Re: HSBC QF Platinum - 20K points (+2 QP passes) - $199 Annual Fee [extended] to 30/0

I was conditionally approved for this (subject to pay slips), so send in the documents and now I log in and it says my application is rejected. Strange. Maybe they cottoned on to the fact that I had more than the 1 card I mentioned on the application form. Who knows. But HSBC service in Australia has never been good.

Give them a call if you really want to continue.

I had an issue with sending them what they actually wanted in the first instance - and the website said I was rejected. On calling, they said I wasn't rejected, but they were still waiting for my second set of docs (which I had sent, but they got 'lost'). Soon after I posted the second lot of docs for the second time, the card arrived in the post.

HSBC Qantas Platinum Credit Card Offer | HSBC Australia

Now offering 35,000 bonus points when you apply by 30th November (instead of the usual 20,000). Again includes 2 Qantas Lounge Passes. Still with $199 annual fee.

A very generous offer.

Irritating - got it a few months ago with the usual 20,000 only.

With an ebay value of $100 for the two passes, this is a pretty cheap 1:1 earning card with a nice bonus QFF.... Does one qualify for this if they already hold a HSBC card such as the QEDRCC...?

Edit: Also this which is again another nice bonus...
0% p.a. balance transfer for 6 months from non-HSBC credit cards on application (reverting to the variable cash advance rate, currently 21.99% p.a.)

I suspect there will be a few churning through this one for the first year anyway...

Why would that specifically be a problem ?
Is there a limit of one card per issuer ?

Re: HSBC QF Platinum - 20K points (+2 QP passes) - $199 Annual Fee [extended] to 30/0

I was about to apply for the Bankwest QFF Platinum, with 8k sign up bonus and $140 annual fee. This will be a replacement for the QCSU card.

But with a 35k signup bonus, 2 lounge passes - plus anecdotes about having 2 years annual fee refunded, this card is starting to look very attractive, although one of the benefits of the Bankwest card is no OS transaction fees.

Just wondering what people's experiences have been with using this as a primary card - especially customer service other than card application and retention and when traveling OS?

Also someone mentioned no paypass on card in an earlier post, but the website picture looks like it has a paypass chip?

Re: HSBC QF Platinum - 20K points (+2 QP passes) - $199 Annual Fee [extended] to 30/0

used mine overseas a bit no problems at all - BUT when I bought some flights from an overseas website (which were one of the first transactions I made) they put a block on it. Was all sorted out quickly with a quick phone call, though the call centre was based overseas, I have read negative reviews of the call centres. I phones HSBC before I went overseas and told them my approximate dates and it worked without a hitch, points posted rather quickly as well. No paypass, the chip is one of those "stick it in and enter your PIN" rather than "swipe the black strip and sign" types... if that makes sense.
Have been using this as my major card since last year, no problems apart from the early block, but have had no reason to call them since then.

Re: HSBC QF Platinum - 20K points (+2 QP passes) - $199 Annual Fee [extended] to 30/0

My work has this card as a permanent special (no annual fee for the first year), but requires $60k of income (of which I am just shy of)... so I have never bothered applying... goodness gracious me it looks like a nice deal though.

Re: HSBC QF Platinum - 20K points (+2 QP passes) - $199 Annual Fee [extended] to 30/0

Can anyone confirm when a HSBC balance transfer takes place on a new card, contact centre advised within 7 days of the application being approved, however I would have thought you would need to activate the card. Appreciate anyone that has gone through the process confirming when the transfer actually takes place?

I applied online on 31/08, with immediate approval, and the balance transfer went through on 04/09. I haven't been home to see if the card has arrived in the mail, so no activation was necessary. A very smooth and easy process.

I have been approved and made the first purchase on this card almost 3 months ago and I'm still waiting for the bonus points to post.

HSBC is now telling me that they may not even bothering to give me any bonus points after all!!

I wish I could say it was a smooth and easy process for me overall! :(

Re: HSBC QF Platinum - 20K points (+2 QP passes) - $199 Annual Fee [extended] to 30/0

I obtained this card in August also, and I have not yet received the bonus points. I guess i had better contact them soon. The website does say it can take 2 months, but it has been more than that now. Annoying - I hate phoning bank call centres!

Re: HSBC QF Platinum - 20K points (+2 QP passes) - $199 Annual Fee [extended] to 30/0

Thanks for the posts, I better check if my points have come through.

I was referring to a balance transfer in my previous post, but as I did receive my 35k bonus points on 24th October, I still think that for me it has all been a smooth and easy process.

This whole process of 'bonus points', whether for new credit card applications or targeted spends, seems to be a very hit and miss thing. I'm still waiting for 5k bonus points for a donation to MS (with AMEX) made on 16/09 which others have reported getting at the same time as the transaction appears in their account. I have queried it and been told it can take 8 - 10 weeks to appear.

Re: HSBC QF Platinum - 20K points (+2 QP passes) - $199 Annual Fee [extended] to 30/0

I found with my HSBC card that the 35,000 bonus points were transferred to QFF pretty much the same day the first bill arrived. Along with another 900pts or so for what I'd spent. Then a day later (yesterday) the 2 QF lounge passes arrived in the mail.
So... so far so good. Pretty seamless.

Re: HSBC QF Platinum - 20K points (+2 QP passes) - $199 Annual Fee [extended] to 30/0

I haven't received my bonus points nearly 3 months since I got the card. I phoned the HSBC call centre this morning and the person I spoke to could see that I had made a qualifying purchase in August and that I should have received the points by now. She said will file a request for the points to be credited and I can expect to receive them at the time of the next billing statement (17 November). I hope she's right! She was quite polite and helpful and the process was not as arduous as I had feared it might be.

Double check. After being told to wait 10 weeks, they checked and my Amex wasn't the right type for this offer for some reason.

Re: HSBC QF Platinum - 20K points (+2 QP passes) - $199 Annual Fee [extended] to 30/0

My 2 lounge passes arrived yesterday so that's about 2 weeks from receiving the card.

No sign of the points though.

Re: HSBC QF Platinum - 20K points (+2 QP passes) - $199 Annual Fee [extended] to 30/0

Hi everyone,

2 weeks in and i have received my lounge passes but no sign of points as yet.

Question in relation to the lounge passes?
Can I use these in the Qantas first class lounge?

Or if not is there a list of lounges I can use them at?

thanks

I will also be re-applying for this card before end Nov - had it earlier this year but cancelled it after pts banked and annual fee reversed and expended. Will let you know if am successful again.
