Introducing Platinum One

All, was wondering if anyone has had the "welcome to P1 call" in the last week if they were not originally at the 3600sc level on the day of the announcement?

I received the email with the P1 info stating that i was 3590 SC (3490 on qf metal) in the previous 11.5 months, i have since in the past week cranked up another 260sc with a j trip into asia. This obviously puts me over the line for the 3600sc in the nov10-nov11 period.

As for ATA does anyone ever get asked to show a boarding pass? (except for international), build a bridge and get over people!! if your not flying qf or partner get what gives you the right to be there? do you also want any time access to the qf check in lane if your on sq?

Woxlee - there were many other examples of ATA in the relevant threads that were reasonable uses of ATA that even QF acknowledged are reasonable.

They originally offered and marketed the benefit for exactly those reasons.

On topic - I would imagine you will receive an invitation soon based on your 12-month earn up to Nov 30 this year.

If you have an upcoming trip I would call QF and mention this to hurry them along.

do you also want any time access to the qf check in lane if your on sq?

People actually do come on this site "complaining" that they couldn't check in for a BA metal QF codeshare flight at the QF counters.

I qualified over the weekend as well. No call yet.

What about if you're overseas and run into trouble? Should the Australian government not help you because you're not spending $$ in Australia on that day?

Does anyone know the number of P1's that will be on the books as of the go live date. Also what percentage is this of QF's total number of FF members....
Ineteresting question and one would think that it would be a very very small percentage of QFFers.

I believe there are ~60,000 Platinums which now make up <1% QFF members. I would be surprised if >10% of Platinums would reach Platinum One status....

It's not easy to qualify for Platinum One benefits. To reach this new recognition level, we require a minimum of 3,600 Status credits*,with at least 2,700 earned on Qantas marketed flights^ where Status credits normally accrue.

^ Status credits are earned on Qantas marketed flights (that is, with a QF flight number on your ticket) except on flights operated by Jetstar or Jetstar Asia other than in Economy classes of B, H, K, or Y (earn in L class is eligible only when travelling on a oneworld fare product).

Can anyone "translate" the ^ bit? I can't make head nor tale of the JQ clause.

Many thanks.

Flying out of BNE on Wednesday morning the CSM mentioned that she usually has about 20 WP's per flight but normally 1 or 2 WP1's.

She also said I was her first CLP1!

I was given a bottle of red on disembarking and despite my last minute booking and a full J cabin.... I had 1C and no-one in 1A.

I like that!!

[-]It means the 2700 SC's must be be earned on any travel (that earns SC's) with either:

  • [-]a QF flight number and/or[/-]
  • [-]on Jetstar(/Asia) METAL in the booking classes mentioned, irrespective of the flight number. [/-]

It means the 2700 SC's must be be earned on any travel with a QF flight number that earns SC's on any METAL other than that of Jetstar(/Asia). If on Jetstar(/Asia) metal, then it must be on a QF flight number and in one of the booking classes mentioned.

Wouldn't the red have been more enjoyable on embarking rather than disembarking? (Depending on your definition of morning of course!)

Arrived home today to find a letter from the Platinum One team - and attached two tickets to Love Never Dies in early January - "With Compliments".

Great seats too.

Thanks Qantas :p

Sigh. I'm just a rank platinum person who spends 40% of my life travelling, mostly with qantas, in discount economy to do something to help the poor of the world. I'm not quite worth as much as you...

Has Platinum One made Platinum become the new Gold?

Before the introduction of Platinum One, the cabin chief would come to personally greet me, as a WP flying international (even if on Y). Also, he/she would offer me an amenity kit from the front, a noise cancelling headset, or even wines from J.

Now, nothing, nada, niente, zilt. Not only that, they forgot to give me the mid-flight snack; I had to wait 30 minutes until the FA answered to my call button. Also, they ran out of hot breakfasts, and I had to take the cereal...

Flew from SYD to EZE on Dec 24.

The CSM greeting for WPs has been hit'n'miss for ages. I sometimes get it, it often doesn't happen. Depends on the quality of the CSM, their mood and other factors (eg whether you're asleep if they walk past).

I don't think you're seeing anything new. Sounds like a poor crew all-up. Perhaps the Christmas roster affected them as well.

I had the full schmooz this morning - personal greeting and newspaper on boarding, offer of J breakfast, lots of attention. It was lightly loaded though.
Let 's see how it goes on this arvo's flight to SIN which is chockers.

I think that's more to do with the crew than anything else. Mal is right it's totally hit and miss in Y. There are extremes - it's either REALLY good or REALLY bad and not a lot in between. What flight to SIN are you on?

The edit note didn't quote to my reply. Yes, happy 1000 posts. Can see you're looking forward to a full month of celebrations too.

On my last 4 dom flights, no greeting except at the door. Staff were good, just no bells / whistles for me. ( ok, 1 whistle, but we won't go into that) :D
