And I’m not returning to Australia til mid September so would only purchase it on the flight back to Sydney

Indeed, JAL has a longstanding agreement with Mori Izo and inflight shopping is the cheapest place you can reliably acquire it.

Street price in Japan is around $120-130: https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/Izo-Mori-24-3-720-Box/dp/B0CHJNRKKH/

In Australia it is very difficult to find, but when available goes for around $250: https://justliquor.com.au/shochu/1838-mori-izo-shochu-720ml.html

There is even a second hand market for it - pawn shops like Daikokuya will purchase the bottle off you for 6500 yen netting you an easy $30 profit

They offer loungewear in J? Took a red-eye SIN-HND flight last year and didn't see any. o.o
