IHG Hotels that recognise status

Property: HI Singapore
Status: Platinum
Booked: Junior Suite on points
Received: Deluxe Suite

This property is more like an IC than a HI with a executive club, turndown service and general decor. Got all the benefits including exec lounge which was very good. One lowlight is the restaurant which is very average and somewhat small, I took breakfast in there the first day but much preferred the club for my second day. With so many good options nearby, the food is not an issue.

Property: IC Manila
Status: : Platinum
Booked : Club King
Received: Club King Suite

It has taken a few years for this IC to recognise my loyalty, though for the past few stays my reminding them of my past & prospective stays & current alternatives have diligently held some required value.
I was told that the room allocated was the second best in the hotel from the Presidential Suite.
Well, It is spacious, though for a property built in 1969, perhaps Neil Armstrong would have been impressed back in the day..
As for my experience..
A lovely check in experience at the club lounge & welcome drink to cool off executed from the gorgeous hosts...:D
Personally escorted to my abode..
Entered the room with a lovely fresh fruit platter evident & a gracious welcome letter.
A well presented welcome gift of a universal travel adapter was well received in a logo glove.
Overall this short stay was pleasant & the usual quality IC MNL distinct charming service.
Rating.. 8.5/10

Property: HI Al Barsha Dubai
Status: Platinum
Booked: Double King
Received: 1 Bedroom Suite

Not the most desirable locality in DXB, though a sound contemporary HI property.
Several service deficiencies were experienced at this property.
1. Returned the wrong passport @ check in.
2. Script reading of check in formality.
3. Over servicing of room requirements. (Room service annoying unimportant door knocking *3 times)
4. Lax Concierge.. Map? no.. just along that road..

Room was pleasant & extra spacious.. quite hotel & lovely outdoor rooftop bar.
Rating.. 6.0/10

As promised, Pictures of the King Executive Suite at the CP AKL.

I wish I'd of taken some in the light now rather than at 0230!

Upstairs with Balcony through the glass doors

The best shower I've come across for a long while.

No worries! I would of been happy with the originally booked King Club, this was certainly a bonus!

Now if only every IHG property upgraded consistently!

Property: IC Singapore
Status: Platinum Ambassador
Booked: one room club and one standard room on points
Received: upgrade to shop house rooms for both

This visit was in early October with two kids (7 and 12), wife and mother in law in transit to England. 5th visit so used to the excellent service and received usual ambassador welcome and late check out and gift for my wife. Disappointed with the change to club access (which wasn't well advertised) where kids under 12 are not allowed in for evening drinks, fully understand the decision but with one eligible and one not on the second night we split up. Jr Vim and I downstairs in the "kids" section and ladies upstairs, still received food and drinks but it wasn't the same.

Jr Vim has been to the IC 3 times before and knows the drill in regards to appropriate behaviour, we now have to wait till his 12 before we will go back to the IC.

Property: HI Express Toulouse - Blagnac
Status: : Platinum
Booked : Standard Double
Received: Standard Double

Nothing on offer here. It seems they have "Standard rooms" and "Business rooms" which on the rack rates displayed were about EUR20 more expensive (and bigger going on the fire escape floor plan). Hotel was very quiet (Saturday night at a hotel geared for the airport businesses). On arrival I didn't think to ask about an upgrade as I expected the HIX to be a one size fits all. I didn't notice the different rooms till after check-in and we were only there for 1 night anyway (visit to the Airbus factory tour).

Property: CP London - Kensington
Status: : Platinum
Booked : Standard Double (advanced purchase)
Received: Duplex (2 story) suite.

This hotel seems to be consistent in offering upgrades to IHG members. We were very happy to receive the upgraded room (when offering upgrades though, they don't include access to the Executive lounge which would be provided with a booking of this room type). Lounge/workspace downstairs and bed/bathroom upstairs. A nice 3 night stay to finish off our trip (though the breakfast buffet was disappointing).

Property: Crown Plaza, Gold Coast
Status: Platinum
Booked: Standard Room on Senior's discount
Received: 21st Floor, not sure what room but nice view of the ocean and beach

Welcome letter (and at reception) etc., plus invited to drinks with the GM. Unfortunately I was out at a seminar and didn't get the invite (slid under door) until I returned about four hours after drinks had finished: Bugger!

Gee, last time I was there ( as a Plat. ), I just got the two voucher cards for two 'standard' drinks at the sleazy bar out the back of the hotel ...

I think I read markis10 saying he liked that bar, but I'm with you.........it's a sleazy hole! (IMHO of course )

I like it because its a good place to get the room service food at half the price, yet still be able to charge back to the room, I am of an age where drinking holes are no longer of interest unless they are an "executive" establishment with reasonable (read free) prices!

Property: Intercontinental Sydney
Status: Platinum
Booked: King Standard City Side Room
Received: King Deluxe Harbour Executive Suite

Couldn't believe the upgrade as I was under the impression this property was not very generous! Turndown service included as was a suite. This is by far the best upgrade I've received within Australia. Maybe because it was a Monday night?
I'm not complaining anyhow!

In China (including SAR's) there are mandated benefits that are a little bit different to the main program for Plats:
-Welcome drink
-Free upgrade to next room category
-30% off difference in room rates to upgrade to Club Floor or suites (Club Lounge access when upgrading to Club Floor)
-In-room amenity

I'm not expecting a suite upgrade at the CP Auckland tomorrow night on my $NZ139 rate :!:

This is one property that consistently underwhelms me. Last time I stayed there, was told on check in that I have been upgraded. But the room was the standard room that I had booked. No amenities and no welcome pack. Expect free internet. Location is convenient for me that’s why I keep staying there.
