VIP treatment: Very friendly staff and great recognition of Platinum status without mentioning it. Also received an apology from GM as well as a cheese platter as the Accor website was not playing ball when i tried to book and had to bool by phone instead

Access to executive lounge N/A

General comments: Situated not far from Roma Street Station which is handy, room was very large compared to Ibis in Sydney i have been to. Couldn't believe room price was only $78 / night on Red hot rooms (would have cost more for a taxi home . )Special mention to Rochelle (assistant manager)who couldn't do enough for me when the website was down . Wouldn't hesitate to use this place again :)

Early check in/late out: Not required but were offered late check out

VIP treatment: As above and also this property has free secure parking included

General comments: The location and staff are excellent. Shame there's not a bar or restaurant but understandable as it is an all apartment property. There are however several restaurants in the vacinity. Nice place to stay :)

General comments:

While I’m always grateful for an upgrade the executive room is nothing to rave about. The executive suite is another story.

We selected this hotel based on walking distance to the old quarter. If we return to Hanoi I would choose the Sofitel plaza over the Pullman based on the quality of food and beverages available at the Sofitel exec lounge. Generally speaking the food at the Pullman was ok and you wouldn’t starve; it just wasn’t five star. The staff are attentive and always smiling.

Never got that kind of love at the Pullman Hotels when I was platinum...
Read somewhere that Accor is lifting their game, especially with their treatment of elite guests. So far, Pullman seems to treat its Elites really well. At Hilton, you only receive welcome platters on milestone stays (if you are lucky) but this seems to be a standard rollout for Pullman? I've over exceeded my HHonors requirements for 2016 so will be trying more Accor hotels if the prices are comparable as the service have been very impressive to date.

Can i ask whether or not your guests/companions had to pay for access to the club lounge as the last time i was there a month ago i'm sure i read somewhere in the hotel that friends or guests were welcome into the club lounge with a fee of something like $30 for breakfasts and $40 for canapes and drinks or was it courtesy of your Platinum status ?

No we didn't have to pay. I think that was not because of my plat status but because of a minor issue I had had at the time of the booking, plus the check-in guy being kind because one of my guests was upset at check-in because of a mislaid bag (nothing to do with the hotel). He also mentioned to me that allowing plats into the club was a recent innovation, which I think I had read on AFF a while ago.

Those fees you quote are correct as the normal rate I saw for guests.

Property: Novotel Brisbane Airport
Status: Platinum
Room Booked: Standard 2 Double bed, with a request for a King Bed
Room upgrade: No way
Rate: Fully flexible
Free internet: Yes
Welcome drinks: No
Early check in / late out: Nothing offered, nothing asked for
VIP treatment: Nothing at all, not even a bottle of water
Additional care: A very dismal experience all round. No acknowledgement on arrival apart from a comment regarding being an Accor member and not even really a welcome comment at that. Absolutely no warm, fuzzy feeling about this visit. IMHO typical airport hotel where they don't really make you welcome cause they know you most probably will pass through and never come back

This is awful status recognition. I would write feedback when you receive the feedback email. I did that after a stay at the Novotel Clarke Quay and the manager made sure that on my next stay things were up to Accor standards (drink voucher, mention of upgrade success, etc).

Accor in Singapore/Asia is better at Le Club status recognition than Accor in Oz.

I came to the conclusion that Oz management somehow resented the introduction of Le Club 'guaranteed' benefits.

I stayed at Novotel Brisbane (I'm gold) last week and my stay was the complete opposite. Amazing how the same brand in the same city can have such contrasting experiences.

Property: Sofitel Brisbane
Status: Platinum
Room Booked: Club room
Room upgrade: No
Rate: Discounted promo rate - club room was cheaper than standard!
Free internet: Yes
Welcome drinks: Yes x 4
Early check in / late out: yes till 12 (all I needed)
VIP treatment: Fruit box, 2 bottles water each day
Additional care:

Lounge is noticably busier now they are allowing non club rooms in, though I'm not sure how many are platinum or how many pay extra for the privilege, but I came across a few groups in my stay who were staying on non-club floors.

Wouldn't most platinum be upgraded to Club floor anyway?

I stayed at Novotel Brisbane Airport, you say you stayed at Novotel Brisbane. Different properties. I've never had a problem with the city property

Yes I realise that. Henc my surprise, you'd think both Novotels in the same city would have similar standards, but obviously not.

The city property wants us back as return guests, both for leisure and business and hopefully multiple days and will sort of try to keep us happy, where-as the airport gets us (usually) for one day and quite often for one stay only as we come and go from the airport. They don't have to win our loyalty, they have a monopoly and don't seem to care if we leave happy or sad.

usually, but not guaranteed, though I have been in the past. In this case, the club room was about $30 a night cheaper than the standard room, so I booked that instead.
Since Sofitel Brisbane lifted its game I have stayed 4 times and received the upgraded room and the Club lounge everytime. I should have stayed here instead of the Novotel Airport which is the topic of another post here

Yeh I must admit that its my new go-to in Brisbane, since Pullman standards started slipping. Parking is a bit exxy at Sofitel but this can be discussed with them, service is generally excellent although there was a bit of a mix-up with my last booking which resulted in a 15 min wait for the appropriate room to be made available. Brisbane Novotel looked after me exceptionally well my last stay which covered origin night, upgraded me from the basic room to the suite with lots of extras. That hotel is ideal for family stays when I take the kids.

Parking for a 24 hours period is $47 for self parking or $57 for valet - located right under Sofitel Brisbane.
I don't think you can get away with it or pay less (I tried as Accor Plus Platinum last time I was there and was politely reminded the above rates are already discounted for hotel guests...)
