We stayed here for five nights last week. Didn't get anything offered except the late checkout. From a room perspective it didn't matter, as the one we had was a great size, with a separate space for a large couch, armchair and coffee table.

Great location above Nangang station which has MTR, Taiwan Rail and the northern terminus of the High Speed Rail.

Last weekend we decided to do a staycation at the Grand Mirage resort. We usually visit Gold Coast for the day and spend the day at Mermaid Beach but this time decided to try a bit different.

Had applied NUA for Top floor Ocean view room but was declined and given an upgrade to a spa studio room with a lovely view of the Seaworld dr road which is in front of the resort.

There were plenty of suites available but they didnt offer one - didnt bother asking as well.

This is probably one of the few times of all my stays in Australia where I havent been upgraded to a suite.

Got free parking though - the check in agent insisted that Platinums get free parking, I have never heard of it as a benefit but may be this property offers it. Saved $25.

The hallway was dirty with shabby carpets and the walls showing signs of wear and tear. Room wasnt that much better either.

The sheets on the bed were actually torn in some places.

Safe to say that this is the worst Sheraton Grand in Australia - I have stayed in all three.

The location is the only good thing about this resort and we walked for about 2 hours to the northern most tip and back and it was completely deserted except for may be 2-3 folks

Breakfast next morning wasnt that great either - no vegan options at all for my wife - she just had fruits

Safe to say we would not be returning to this resort. Have stayed at 2 hotels in gold coast and both of them have been a disaster.

This wasnt as worse as the MVC property as we had to leave the hotel because of the horrible smell of the pillows and the sheets.

Will try JW once - I have had lovely experiences in other JW properties before - hope this one doesn't disappoint.

One last thing - couldnt find a tap anywhere after entering the resort from the beach to wash our feet, had to use towels to dust off the sand.

The Sheraton Grand at Main Beach is somewhat in limbo, after being acquired by new owners about 18 months ago. Plan looked to be a full, very needed and way overdue renovation, and a good chance it will end up under a new chain, post that. The group who acquired it have a majority of their assets under Accor Hotels.

Have stayed at the JW about 18months ago. got upgraded to one of their vacation apartments. better than a suite in area. It was nice but it does tend to be expensive.
JW was insanely priced for my dates. But I definitely want to try it out once.
 
This property does not deserve to be Sheraton Grand. Reminded me of the Sheratons in North America - have stayed at a bunch of them.
Agreed - some of my earlier stays, after it was branded as such were alright, with excellent service & quality F&B making up for the shortcomings of the hard product, but over time, all these areas have declined. It's simply no longer worth the sticker price.

They'll have to do something soon, even if it's not a rebranding, as there's signifcant development over the road at Marina Mirage that will see a Ritz Carlton AND a new Mariott Luxury Collection property both opening in the next few years. Calling the Sheraton Grand a 5-star resort, when you have these over the road, shiny and new with white-gloved service, would be very bold.

To be fair, some of the villas looked pretty good (in better condition than the rest of the resort), and you could do your own thing in terms of F&B when in these, as well. They were always booked out or too expensive for my liking, when I checked them out, so never got to try.

Been lucky as pre COVID got to try a couple of the villas. They were fine but that’s years ago now

Check In : My flight into Adelaide was delayed, so while hoping to make it in by 18:00, I actually didn't arrived till 18:50. Hors d'Oeuvres service is 17:00 - 19:00 so was afraid i was going to miss it.

Prior to arriving, I called up the hotel to inquire about the holding deposit, and can I use a new card on arrival, which was told was not a problem.

I checked in online, however upon arriving there seemed to be an issue as the system wasn't showing the free night, or there was an issue with the account as it still had my cancelled credit card on file.

At this point, after delayed flights, I was a little hangry, so asked if we could fix this issue, as I was wanting to get upstairs to the M-Club to get something to eat before service stopped.

The staff were wonderful, and had me escorted up, and asked that I come down back to reception after I finished my meal. A quick bite to eat, and a drink and I was back down. Provided new card at counter for incidentals, and made my way to room.

Given the option of 1000 points, wine, drink or a reusable drink bottle, but I have lots of those so went with the standard 1000 points.

Being a newer hotel, the finishes are great and am having a wonderful experience. My room was huge, bathroom and shower on the left, walk in wardrobe and toilet on the left. Bed area straight ahead.

Having - as I am currently typing this from the M-Club lounge. I have a flight at 22:30, so when speaking to the lounge staff earlier about my flights, they said when I checkout at 16:00, to come back up to the lounge and I can pass the time here, which I am currently doing.

Breakfast in the restaurant was great, busy morning but got a seat right away. Ordered an omelette, coffee (barista made) and had some fresh watermelon and pineapple. Coffee machine in the restaurant that you could also use if required.

Overall a wonderful experience, great location centrally and will definitely be back in future.

Apologies no pictures of the room, had a video but can't upload it. But you can find the M-Club rooms online.
