Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

JQ797 (Thursday 16 August, the 1930 hours evening MCY - MEL that was up up and away at 2014, A320 VH-VFF) is arriving 58 late at 2258.

JQ792 (A320 VH-VGU), the 0700 hours early morning MEL- MCY on Friday 16 August did not become airborne until 0804, so arrival is put back to an expected 1001 hours, 46 late.

The 0640 hours SYD - MEL (A321 VH-VWZ, JQ531) was in the sky at 0708, about 15 late, but arrival is not as good with the estimate 0852, 37 late.

JQ561 (0715 hours BNE - MEL) was up up and away at 0809 hours so arrival with A320 VH-VQL should be 1022, 37 late.

The 0700 BNE up to DPS, JQ57, has B788 VH-VKB and was not airborne until 0833, so arrival has become 1234 hours, 89 late.

JQ35 MEL-DPS has a revised departure at 19 30, 105 late.

JQ120 NAN-SYD (A320 VH-VFT) is expected at 20 07, 82 min tardy.

With BNE fog plus MEL and SYD single runway operations having adversely affected timekeeping on Monday 19 August, A321 VH-VWN on the offpeak 1200 hours 'high noon' SYD - MEL JQ511 did not take off until 1426. Arrival should be at 1542 hours, 109 minutes behind the timetable.

Later on 19 August 2019, JQ465 from BNK to MEL, the 1900 hours, took off at 1956. A320 VH-VFL should arrive 47 minutes late at 2202.

JQ461, the 1650 hours scheduled departure from the same origin but bound for SYD is a lot more tardy, having become airborne at 1950 for a suggested arrival at 2102, 167 late for VH-VGJ.

Tuesday 20 August 2019 sees JQ502 (A320 VH-VFF, the 0735 hours MEL up to SYD in the sky an hour later) arriving at 0947, 47 late.

JQ506 (0915 hours MEL - SYD, A320 Vh-VGH) took off at 1004 hours on Wednesday 21 August 2019. Arrival should be at about 1111, 31 late.

Thursday 22 August 2019 finds JQ604, the 1305 hours lunchtime AVV up to SYD (A320 VH-VFF) not airborne until 1546 with estimated arrival 1700, 150 minutes behind teh timetable.

The flight that acts more like a suburban rail service in terms of punctuality and reliability, than a medium haul flight, that being the JQ7/8 pair, and in this instance JQ 8 SIN-MEL, is now scheduled to leave SIN at 07:30 on Fri 23 August instead of the scheduled departure of 21:00 on Thu 22 August. Maintenance overrun, as the inbound arrived only 23 mins behind schedule on Wed 21 August. Sunday's JQ7 flight has of course been cancelled.

Good information but 'suburban trains in Australia, with the exception of Brisbane, have a far lower cancellation rate and better punctuality than Australia's domestic airlines.

No disagreement about JQ7 and JQ8 frequent cancellations though. Perhaps you or your family members are its most frequent bookers?

On Friday 23 August 2019, JQ712 from HBA to MEL, the 1430 hours mid afternoon up up and away at 1512 should arrive at 1619, 34 late with A320 VH-VGV.

The HBA - SYD JQ720 has A320 VH-VFF with this 1345 hours scheduled pushback seeing takeoff at 1515 hours. Consequently. expected arrival is 1651 hours, 76 minutes late. Of this aircraft's last 10 flights (including this one), five have been more than two hours late and two more than an hour late, with only two being less than 15 minutes late arriving at destination.

JQ8991 (B788 VH-VKG) is another 'ferry flight' with the aircraft having taken off from CNS at 1314 and MEL arrival suggested as about 1643 after (like a few other planes) holding above Bendigo.

It looks as if MEL is down to single runway operations, creating delays: confirmation from anyone at the airport would be appreciated.

Just what the doctor ordered during Friday's afternoon peak period!

In more on 23 August 2019, JQ795 took off from AVV at 2209 and is arriving MEL at 2233. A320 VH-VGU has the honour of this extremely short flight. This was the 1715 hours MCY - MEL that took off at 1754 and diverted to AVV. It is usually due to arrive in MEL at 1945 so is 168 minutes behind schedule.

JQ517 is also to operate AVV to MEL with A321 VH-VWQ. It is the 1725 hours SYD - MEL due to arrive at 1900. By 2232 hours, it had not taken off from AVV.

The 1845 hours MEL up to SYD was cancelled as was JQ530, the 1940 hours on the same route. JQ446 (2015 hours MEL - OOL) also got the boot.
