Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

JQ63, the 1940 hours MEL - SGN was earlier showing as departing on time on Monday 14 January but like so many other JQi flights ex MEL is to be delayed, in its case to a projected 2240 this evening.

The 1740 hours OOL down to MEL, JQ447 was in the sky at 1917 so arrival for A320 VH-VGR should be 2216 hours, 71 late.

The delayed JQ2 from HNL to MEL (B788 VH-VKB) was airborne at 2353 hours on Sunday 13 January 2019 with arrival suggested as 0731 hours on Tuesday 15 instead of the normal 1605 on Monday afternoon.

On Tuesday 15, the run of cancellations affecting MEL - DPS JQ flights continues with JQ44, the 1855 hours ex MEL getting the flick.

JQ63, the 1940 hours MEL - SGN was earlier showing as departing on time on Monday 14 January but like so many other JQi flights ex MEL is to be delayed, in its case to a projected 2240 this evening.....

Oh dear. Departure has been delayed overnight to a proposed 1200 'high noon' on Tuesday 15 January 2019 ex MEL, 980 minutes late.

On Tuesday 15 December 2019, JQ43 (1005 hours MEL - DPS) has been alted to depart at 1200 'high noon', in addition to previously notified cancellation of tonight's JQ35 on the same route (the evening 1855 hours) and the significant delay to JQ29 MEL - BKK, retimed to push back at a proposed 2250 tonight instead of 1435 this afternoon.

Additionally, the MEL - SGN JQ63, advised above as delayed in departure from MEL from the scheduled Monday 14 at 1940 hours to 1200 'high noon' today has been put back further, to an expected 1400 hours pushback today. This is 1120 minutes late.

While reentry to service may not show up until after this aircraft departs, it appears that VH-VKH remains inoperable in Melbourne. Having an aircraft unavailable when this was not planned during the busy period when so many are returning home after holidays is far from ideal.

The 0850 hours Tuesday 15 January 2019 MEL up to SYD, JQ528 (A320 VH-VGR) was not airborne until 1308, about four hours late. Arrival should be at 1412, 237 minutes behind schedule.

A321 VH-VWU on JQ713, the 1300 hours MEL down to HBA had left the terminal by 1404 but was still taxiing, so will be at least 50 minutes late into the island capital.

VH-VGF on JQ748, the scheduled 1240 hours LST up to SYD was airborne at 1349 so arrival has become an estimated 1519, 64 late.

After arriving MEL on Tuesday 15 January at 0732 hours, 18 minutes early on JQ36 ex DPS overnight, B788 VH-VKJ has formed the overnight delayed JQ63 from MEL to SGN, airborne at 1419. Arrival should be at 1822 early this evening instead of 0030 hours, so an astounding 1112 minutes behind schedule.

If JQ64 manages to depart SGN at 2000 hours local time tonight, it may be in MEL by 0745 tomorrow morning.

B788 VH-VKH returned to flights today, taking off on JQ43, the 1005 hours MEL - DPS at 1243 so it will be a little more than two hours late arriving in the Balinese airport.

The 1520 hours MEL - HKT, JQ17 is expected to depart 50 minutes late on Tuesday 15.

In more on 15 January 2019, A320 VH-VQG on JQ515, the 1330 hours SYD down to MEL was not airborne until 1554, so arrival should be at 1710, 125 late.

The badly delayed JQ64 from SGN to MEL should arrive on Wednesday 16 January 2019 at 0845 hours instead of 1435 today, so 965 minutes late.

JQ43, the 1005 hours Wednesday 16 MEL - DPS will instead depart in the evening at 1955, later than the scheduled JQ35 (1855) if latter is on time, continuing what pathetic timekeeping the Bali flights ex and to Melbourne have had in the past week - if they're not cancelled. One wonders how many passengers have been inconvenienced: it would have to be in excess of 1000 in each direction.

Wednesday 16 January's JQ119 (0855 hours morning SYD to NAN) has A320 VH-VGA, taking off at 0947. Arrival should be 1441 this afternoon, 36 minutes tardy.

On Wednesday 16 January, B788 VH-VKH on JQ57, the 0720 hours BNE up to DPS "diverted back to BNE" but it may not have taken off at fiorst try. In any case, eventual takeoff was at 0902 hours with suggested arrival 1223, 58 late.

After arriving in MEL on 16 January on JQ18 ex HKT, VH-VKK is operating as empty ('ferry') flight JQ8990 from MEL (airborne at 1216) to SYD.

JQ774 (1450 hours MEL across to ADL) has been cancelled.

Also on 16 January, the badly delayed JQ30 from BKK to MEL should arrive at 1812 hours instead of 1030. VH-VKL is the B788. It had taken off at 0539 this morning.

JQ715, 1900 hours MEL - HBA should depart half an hour late.

JQ passengers' horror run on DPS - MEL continues with B788 VH-VKL's JQ44 arriving n MEL at a projected 0828 on Thursday 17 January 2019 sintead of 2300 hours on Wednesday night.

JQ503, the 0700 hours Thursday SYD - MEL took off at 0755 with A320 VH-JQX so arrival should be at 0912 hours, 37 late.

As at 1545 hours on Thursday 17 January, MEL looks to be down to single runway (27) ops. It isn't creating major delays but may if it continue. There have been and are storms.

As an example of inbounds being slowed, JQ1 from HNL (B788 VH-VKL) was about 25 minutes early but should now arrive at about 1612, seven minutes late.

JQ564 (Friday 18 January, the 1430 hours mid afternoon MEL - BNE with A320 VH-VFL) took off at 1535. Arrival should be at 1628, 43 minutes behind.

MEL - DPS JQ flights continue to perform poorly with the 1005 hours morning JQ43 (B788 VH-VKL) airborne at 1247. Arrival should be at 1514 local time, 139 late.

AFF member Quickstatus asserts that on Friday night 18 January 2019, there are delays in Sydney due to 'greater than expected ATC sickies.'

JQ410, the 1945 hours SYD - OOL (A320 VH-VFQ) took off at 2058, about an hour late.

The 1545 hours AVV - SYD, JQ606 is far worse, having become airborne at 1957 (VH-VGO) for a predicted arrival at about 2112 hours,, 242 late.

The 2045 hours MEL - BNE, VH-VFL (JQ570) was in the sky at 2156 hours so it will be at least 55 minutes late arriving.

After holding above Parramatta - an unusual location - JQ518 (A320 VH-VFK, the 2035 hours MEL - SYD in the sky at 2108) is arriving at 2246. 46 minutes tardy.

JQ524 (A320 VH-VFX) from MEL to SYD arrived at 2304, 44 late after having touched down from teh north at 2259, just prior to curfew.

Tuesday 22 January 2019 sees JQ680 (1745 hours HBA to ADL, A320 VH-VFX) was in the sky at 1841. Estimated arrival is 2001 hours, 46 minutes behind schedule. This is because the MEL - HBA JQ711 was 45 minutes late.

JQ711 was the 1600 hours ex MEL, but this aircraft had previously been on JQ477, the 1420 hours NTL down to MEL due to arrive in MEL at 1600, the same time as JQ711's timetabled departure. It was only a minute late arriving on 'the 477' but the delay to JQ711 could not be avoided. Looks like another A320 had failed.
