How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Does everyone who stays at HSP get the bucket of beers on arrival? Bit annoyed now that I missed out! Had to wait an hour for the lounge bar to open!

Four stays, two as scum, two as gold (via virgin). No beer

No.

Apart from Princess Fiona and now kermatu, I can't recall too many saying they have.

Personally, I don't have an issue with that. The odd "special" thank you is fine with me as I've certainly had them at other Hiltons. I would have a slight nose joint problem if it were just me not getting them.

For my own history with Hilton as a chain, the "extra" thank-you gifts have been noticeable, but out of maybe 1/2 dozen HSP stays the best I've received are two additional bottles of Italian sparkling water (actually not a bad gift when you think about it, not everyone drinks alcohol but nearly everyone drinks water). My daughter, on the other hand, received from HSP a bottle of bubbly for her 19th B'Day. That simple gesture made up for a lot of my HSP misgivings, because that and the personal card left for her from the GM did make her feel special for a short, brief interval and the delightful Laura who arranged it is one of HSPs great human assets (and there are a few of them). For the record, my daughter drinks very little grog (an occasional wine with dinner), as does her BF so it was a special "one off" for them.

As for waiting an hour in the lounge for the bar......that really stinks! This is why I've so very often stated HSP runs hot and cold. They need me on contract at some extrodinarily high hourly rate to point out these glaring "BUDGET" issues. I had to wait once in BNE for my room and the front desk lady escorted me to the bar and arranged a comp drinks tab until my room was ready. The room was ready before I finished my drink. HSP on the other hand, has had us sit in an empty, boring, foodless, drinkless lounge for hours (a couple of times now) with their lounge staff only checking on the room when I ask! I hear your frustration. At least you only had to wait an hour for a drink!

I've stayed there a number of times now. I always get the ice bucket with water and a fruit platter.

Quite frankly I'm not much of a beer drinker so I prefer the water.

The bottle of Pinot Noir I got at Hilton Queenstown on the other hand went down very well while relaxing on the balcony!

I havent had any gifts in Oz - other than someone else's gift that was put in my room...I was told to keep that afetr I called to let them know.

Property: Parmelia Hilton Perth
Dates: 9-11 Feb (2 nights)
Rate: 25K points + ~$80 per night
Booked: King Hilton Guest Room
Received: King Hilton Deluxe Room
Extras/comments: 2 bottles water (though on day 2 of the stay), welcome letter from Front Desk manager, full breakfast, one complimentary drink (there is no lounge here), turn down service with a couple of little choccies, staff very friendly and efficient. Some don't like the dated interiors here, but I don't mind them at all. An exec lounge would be nice however.

As Gold and Diamond, have had breakfast in main restaurant in Hilton Cairns, South Wharf and Brisbane - no problem any time. I'm sure if I had just gone down at SP would have been fine too, given swanning_it's advice.

On the subject of breakfasts, can I commend this thread on FT:

Gold/Diamond Breakfast at Hilton family properties (master thread) - FlyerTalk Forums

It has a huge list of breakfast options for many Hiltons worldwide, and the owner of the thread keeps it up to date. I submit lots of entries to that one. It shows that most Hiltons in Australia will give you a full breakfast in the restaurant, so you're not limited to just the Lounge.
