Correct me if I'm wrong... did I hear at the lunch they didn't want to give P1 anytime access because it would look like it was taken away from plats and given to P1s?
Dunno - wasn't there. My reply used info given on this thread.

FWIW, I was only answering your question: "... what does CL get tht P1 doesn't? "

are

General consensus is that there are a good many CL members who hardly travel or don't travel with QF anyway - If there are so few WP1 why don't they chuck in CL membership or at least access?

It would be the only benefit that would actively encourage me to move from WP to WP1. Other than that I don't see what all the fuss is about.

The implication was that the majority of WP1 are flying int'l so CL access is a non-event as there are no int'l CLs.

No - nothing of the sort - stop reading things into things. ATA started to go away years ago.

I am sick of hearing about ATA. Fly the airline to use their lounge - its not ****ing hard.

Is CL all it's cracked up to be? I was on QF31 with a CL and his wife who bought Y tickets and expected a J or F upgrade. Instead, they were in Y+, sitting in different rows, in the middle, behind each other. To say they were unimpressed would be an understatement.

I was only PS at the time, and has my Y to Y+ upgrade clear...

CL is definitely not about buying Y tickets and getting upgraded on demand.

So two attendees and two different recollections? I'm interested to hear what the view from QF was. I'm not particularly hung up on ATA but would like to know the reasoning behind not giving ATA to WP1. If these really are the cream of the FF's it does seem a little illogical. With a 2700 SC QF threshold WP1 is not exactly something earned by flying lots of other carriers frequently.

Having now read through the benefits on the QF site I wonder if JASA availibility is improved for the WP1?

If they wanted to sit next to each other they should have paid for the pleasure - obviously, no matter what your status, you can still be cheaper than a 2 bob street walker :p

They seemed to have thought so, and on AFF and FT, it's been reported that CL lounge staff are empowered to 'make members happy,' including upgrades wherever possible. (The person in my post was CL through their company contract, and not due to celebrity status, political power, or ability to influence spend).

A good 30-40% of the time the BA lounge staff will try to send you to the business class lounge if you are not in flying first.

"Off to the commons with you riff raff, this is the First lounge for First class passengers!"

"but, but I have a platinum card..."

"Platinum? What is this platinum thing you speak of?"

"Well for all intents and purposes it is the same as your Gold, even though the commodity is worth more"

<incredulous stare>

"You may pass just this once, but don't dare steal our magazines, they are for First class passengers."

Well I had the opposite on Friday. Went to the galleries lounge at T5 by
mistake and as i handed over my BP the lady said i should be in the F lounge and was directed to the First lounge!!

The message was clear that QF do not want to have ATA for anyone other than CL. WP1 are presumed not to need it as if they aren't flying OW then they will likely be fling j or f.

... or otherwise, still flying J/F on oneworld.

Not unless they change their res. system.

The discounted xASA's that use X/P/Z/U fare buckets do not appear to access the "additional" availability for elites.

Oh well. I thought I might have stumbled across something that would be useful for me! :-|

Will the status of P1 transfer to the on board passenger manifest for cabin crew? ie. will the crew know that the pax travelling is P1?

And also will the boarding pass still show just Platinum or Platinum One?
