I'm in the VA Lounge thread

In the VA lounge CBR for 30 mins. Will be in SYD lounge at 7pm tonight for return flight at 8pm
 
Having the Virgin Hot Dog. A bit ordinary. Bread not stale which is one good thing. The breakfast fare has improved with pancakes through the machine but this is same old same old. Hog dogs and toasties after a 12 hour busy day away.
 
Be wary Virgin lounge Sydney Airport. Flights not always announced and often announced late. It has happened to me a few times now. Last night flight to Canberra was around 45 mins late. While waiting I see Final Call on sceeen. Ask at desk and they announce. Then when walking to gate announce my name and 3 others to hurry up.

A month ago there was no announcement. I get to gate and they tell me there they tried to call lounge but could not get through because engaged.

I dont think the lounge is trying hard enough on this. With flights often running late on VA this only makes matters worse.

I noticed this last week, when I used fly ahead. The lounge manager told me it was fine to fly ahead and that the flight had not been called for boarding. So I sit down and have a coffee.
The departure board changed from go to gate to final call or whatever it says.
And myself and four others had to leave quickly and their names (I think) we're being called. Mine wasn't as I flew ahead at the last minute (also weird as I thought the manifest would be updated if fly ahead is used)

I was offloaded earlier this year.

No announcement, no boarding call, no changes to departure board. Flight was already delayed. When I went to desk to enquire as to status of flight I was told I was offloaded.

There have not been any improvements since....
 
VA refused to put me on an earlier flight out of SYD so I got myself into the lounge and decided to drink them dry while I'm stuck waiting...

Speaking of running, I hurried from Mascot station on foot so I could make it to the terminal before the next flight closed. I ran for the flight closing desk and was then directed to the service desk then back to the check-in queue without any luck getting on an earlier flight. After that I also tried at different boarding gates for the next 2 flights... No wonder I was thirsty with all that running around in vain!
 
I am in the DRW VA J lounge. Can guest one.

My aircraft is delayed by two hou due to weather in Sydney. VA was kind enough not to contact me so that I can enjoy extra time in the lounge. Thanks VA!
