re: How to Calculate Points/SC's for Qantas flights? [Pre "Simpler & Fairer"]

Just had a question regarding LHR-JFK-CDG on AA J but booked as QR. It doesn't give me the option on QF to select QR for calculations so would I get SC's based on the AA selection or 0?

It would be based on QR earnings:

Frequent Flyer - Flying Qantas & Partner Airlines - Flying with Partner Airlines - Earning Qantas Points

Frequent Flyer - Flying Qantas & Partner Airlines - Flying with Qantas & Jetstar - Earning Partner Airlines

Folks - am I mising something here: the new Qantas Points Calculator gives points and SC's for CMB-SIN (or vice versa) as zero, even when flying business . However, the "Earning Points" guide for Sri Lankan has a "Popular Routes" section which quotes CMB-SIN in Y as earning a minimum of 1705 points, hence busines must also earn...... I assume that it's just a glitch in the calculator?

I have some MH flights which are booked as codeshares operated by CX and TG. I assume that I will only earn status credits with my CX flight from HKG-KUL and not KUL-BKK with TG as stated on Qantas' website?

points and Status Credits are not earned on codeshare flights operated by airlines other than oneworld® Alliance Airlines

Hi everyone, Merry Xmas to you all! I need some help. I have booked UL flights CMB-SIN-MEL in J with UL flight numbers. I am unsure if I will earn any SCs on the SIN to Mel sector. Can anyone confirm if I will earn SCs? or point me in the right direction. thanks for your help.

re: How to Calculate Points/SC's for Qantas flights? [Pre "Simpler & Fairer"]

I have searched unsuccessfully for clarity on Points/SC earned with a Partner Oneworld Airline when using the QF flight number for a codeshare.

Using the Qantas Points/SC Calculator I can either enter AY or QF with Business class travel and lifetime silver for the relevant flights
Entering QF instead of AY gives twice the number of SCs and about double the points.

However, I am not confident that the QF selection is valid in the calculator when it is not on Qantas Metal.
Could someone please advise as I could pay the extra on my ticket if there are worthwhile rewards?

The change in Oneworld Partner SC rewards is one of the most disappointing modifications that QANTAS has made.

I had the same issue today when Looking at a J... Brisbane-Dubai-Paris-Dubai-Brisbane, on Qantas online booking engine said I would get approx 580 SC. However, I recall QF and EK had a falling out, so no status points with EK. When I rang the Qantas booking people today, they said the online booking system was incorrect and "assumed" you were flying Qantas metal....and if you want to find out what SC you will earn and you are not using 100% QF metal, they will check your flight details first. Got to read the fine print in the Terms and Conditions. I need 520 SC to get over the line for Plat.

What falling out? There has never been SC's earned when flying on an EK flight number since the partnership started in 2012. It has always been miles only.

Hi Mannej,
Sorry, should have been clearer, I mean when flying on EK aircraft with QF flight number. I suppose QF are trying to encourage you to fly all the way with them where possible and stay on their metal. I'm all for this when they go where I want to. For me to fly to Dubai from Brisbane, we have an evening EK435, but now no SC. To get SC, I have to travel first to Sydney and pick up QFA1/QFA9. But, I do not need to go to the UK. From Dubai there are lots of EK flights(with QF flight numbers) into Europe, alas now with no SC. So, it looks like we have to go to the UK and shuttle back to Paris....do what we need to do in Europe for a few weeks then shuttle back to London and pick up the big girl and back home.

I think you are mistaken - QF flight number on EK metal most definitely earns SC's.

I still don't get what you are getting at.

re: How to Calculate Points/SC's for Qantas flights? [Pre "Simpler & Fairer"]

Hi Mannej,
I hope you are right, as my thoughts were I got SC on EK a/c with QF flight number...

Conversation I had today with QF booking people about SC. I said to them that the online booking system said I was going to get X SC for our planned trip on EK metal with QF numbers to and from Europe and wanted to confirm SC. She said No, you will not get the SC on a EK aircraft even with a QF flight number. She thought the online booking tool was 'wrong'....I thought this was incorrect and I said I will call the FF people Monday and confirm!!!

We may earn less SC on EK metal, but sufficient to qual Plat....

Anyway, I will talk to QF FF and confirm, if so, great as that makes our trip better. We get to try the EK 380 in J. and do not have to go to the UK.

Phone operator is confused and quite clearly so. The only caveat regarding QF codeshares on the earning table are by those operated by Jetstar. The rest will earn as per the QF earn rate.

You will not earn less SC's because it's a QF flight number on EK metal. You will earn as per the earning table.

re: How to Calculate Points/SC's for Qantas flights? [Pre "Simpler & Fairer"]

Yes Mannej, this is where I came in this morning when I worked out the same and asked QF to confirm.....not a good decision, should have waited till Monday when FF office opens...Dug this out of my not read reading matter which answered my questions....

Emirates cuts Qantas Frequent Flyer points on business class, economy flights - Australian Business Traveller

An extract......"However, Emirates flights booked under a Qantas QF flight numberthrough the airlines' codeshare agreement will continue to earn a full serve of frequent flyer points and status credits".

EK metal QF flight number earns SC. EK metal, EK flight number no SC.

What has been member's experience booking Finnair when returning from say HEL-SIN-SYD, the SIN-SYD leg on Qantas metal? Doing dummy booking on Finnair site it indicates Qantas as carrier with an AY flight number. Will SC's be calculated as a partner airline or a Qantas flight?

Can you do the booking on the Qantas site to see if they have a code share flight with Finnair? Also, are you stopping in SIN, or transiting through? From what I learnt about SC, if you are flying on some one else's metal, you need the QF code share to qualify for SC. As you will be in QF for the SIN-SYD leg, you should get the SC ok for this leg
