I'm feeling a bit sad ...[My SC's are getting wiped today... =( ]

Well it's now December and my 1205 SCs will be getting wiped today. I think that's the closest I've come to requalifying since I first attained WP. I was comped but did a little run to get WP in my own right.

1205 wiped today also. Will have 450 by next week which will be my best start to a new qualifying year

K

mine gone too but will have 600+ by end of Jan. Never had a start like this. Mrs drross (gold) wants to get to Platinum before her end of year(april) so we're doing a 'road' trip or two:)

I hit four figures in SCs (1000) for the first time ever in my previous year but also start with a blank slate today. Like drross by January I'll have 600 SCs and am trying to work out how my likely travel requirements could get me to 1400 SCs assuming no international travel for the remainder of the year, and with my domestic trips mainly being short hops - SYD-MEL, SYD-CBR, etc.

that's going to mean alot of short hops

Yup. I had 15 fully flexible short return trips for work last year - either SYD-MEL or SYD-CBR. By May, if I returned from CBR on the B717 at 1705, I knew I would get an exit row aisle seat - with a shadow. Not bad for Gold, and a real help to make the trip bearable for me given I made (make) it so often.

If I repeat that, and throw a few cheapie flights for family into the mix, I'll come in around 1240 SCs by this time next year. By winter, I'll be thinking about whether I want to take a status run to AKL or not, if my AKL work trip doesn't materialise by then, in order to hit platinum for the first time by 30 Nov.

Reached a record 870sc that were wiped today but with lower number of flights than previous years. My flying has changed from many domestic hops earning 10sc points each and just managing to maintain gold for the past 4 years to flexible economy flights to Jakarta and SE Asia. Ill have 210sc by end of January so looking forward to attaining status again.

1225 SC gets wiped from my account at the stroke of midnight tonight, which is always a sad feeling.
This year saw a substantial drop in flying from the 2400 SC achieved in the previous year.
Although, I'm looking forward to the new membership year with at least 600 SC already booked for the year ahead and a range of new One World Airlines being road tested for the first time, including Niki, Iberia, Cathay, Finnair & AA.

Lost 750SC today. I did take an F trip on JAL ITA > HND yesterday though, so hopefully when the SC from that trip posts (exactly 50SC) I should retroactively qualify for SG. If so, it'll be my first time anything higher than PS.

Fingers crossed.

Just missed the usual double platinum bonus ... but it is only a game

I did HND-ITM last month in F and it only credited 20 SCs... apparently Discount Economy + F surcharge = PE status credits :'(
That sucks. Time to trawl through my flying for the previous year and hope/pray for some missed credits to claim.

That being said, how would you book a non-discount economy ticket to qualify for the upper F tier earn level? I don't see anything in the fare info on the JAL site indicating what is and what isn't a "discount economy" ticket.

Tell me about it - I booked 6 or 7 non-refundable Class J flights over Dec/Jan just prior to new partner earns being announced which all went from J to Discount Y SCs. Now the F earns dropping to PE is just the icing on the cake.. Probably about 200-300 SCs down on what was planned.

Would be nice if the QF partner earn table and/or JAL had more info on which domestic fares constitute Economy vs Discount Economy, but I'm assuming you need to book the (ridiculously overpriced) One-Way Fare (+ F surcharge) to get full F rates...

Was this as per the s&f mk 2 from dec 1 or as per mk 1 pre?

The flights I mentioned in my thread were Dec 17-19 or thereabouts, so post partner earn changes.

Did you book before the changes were announced?

I booked most of my trip before the changes were announced, and they've all been credited at the Mk2 S&F earn rates (have flown a fair bit since originally starting that thread). JAL Dom F only available for booking T-60 so that was def booked after S&F Mk2 announcement.. most Class J booked prior as it became available for booking sometime in August.

Waiting until I finish my trip to get all paperwork in order and then approach QF. Also have a few bookings coming up so I might actually reach SG without the extra SCs.. would be nice to have towards LTG though.

Those domestic J & F runs in Japan were great value for money, but with the SC earning coming down on these fare buckets, it's not so enticing anymore, particularly when a number of airports in Japan are quite a way out of town such as Hiroshima, Sapporo & Narita, the Shinkansen is often so much quicker.

Indeed, especially with the new shinkansen line into Sapporo this March. Jetstar now represents better $ per SC rates vs JAL.. I wonder if this was a contributing factor in QF's decision to make things fairer.

I never travelled on Jetstar ( GK) on domestic Japanese routes, as the SC earnt on JAL was previously advantageous V Jetstar ( GK).
And not to mention the lounge access that is generally available at most airports when travelling on JAL with QF status.
GK are generally cheaper than JAL ( even when factoring in the plus bundle) and no doubt this is where QF would like their frequent flyers to book with.

MrsB got comp Gold today. We have the same sc's.
I guess I'll be saying, I'm with her when I drop back to PS.
