Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

A332 VH-VWZ is not enjoying a good Friday 2 August 2019, timekeeping wise.

JQ701, the 0610 hours MEL - HBA did not take off until 0741, arriving at 0851, 86 late. The next flight, JQ700, the 0800 hours HBA back up to MEL was worse with it becoming airborne at 1004, so arrival was 1104, 104 late. Then it was on JQ508, the 1005 hours MEL - SYD that took off at 1207, arriving 116 late at 1326 hours. On JQ511, the 1220 hours SYD back down to MEL, takeoff was at 1430 so estimated arrival is 1545 hours, 110 late.

JQ4 from HNL down to SYD has B788 VH-VKG with expected Friday 2 August 2019 arrival becoming 1622, 92 minutes past the timetable.

The 1640 hours JQ37 from SYD to DPS is predicted to depart 70 minutes late.

Thursday 1 August's 2100 hours mid evening redeye from SIN to MEL, JQ8, was delayed overnight, taking off on Friday 2 at 0848 hours. MEL arrival should be 1806 hours, 706 minutes late. Aircraft is B788 VH-VKL. The aircraft on 31 July arrived SIN on JQ7 20 minutes late and then had the usual overnight stabling in the Lion City, so no standout reason why it was delayed overnight.

As a result, JQ1, the 1545 hours mid afternoon MEL up to HNL is expected to depart at 1955 hours mid evening. This will also adversely affect passengers booked on the return flight JQ2.

Once again the tight JQi schedules are starkly on display. Not a carrier I could recommend.

Domestically, JQ916, the 1630 hours MEL - TSV (A321 VH-VWZ) took off at 1738, so arrival should be 2022 hours, 52 late. This aircraft has been delayed all day: see a previous post above.

JQ518 (1605 hours MEL - SYD, A321 VH-VWT) took off at 1707 with arrival likely at 1826 hour, 56 late.

A320 VH-VQJ, the afternoon 1425 hours NTL down to MEL took off at 1732 with on ramp arrival suggested as 1902, 177 minutes late.

Later on 2 August 2019, JQ795 (1715 hours late afternoon MCY down to MEL, in the sky at 1811) should arrive at 2036, 51 late with A320 VH-VGO.

JQ1 (see above) did not depart MEL until 2017 on 2 August, 272 minutes late, taking off at 2032. HNL arrival is estimated at 1025 hours same day, 250 minutes late. The return JQ2 (0800 hours) will be unable to depart until at least 1130.

One has to stress this may change, but based on tomorrow's (3 August 2019) gate allocations, if the much delayed scheduled 1455 hours arriving JQ2 forms the 1745 hours MEL - DPS JQ35, the latter won't be pushing back until at least 1900 hours, and that's being optimistic.

Also on Sunday 4 August, the 0915 hours morning MEL - DPS (JQ43, B788 VH-VKL) was airborne at 1019 with expected arrival at 1409, 54 late.

Jetstar JQ8 1/8/19 SIN-MEL delayed, and 4/8/19 cancelled. BKK service also impacted.

Equipment issues again?

davidj, many thanks.

JQ67 (yesterday, Saturday 3 August, MEL to little known in Oz CGO in mainland China) operated normally but the aircraft, B788 Vh-VKA appears not to have departed yet on the return JQ68. The latter is displaying as arriving in MEL at 0500 hours, bright but not early in timekeeping terms on Monday 5 August instead of the timetable that states 1305 hours today.

MEL_Traveller, Quickstatus and I all doubt that JQ has sufficient aircraft to operate its published timetables. It isn't just that the timetables have tight turnarounds: they are impossible.

I couldn't see from a quick look that JQ29/JQ30 MEL - BKK and return had been adversely affected timewise. What did I miss?

JQ8, the Sunday 4 August 2100 hours redeye from SIN to MEL is also cancelled due to JQ7 not operating.

A320 VH-JQL on JQ525 (Sunday 4 August, the 1915 hours SYD down to MEL) was at 2015 still taxiing for departure, so it will be more than 40 minutes tardy.

There may be fog in Newcastle NSW as JQ470 (A320 VH-VGR), the 0615 hours ex MEL that took off at 0742 had a very lengthy holding pattern off the coast and appears as at 1020 to be diverting to SYD. It was due in NTL at 0745 but should arrive SYD at 1046, 181 late at this stage.

As a result, JQ562, the 1040 hours MEL - BNE is delayed until 1410 this afternoon.

Tuesday 6 August 2019 finds JQ503, the 0700 SYD down to MEL airborne at 0756. A320 VH-XSJ should arrive at 0916, 41 late.

JQ774 (0825 hours MEL to ADL that was airborne at 0928, A320 VH-VQQ) is arriving at 1005, 50 late.

B788 VH-VKD is transferring empty ('ferrying') from CNS to MEL as JQ8991, an expensive way to operate. It took off at 0734 so should be in MEL around 1030 hours.

Continuing with Tuesday 6 August 2019, JQ435 (A321 VH-VWX, the 0840 hours morning OOL down to MEL airborne at 0947) is arriving at 1204 hours, 59 late.

VH-VQQ (A320) on JQ771 (0945 hours ADL across to MEL) was airborne at 1047 with on ramp arrival at 1226 hours, 46 late.

Along with the earlier B788 from CNS to MEL, JQ is also ferrying A320 VH-VQA (as JQ7993) from PER to MEL, taking off at 1046 and expected on ramp at 1540 hours. This is its first use for today after arriving in PER late last night at 2354 hours on JQ978 ex, of all places, CNS.

JQ478, the Tuesday 6 August 2000 hours evening MEL - NTL took off at 2119. A320 VH-VGD should arrive at 2231, 61 minutes behind schedule.

Also on 7 August, JQ8993 (A320 VH-VQK) is operating from MEL to DRW in what may be an empty working ('ferry flight.') Takeoff was at 0736 hours.

JQ43, the 7 August 0915 hours MEL to DPS did not become airborne until 1239 hours, so arrival is predicted as 1626 hours, 191 minutes tardy. This will delay JQ44,

Also today, JQ576 MEL-BNE (A320 VH-VFO) has a revised arrival at 21 31, 86 min behind.

(A320 VH-VGO) JQ779 ADL-MEL arrived at 18 57, 177 min tardy. This has delayed JQ520 MEL-SYD, currently taxing and now expected to arrive at 21 05, 190 min behind schedule.

Continuing with Wednesday 7 August, JQ609 (A320 VH-XJE, the 1825 hours early evening SYD down to AVV airborne at 1909 hours) should arrive at 2052, 52 late.

JQ818 (A320 VH-VQJ, the 1840 hours SYD - BNE in the sky at 1935) is arriving at a suggested 2047, 37 late.

JQ58, the 1450 hours DPS down to BNE was not pointing skywards until 1819. B788 VH-VKA should arrive at 0113 hours on Thursday 8, 188 minutes behind schedule.
