Re: Good and Bad

Things like this are why I love this site.

Have managed to sign up and got through to the "Congratulations" landing page where it asks me to make a booking.

Have logged into my account and it hasn't actually switched over to Gold yet. Anyone know how long this takes?

Log out and log back in.

Re: Good and Bad

What's the expiration year if you sign up (again) today?

Re: Good and Bad

I have this on my account profile

"To maintain Gold status in 2014, you need 40 more nights"

That could mean anything though? Could mean you need 40 more nights by 31 December 2013 to maintain status?

Re: Good and Bad

Oh,

I'm happy with a 2014 expiration, but if they want to extend to 2015 then even better.

Re: Good and Bad

Seems like it will only be valid until the end of next year, which would be good, because I was going to book Hilton for a couple of stays in Spain in January but am not sure I'll requalify for Gold by then.

Hilton HHonors Membership Tiers

Earning Tier Status

Members can earn and maintain Elite tier status based on stays, nights, or Base Points earned in any calendar year. A "calendar year" is understood to mean January 1st through - December 31st of each year. Members must re-qualify for Elite status each calendar year.

Moving to a Higher Elite Tier

Members may earn a higher Elite status when their stays, nights or Base Points within a calendar year qualify the Member for the next tier, as set forth in more detail below.

Maintaining Your Elite Tier

Once the Member has reached a certain Elite tier, the Member may keep such status for the calendar year in which the Elite tier was earned and the subsequent calendar year. Documentation (as defined in item #17 of Accrual of Points) must be furnished within 90 days of stay in order to count toward tier-level qualification.

... and until the 31st March after that, from past experience. :D

Re: Good and Bad

Do you think Hilton will ever go through and 'cull' those who used this to get Gold?

I can't remember where I read it, but I did read that someone apparently lost all of their Hilton points due to some sort of dodgy activity. As much as I'd like to get Gold (I just MAY hit it this year but not 100% guaranteed), I'd rather remain Silver than lose everything.
