How long for complimentary hotel status to come through

I'm in the same situation as kpc .

I think we are all in the same position, and it sounds we should just activate the Velocity Upgrade right now and we should be HH diamond until March 2014.

I might give HH a call first and ask specifically about my own account and how long I would retain the diamond status. Customer service has always been good.

As it turned out, I earned Diamond not long after getting comp'd as one AFF member knows - I'm not slow to flash the letter around

Pretty much all of the first run of VA hotel status upgrades have cards going out to March 2013 essentially making them Diamond as if they had qualified in 2011 (which they sort of did). In theory if you qualify for Diamond in 2012 at any point you should be Diamond until March 2014.

My Status was updated after only a few days. My (sodden, thanks Australia Post) HH card arrived yesterday and it says I'm diamond until 03/2014 which I am VERY impressed with.

First nights already booked at Waldorf Hilton London in June..... Looking forward to the benefits.

I'm a little confused. I'm Hilton Gold til March 2013. If I apply my Hilton Diamond offer now and have 4 stays in 6 months, I probably will be Diamond til March 2014 (not March 2013) based on what I read above...Is that correct? If I wait to activate it in June this year, and have 4 stays within 6 months, I think I will definitely have Diamond til March 2014.

Options are:
Work on retaining Gold through stays /base points this year. Gold status through to March 2014
Activate the VA offer, Instant Diamond, do 4 stays and then I will be Diamond until March 2014.
I think there is no advantage to waiting to activate the Diamond offer now that its 2012 ?
In fact I will probably be able to change a couple of booking room types as I will have guaranteed Exec Lounge access which I don't currently get as Gold.

My understanding is hotel's look at the status only a day or two out from arrival so it shouldn't be a problem.
