilst they fixed the air-con and I wanted a suite. The hotel was full, seriously, but anyway, long story short, I got a suite at a substantially discounted rate and though some may have felt a free upgrade was in order, I was more then satisfied, and thats all one can hope for in the end right?

I'll go back to this hotel in the bat of an eye. Put Hiltons in many other parts of the world to shame.

<snip>

Am surprised to hear about the standards at the exec lounge. I stayed here in November and nothing was too much trouble. After the first night (and I spent alternating nights here with Hilton BKK) I was offered my drink as I entered and looked after very well every night.

Re breakfast, when the yoghurt ran out and I asked for another one it was delivered promptly and with a smile. On my next stay the breakfast staff saw me and checked the yoghurt stocks and if they ran out personally delivered me my preferred flavour.

Did you raise these issues with the manager there? I suspect they would be horrified to hear about the poor service you received.

three months ago I may have asked "why alternating nights?"
Now it's "ah, I think I see"

Yes - although I was given the email address of the lounge manager! !?

Breakfast - Asked for an egg (as per the sign - 30 minutes still no egg - (2 reminders) - gave up.

Don't know if they were short staffed themselves? (although there were plenty of inexperienced staff wondering around without direction most evenings)

I thought maybe it was just me but a quick look at the recent Conrad Bangkok reviews on FlyerTalk shows it wasn't just me... appears to be an issue with a new manager?

Anyway - they lost their chance. Grand Hyatt next time.

Property: Hilton Brisbane
Date: 3 stays in the last week 1,3,5 January 2012
Rate: $88.00 - Thank you rate, 1A + 1C
Booked: King Hilton Guest Room
Received: King Executive Room - River view top floor (25) once, 23 twice

They got right: Almost everything including morning paper, alternating selection in the lounge, breakfast offered (and taken) in the restaurant and a nice gift on the second stay of wine two large waters and a card (other 2 stays had one water no wine or card).

They got wrong: No 1000 bonus points for the $50 restaurant meal promo for two stays (third stay, no meal). Staff really unsure about the whole deal but it is advertised in their flip card thingo in the room.

Summary: Three wonderful stays at Hilton BNE. Nice hotel but the pool area could do with a makeover. I actually enjoyed the lounge downstairs and although one evenings canapes were somewhat ordinary (but acceptable) the other 2 evenings were just fine. Bar staff very attentive (although occasionally pretty busy) and the restaurant had very nice meals at what I thought were very reasonable prices. There is a lovely waitress in the restaurant who is not only stunning but also has an acute sense of wine etiquette backed by a solid knowledge for recommendations and pairing advice. I bet we'll see her move up from the Hilton in the near future. She certainly would not be out of place in some of the finest restaurants.

Recommend: Definitely.
