Slightly OT but does anyone know what the pool at the Novotel on Collins in like?

Another work trip to HBA - the chap at the desk made a big song and dance about the suite upgrade, which was fine, weirdly had very limited lighting (or maybe that was user error). Breakfast is still À la carte however have seen it and the cold buffet being quite enhanced from previous visits.

Did ask on checkout about the lack of welcome gift- tad awkward as the employee upon typing the room number recognised me from a previous stay and made a big song and dance about white wine then paused and was like oh the manager moved you and he forgot the gift. Sorry will double it up for your next stay - not sure I need that much cheap wine!

Property: Movenpick Melbourne

Room booked: Superior room
Room upgraded/type: Yes (I think) - Deluxe King on Level 6
Rate: Via AMEX GBT
Free internet: Yes
Free Breakfast: Yes
Early check in/late out: Not required
Welcome drink: Yes, one voucher on app

Only keep coming back here because of ease to the office in Melbourne, otherwise I'd probably pick either Pullman to be honest. Breakfast is probably it's strength otherwise it's very vanilla - with useless towels!

Disappointing to have zero options to eat anything after 9pm (late flight in) - even room service is not available.

Property: Novotel Geelong
Status: Platinum.
Room booked: Standard King Room w/Balcony
Room upgraded/type: No (was booked out for the overnight stay)
Rate: $360 😓
Free internet: Yes
Free Breakfast: Yes - didn't use
Early check in/late out: Early Check-in at midday
Welcome drink: Yes, two vouchers
Welcome gift: Yes - 2x waterbottles and bottle of Shiraz

In Geelong for a wedding, so thrilled to get the early check-in! Hotel is totally fine, horrendously expensive for the weekend. All the staff we dealt with seemed to be quite cold and dismissive, which was weird. Parking is $40 - which we had to use as couldn't move the car before the wedding.

Their restaurant closes relatively early but if you're there for normal dining hours, Miss Mi is really good modern Asian fusion.

It's in the internal courtyard which all rooms look down into. It's not long enough to do laps in. Not very inviting actually as an adult. I stayed on a weekend and it was always full of kids so I couldn't take a photo.

Property: Swissôtel Nankai Osaka
Status: Accor Plus Silver (I'm Accor Plus Gold - didn't make the booking)
Room booked: Standard room
Room 'upgraded'/type: Standard room (asked for lounge access due to honeymoon & granted)
Rate: $30
Free internet: Yes
Free breakfast: Yes in lounge or within the rooftop restaurant
Early check in/late out: Yes, late checkout offered until 1pm
Welcome drink: Yes, Voucher in the app x2 (Silver)
Welcome gift:Nice selection of chocolates

Small room in comparison to the Hilton Osaka but close walking distance to restaurants/ night life and easy access to & from KIX airport (via Namba express). Shopping centre below and very easy access to the metro.

Lounge was small and cozy but had what you needed, basic room had a coffee pod machine which was great although beds were not as comfortable as expected.

Rooftop restaurant has a 360 degree view of Osaka and a good selection of buffet breakfast options
