IHG Hotels that recognise status

HI Perth City Centre

No upgrade, but received a high floor room that is nice and quiet, just what we requested.

Two x Comp bottles of wine, nuts, chips, water and an Invite to drinks with management tomorrow night in the room.

The staff here have been awesome thus far.

Has anybody been to a management drinks and tapas hour? what's the story? I've got the time free and am thinking about heading down

Not sure about IHG properties (QF WP used to goto the HI on Flinders, MEL ones often I believe) - but at a DT Hilton I stayed at it was free drinks and some nibbles for those invited. Someone from management may or may not make a brief appearance.

Not in Perth, but I have been to others. One involved an esky of drinks (US) and no management in sight. Then there were the BNE drinks, which were very good too (but manager turned up once AFAIK)

The drinks are often good, even if its just for the fact they are free. However, much like AFF events, it's the conversation with fellow travellers that often brings out the real gems.

In the Perth HI, that is the upgrade - to their so-called executive rooms. As far as I can tell, they have no suites.

Possibly getting a bit ahead of myself, but I booked a base level room in CNS and the below is now showing in my booking

1 KNG STE OCEAN VIEW BALCONY NONSMOKING

Did I just get super lucky?

Pity I'm going to be in quite late and out very early!

I think that's the standard upgrade at the HI in Cairns, I've had it on my two previous stays. Not a bad room and nice to look out over the water with the sliding balcony doors open.

I haven't been there for a while but in the past I've had an invite to the midweek drinks with management also.

I didn't end up making it out to drinks tonight as I needed to pack well, don't want any of my purchases from Margaret River breweries broken on my way to HID!

Hopefully another invite will be forthcoming with the HI CNS.

Once again I'll update on what I end up with in CNS

A suite is hardly standard in cairns, they only have 1.

Property: InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto

Status: Platinum Ambassador

Dates: 28-29 Apr 2014

Booked: King Wheelchair Accessible (lowest available rate @ $239)

Received: King Executive

Late arranged overnighter in Melbourne... I was called the day after booking to confirm whether I actually required accessible or not... I confirmed 'not', and that I was just booking the lowest rate. The one-level upgrade for Ambassador was applied. Drink voucher offered on check-in. No other benefits.

I've made a booking for the Rialto Melbourne in October.
Booked King Deluxe, and was told by staff, that I will be upgraded to King Junior Suite ( as Plat. AMB - not RA in October ).
Was further told ( given I explicitly stated, I will not be RA in October ), that I can have Club Access for $29.99 a night / room )
*** Staying with two PP BOGOs, total of four nights at av. $164. a night.

You do realise the Jnr Suite is not a suite as such, but the old premier rooms.

Yeah, I've followed the 'Rialto' thread ...

But still, the upgrade ( or promise of ), and the 'RA' offer of $29.99 Club Access ( as opposed to the $80. for AMB ) ...

Seems OK to me ?

I prefer the HI down the road, real suites and the saving more than pays for breakie and drinks.
