Nice work making it to WP.

All the best for 2014.

Any status runs or travelling planned for 2014?

Thanks Phil. Part of your coaching persuaded me to do a couple of status runs CBR-SYD-OOL-SYD-CBR for DSC. It was cheaper than paying for 2 years of QP and means we can access Flounges on our trips this year (Japan and EU) and hoping for a soft landing for next year, if don't make WP.

Hotels in JP are booked and possible flights have been checked, but really would like a QF internat sale right now!

cheers :D

I didn't realise i had the ability to persuade people in taking status runs, but thanks for your compliments.

For someone based in canberra, the JASA spreadsheet that Jessica Tam has put together shows the CBR > SYD > HBA > SYD > CBR run being of particular value in terms of SC earned & a moderate Co-payment, that may be of interest to you. That is certainly a popular run here on the AFF forum.

OOL is great for the Sun & Theme-parks though, i would have to say!

Well that's great that your planning to head to Japan...... tell us more!

I've booked the flight but nothing else at this stage, i eager to know your travel plans as i'm up for hints & inspiration!

I'm certainly heading to one of the many "Cat Cafe's " that frequent Tokyo's suburbs, in order to live up to my name. lol:cool:

how do you know if you've been comp'd a year? i'm on a calendar year cycle, obtained gold dec 2012. did not reach the required S.C's during 2013 and hence they expired 31/12/13.

logging in today i still see gold, and under 'your summary' i have 'Additional Status credits required by 31 Dec 2014 to retain Gold - 600'

hoping i got lucky, but thinking it might be similar to Hilton Hhonors which takes a while to update status in the new year?

The important part is this:
Status reassessment will occur:
28 Feb 2014

What does that say for you? If it's 2014, then you've been comped. If it's 2013, then it's just staying there a few days to allow other flights to credit, prior to being dropped to Silver.

bugger! got my hopes up for a brief moment

I has 1545 SC evaporate on new years day. This time next year my WP status will do the same. At least my not living out of suitcase index has sky-rocketed.

I rate the not living out the suitcase index highly :D. At the end of the day, an airplane is just a glamorous bus lol, all the FF scheme stuff is there to try and cushion that reality.

The great thing about the Lifetime count is that, even though your membership year SC earn resets, you still have a number to look at on your profile that never forgot all that effort involved in flying. A balm to the "joys" of surviving airports, equipment failures, and other acts of god that grace the life of any regular flyer.

A light year with QF finishing Dec 31st.
Wouldn't mind a double SC offer in 2014 ...hint hint QF as I always seem to miss out as the Dec / Jan public offer was too short i.e flights are usually booked a bit further out.

And for 2014 I look forward to no spilled drinks, no dripping liquids from overhead, no falling (other peoples) luggage (laptops, bags etc), getting a seat at peak time in the lounge, overhead space for my 1 bag, PB that is true PB vs feeding from both lines at once, no a/c being delayed or going tech, no lost checked luggage, no computer system check-in crashes, no constantly screaming babies or size challenged people that need 1.5 Y seats or people that are coughing / sniffling / spitting into their tissue with no hand over mouth sitting right next to me etc etc.

We're off on 7 April for 2 weeks. Mrs wants to see sakura and Fujisan as we didn't see either in 2009. Time in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka (friend in Osaka), although we have been to each of those before.

So you are looking forward to a very disappointing on all fronts 2014 then? ;)

Made Silver again today after 3 terrible months as Bronze.
2 more tags and a pass on its way. Hurrah

Well I was dropped to QC Silver today :( A good run at Plat/gold since about July 2003 after joining January 2003.

10,210 Status credits with 98% earned on the MEL-SYD, MEL-BNE runs in Y.

Now I have to learn Silver benefits/rules. At least exit row seats I picked in next 2 domestic bookings have stayed :)

Now for the life of no exit row selection on domestic flights :(

OT: How long does it take these days to get new card and tags when you change levels?
Also do you still get a one off pass to the QP with silver even if the holder is a child?

That's a great question. I'll let you know when I get my new card. Aren't considered the guest pass issue.
