How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

OK so this got a much quicker reply, but they still didn't really read my original e-mail, and thought I was talking about a different stay.

When I pointed out the stay I was referring to, they just asked me to send in a scan of the invoice, even though the stay already appears in my HHonors activity.

Sigh...

i haven't had much luck with either the Syd HHonors address or the diamond one. Still chasing qantas points from a stay in September. Sydhhonors just stopped replying and the diamond email address told me that qantas had given me the points. Qantas have agreed with me that they haven't so am still waiting for diamond to get back to me with a copy of the invoice...five days and no response. Am going to keep hounding them now just on principle...

Yeah, they are quick, but not always helpful. Sometimes they just ask for the scans by default and sometimes not.

It's fairly annoying when they ask for them, another reason to leave HH as I doubt I will requal diamond in 2014. Last stay at niseko village as diamond will then be Jan 2015 I guess, so will aim for SPG plat in 2014 or 2015.

yep, I am wondering if all this malarkey is worthwhile. I'm only new at this stuff and plan to give it a go for a year or so. Mainly because I am planning a really nice stay in Hawaii in 2014.
But if I have to often be chasing up points and dealing with unhelpful email responses? I dunno? see the posts about MVP program. I got a totally unhelpful response directing me to an unrelated web site

Someone here did once opine that it may be easier to pay for better rooms through third party sites.
All that said the family have just had a rather decent weekend at Hilton South Wharf

Heading to Singapore for a week or so. Has anyone been to the Conrad recently? I did a search and the comments are not good, but tripadvisor still rating it quite highly?

There's some AFFers at an FT Do right now who just checked into the Exec Lounge at Conrad... they may be able to let you know!

Conrad is fine but the lounge just isn't at the same standard of similar hotels in SIN. No complaints about it really, but the sparkling is not champagne like in most other lounges and I didn't like the layout as much. All very personal issues, I have booked 2 further 1 night stays for May and June, so it's not horrible.

Normally would stay at Fairmont or Fullerton. Not sure which SPG property I'll end up using if I defect! Probably the Westin in Marina Bay.

Been at the Conrad twice myself in the last month. Suite upgrades each time, generally quite accommodating. Can't say the lounge is a favourite but really depends on what you want. Didn't have a bad experience, so yes would stay again.

A bunch of us have been staying at the Conrad for the last few nights. Generally very good with the Exec lounge service being excellent. At checkin the guy just whisked us up to the lounge to complete everything there. All without a problem though they did misplace a couple of bags for a little while.

Two significant points are the bar is open pretty much all day and 'your guests' are also welcome in the lounge but no kids under 12 are allowed. They even got us (soft) drinks and ice-cream at 1130pm last night.

1130 PM?? You fiends, keeping the staff there past closing time! :p

That actually is one reason why I really like this Exec lounge (not that I've been to all that many). At last year's DO four of us (one of whom was not even staying there) were happily sipping away at the bubbles, when a staff member very apologetically approached us at about 11:25 PM to advise that they closed at 1100. We had just not noticed the time and were quite happy to finish up and leave (felt a little guilty in fact). And yes, even though the drinks are only 'out' at certain times, it's my experience also that they will fetch you a drink at any other time on request.

I just left some feedback saying I wasn't stopping with the.m any more until I get my points from the previous stay. The reply was as you would expect apologetic but they seemed surprised I wasn't getting them. Arrrggh.

Originally given a connecting room, but was at least able to change this. Other than Executive Lounge access no other perks - no water, note, newspaper etc. Was in the lounge late afternoon and mentioned to the attendant if they were aware of the large number of sparrows flying around. Was told this was an ongoing problem, fair enough they are crafty little buggers.

Although I don't know how to run a hotel my helpful hint is perhaps they should put a cover over food if they have vermin flying around. This management brainwave came to me as a watched a sparrow happily pecking away at the cake sitting on the bench.

Many thanks guys for the feedback about the Conrad. We will be carrying our 1yo, so I guess we might give some other hotels a try this time.

Hilton South Wharf maybe my 20th stay in 18 months over that time I have only stayed in suites (relaxation or Yarra) - can you see where this is going?

Booked - King Guest
received - King Exec

I only really realised when I got onto the floor - I suspected it might have been one of the apartments but no just a regular room with lounge access...

I called magic but they couldn't help.

This was a prepaid rate though which might influence it.

Still

Same again - exec room only - no suite again. Heading to HOTP for the next two stays (driven by rate differences) so will see if I get suites then.

I only checked in this afternoon and first impressions are great. I was warmly welcomed as a Diamond and even taken on a brief tour while being showed to my room and shown the restaurants/etc.

A nice bottle of NZ Pinot Noir and a bottle of water was waiting for me in the room with the manager's welcome note.

Staff have been the most welcoming I've encountered in a hotel in a long time. I already wish I was staying longer than two nights!

I'd love more feedback as I'm likely to be in Queenstown later in the year. The main issue, if it is an issue, is the distance from the main parts of town. Thanks in advance and hope you have a great stay

The Hilton SW never ceases to leave me unimpressed. No complaints about the room, it is difficult to see what they can do when a family room is booked, but the check in process was just poor. No mention of Diamond status or access to the Exec lounge.

There's a water taxi and a bus apparently. I'm not going into town today, but will be tomorrow morning so I'll see how it goes.

Interesting regarding South Wharf. I am staying in a couple of weeks. As a Gold member, I enquired direct regarding perks as I booked through Expedia. I received in writing that I will have access to Executive Lounge. I will be taking the email just in case...

I have always loved HSW and have been treated well there. However, my last three stays have been disappointing.....have they changed senior management? Nothing big has gone wrong, just a series of little things that have been disappointing ie room not serviced until after 6:30 pm, housekeeping removed personal champagne flutes (clearly labelled with name of french champagne so obviously not hotel stock), no water in room, no turndown, no upgrades, no bottle opener, sticking doors etc etc. as I said, all very small things but they have diminished my opinion of the hotel.

Was booked literally one hour before arrival in the car on the way from Brisbane. I'd call it expensive but it was short notice.
Checkin staff member was friendly and helpful. Directions to the lounge was given and Breakfast at the restaurant offered (wouldn't have known otherwise). Room was generally quite nice, if not a bit of a complicated design. I'd say the Melbourne HOTP Relaxation suites are much better. No little welcome gift offered (I'd hoped for the bucket of beers!). Lounge was nice. View would have been great if it wasn't pouring. Self pour spirits were appreciated. Beer selection a bit average and only four of each were in the fridge at a time.
Breakfast was typical Hilton. Didn't see any real Luke Mangan influence and the service was slow (had to ask a few times for coffee).

Generally a good stay though, however I wouldn't pay $300 for it again.
