Re: Complimentary Elite memberships for Platinum and Gold Members

I'll ring them on Wed as that's day 20 and online is just Gold still.

Funnily enough about 2 weeks after putting my request though online for the comp diamond status, Hilton sent me another Gold card....

I am thinking the process may have not worked correctly.....

See what they say Wed and I'll post back

My experience (and I think most of the others') is that it is completely unpredictable when it will come through. Mine took longer than 20 days (despite me emailing Velocity as I had a stay coming up around day 20), and I never received an email from HH - just noticed one day that my status had changed to gold. My colleague opted in two weeks after I did, and he must have been upgraded in less than 10 days, because when we both checked in at the same Hilton hotel, he was upgraded to the Executive Floor, etc etc.... According to an email I just received, Velocity are still looking into it, 3 weeks after my last email.

So I would continue to follow up if I were you, seeing that you have stays coming up.

Re: Complimentary Elite memberships for Platinum and Gold Members

I rang up on Friday night as I decided to wait a few more days to bring it to 18 working days, or thereabouts..

The girl on the phone was lovely but said there is no real way of chasing this up, and there are "hundreds" of people currently chasing up their status upgrade with Hilton

She said sometimes they come through straight away, other times they don't go through at all.

She said all she could do was submit a form and they "sometimes" get back within another 20 working days!

The only other advice was to call up after 10 working days if the upgrade to Diamond has not gone through.

Seems to be a very haphazard way to treat customers, I know this is out of VA's hands but it is an offer they have chosen to put out there, and I would have assumed Hilton would be a little faster to get more potential high value customers into their hotels.

I have quite a few Hilton stays starting this weekend coming up, so looks like I'll be stuck at Gold for the first couple!

Re: Complimentary Elite memberships for Platinum and Gold Members

I've chased up mine, and all they created was an account for me and i'm still stuck on Blue Status :(

Re: Complimentary Elite memberships for Platinum and Gold Members

I would have assumed Hilton would be a little faster to get more potential high value customers into their hotels.

When I was first processed by Hilton (during the process, which HSW knew about) I was trying to book HSW and it was almost comical. In the end I stayed elsewhere and $1500 for two nights was lost to Hilton. Since then however, I've found the four other Hiltons we've stayed at to be excellent so all I can suggest is be patient, first impressions don't appear to be overly important for Hilton, whereas the paperwork is all important, but they seem to come good once they warm to you . I've got HSW booked for four nights in June, so I'll see how we go this time round. From the reports it should all be fine.

Time for a phone call. They have had the 20 business days they asked for.

Let me know if you get the "All we can do is fill out a form, and they may or may not get back to us in another 20 days, if you haven't heard from us/them in 10 days call us back"

I'm going apologise in advance for this question, as I'm sure it's been asked answered earlier in this thread. I did search, but this thread is getting so long it's hard to find current information efficiently.

That aside: have the AFF collective figured out how strictly Hilton are enforcing the 6/12 months part of their status match - is it exactly 6/12 months, or are they rounding up to the nearest March (which, from what I've read, is Hilton's status anniversary date)?

I'm trying to figure out, if I (for example) claim my HHonors Diamond status match tomorrow, whether it will last until 1 Nov 2012 or March 2013, and likewise if I meet the 4-stay requirements, whether it'll last until 1 May 2013 or 1 March 2014.

Thanks.

YMMV with this, reports have varied (a bit like the enrolment success/failure reports.

The only thing that should really be guaranteed is the 12 months if you have 4 stays in the next 6 months. The are reports of Sept 2011 enolees getting Diamond cards showing expiry of March 2013.

No-one matched has had the status it for the 12 months as yet.

Most (it would seem) are rounded out to the next March (apply now, get 03/2014). I'm only aware of one member who's posted that they have been bumped back due to not meeting the 4 stay requirement, but that said, that same member only received an expiry of 03/2012.......go figure. All in all, it's as clear as mud!

Thanks - and apologies, I thought enough time had passed that some people would be past 12 months.

Thanks - I assume you meant apply now, get 03/2013?

Given the continued uncertainty I guess I'll wait until the start of June to ensure the 12 month match covers a planned USA trip in May next year, and anything beyond that is a bonus.

Swanning_it really means March 14
Hilton status when first earned is generally granted for the calendar year first earned, the subsequent calendar year plus 3 months.
Earned/ Comped Diamond now, status theoretically until 2014.
No-one really knows whether or not the Velocity 12 month stipulation will eventually be applied. FWIW I have been advised on the phone by Hilton and my card states exp March 14
Personally I doubt that Hilton will re-set their software to allow for the nuances of Velocity Diamonds ;)

No. It's 03/2014 expiry, as written. That's the experience here.

Oh right - excellent :-) I think I'll still be cautious and wait until 01/06 before requesting my match, but if it then lasts until 03/14 that'll be excellent!

Re: Complimentary Elite memberships for Platinum and Gold Members

Finally needed to use the complimentary HH Gold "upgrde" as I fell to Silver from 31/3. Phoned the CS Centre and was answered by a lovely girl stating the "Gold Membership Line" (IIRC) and 2 minutes later after giving my membership number, got the confirming email from Velocity:

Velocity said:
Dear Mr Wilson,
We are pleased to confirm that you have selected to receive a complimentary 12 month membership into the Gold Elite tier of the Hilton HHonors™ program.

Hilton HHonors™ will be in contact with you by email to complete your membership in up to 20 business days. Please ensure you check your email account during this period, including your junk mail folder. If after this time you have not received any correspondence, please contact Velocity Frequent Flyer on 13 18 75.

Kind Regards,

The Velocity Frequent Flyer Team

Now to await HHonors to send it out to me :D

Above was posted on 23 April (the day I rang Velocity and it was done over the phone). Just logged on today (been checking regularly) and I now see my details have changed to: HHonors Gold

Woo hoo!!

Now to await the membership pack to see the date - will advise when received for those interested.
