How much have you flown in 2013?

So I was re-reading this thread thinking, Hmm I don't fly that much, but something looked interesting in the figures upto now (to me at least):

Top 10 sorted by Segments, ie number of individual times you've stepped onto a plane
140108_AFF2013STATS_SEGMENTS.jpg

Top 10 sorted by Distance, ie the distance you've flown in total
140108_AFF2013STATS_MILES.jpg

Top 10 sorted by Distances/Segments, ie how far you flew each time you stepped onto a plane, I call it "Haulage".

and there I am :P

ETA: oh yeah I definitely missed a few posters, because not enough information was provided to include into the table.

WOW thanks for that made very interesting reading :D

With the raw data from openflights.AFF you could come up with some other interesting metrics, say treating flights to-from the same city within 24 hours as a connection and calling them a single journey:
* Total number of journeys
* "Why fly direct?" - number of connections divided by number of journeys
* "Are we there yet?" total flight time divided by number of journeys
...

Can't believe someone contrived an AFF list that included little old me - very well done SeatBackForward

You've shown up on the same list as me, the one that says, I might not have flown much, but each time I took off, I went a long way.

According to my BA97 data, 48 flights for 54,142 miles (86,627 kms) in 2013 with only 2 international sectors (SYD/DXD/SYD).

Still need to massage the data so I can get it across to Flight Tracker. One of my projects.

Goodness, there are some serious flyers here.

(Wondering if a few have taken the lying typo in the EDM literally. Yes, yes, just kidding)

Love it.

Not 100% sure of the miles, but my year looked a bit like this:

Disarm Doors and Crosscheck: 2013 - A SINGLE ORBIT

Hoping 2014 is equally interesting...planning a white Christmas in Japan which will be a nice way to end it.

Happy travels, everyone.

Ben
If you took those photos, kudos sir! There's some brilliant photos there!

I've stopped tracking my miles for the past 6 - 8 months, but I racked up about 4,000 SCs over the year and also had some award flights on QF and SQ which did not count to the SC tally, so not quite sure.

You came up 15 out of the 61 entries I made for "haulage", im guessing mostly long haul flights? mostly over about 6hrs length?

Sorta. I managed to route my ORD trip through SE Asia. The JQ Dreamliner inaugural day trip is what kept me out of the top 10.

LOL... Just saw SBF's post.. and realized I'm (just) in there in the top 10 distance flown. Now that is REALLY scary...
Hoping this year will be a little different...

Dammit this was probably my one and only chance to make this table! I'll never fly as much as I did in 2013.

I did 95 segments and 110,406 miles. That puts me 8th on the segments table. Time to bore offline friends with this fun fact.

Sorry for not including you both, I can run the tables again if desired, and as I said, some have not been included due to incomplete information that would otherwise have them on the list.
