How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

she then said there will be a 5 hour waiting time, i said im happy to wait for one. she sent me to Executive Lounge to wait.

Wow, what dedication to the cause. Were you really prepared to wait 5 hours in the lounge for a suite?

agree totally. great place to wait and relax if you don't have any shopping or eating to attend to

Certainly OK for canapes, drinks and a short wait, but for 5 hours with only basic F&B........not for me, I'd be climbing the walls.

serfty - much more than an hour for mrssimongr...

Anyhoo back OT

So I am back at the HOTP after a few stays at HSW (note last two stays at HSW have been uninspiring - no suite upgrade and no note).

Prepaid $171 rate for basic room
Got spa suite (1901), two bottles of water and welcome note. Off to see if the Exec Lounge food has degraded like HSW...

SWMBO would agree ...

As for the HOP, ISTR it was quite reasonable when we stayed there in the week before Christmas.

I am not inspired by the food at the moment - any time a cheese board doesn't include cheddar I am immediately put offside.

As much as I like the style and location of the HSW lounge I just find this one nicer - quieter and table service for drinks helps...

Great hotel, clearly English is a second language for all the reception/concierge staff. Was told Deluxe room was the only upgrade available and while nice and modern do perfer the exec room showers over the shower/bath combo. Water delivered daily. Executive floor access was granted even for the first few hours as I waited for a room to be ready as I arrived ~8am. I felt a sense of snobbery directed at me towards my age by the staff (low 20s). I was sent a survey post stay and the reception manager had personally emailed me 24hours after seeking clarification and was happy to follow up my concerns.

Quite an old hotel, dominated by UA flight crews on layovers. Room was functional, refreshed bathroom on top floor. Exec lounge (was told it was new) small and struggled with the volume of people and limited offerings but useful. Two bottles of water replenished daily and newspaper delivered. For the cost it was great to see friends in West London.

Two recent stays:

Status: Diamond
Property: HSW
Date: 2 nights, early Feb
Rate: AUD$240
Booked: King City View
Received: King Executive level 17

Upgraded room with Exec lounge access (first time upgraded in 4th stay here). Full breakfast in main restaurant. Two bottles of water in room. Otherwise no recognition on arrival or anywhere else.
Exec lounge staff good, and food choices slightly expanded on last year. But now only serving drinks / canapes from 6pm to 8pm. Early closure on weekends. Breakfast and staff in restaurant the standout for me yet again.
Agree with recent posts that the experience all feels quite average and underwhelming.

Terrific welcome. Upgraded to same floor as Lounge and good view. Welcome note with 4 beers in ice bucket on arrival. Lounge access but was told breakfast in lounge only. Food and drink in lounge pretty good, again only 6pm to 8pm. Quiet and relaxed (was a Sunday night so that may be unusual?) Quick stay only so limited knowledge of the rest of the amenities.

Lounge access but was told breakfast in lounge only.

That seems new! Especially as they were "quiet" at the time.

As a diamond guest, I've always been invited and taken breakfast in Salt restaurant. The lounge food is not my favourite and I'm guessing the breakfast up there is well below the standard downstairs!

Was told this at reception. I didn't ask the next morning or push it. Was actually nice to have very quiet lounge and the view. All cold food selections was definitely the drawback!

I think its really worth asking about the breakfast thing if you have status. I remember at the Hilton BKK there was a large sign, right in front of the main 'breakfast' restaurant downstairs telling executive floor guests that breakfast was _only_ available to them free of charge up in the lounge. I risked it and took breaky downstairs anyway and wasn't charged ... over a 10 day stay ... but I'm gold and I wonder if having gold or diamond status overrides the 'only in exec lounge' thing at some properties?

As Gold and Diamond, have had breakfast in main restaurant in Hilton Cairns, South Wharf and Brisbane - no problem any time. I'm sure if I had just gone down at SP would have been fine too, given swanning_it's advice.

As a matter of fact, we've never eaten breakfast in the lounge at any Hilton (we've only stayed at Oz Hiltons). We've always had a full breakfast in the restaurant and have never been charged for it, despite occasionally having up to 6 stay and eat and offering to pay for the extras. The six stay and eat was at BNE and when I offered to pay for the additional, the front desk lady simply said "we wouldn't dream of charging a diamond guest for breakfast because you spend quite a lot with us as it stands". Hey......gift horse......mouth....etc.....etc
