Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

Sunday 7th of July sees JQ401 OOL-SYD (A320 VH-VQP) arrive at 9 58, 153 min behind. This then formed as JQ404 SYD-OOL which was airborne at 11 02, arrival is suggested at 12 09, 159 min tardy.

JQ500 MEL-SYD (A320 VH-VQG) arrived to gate at 9 37, 132 min late. The return leg as JQ507 SYD-MEL has a revised arrival at 11 54, 113 behind.

JQ805 MCY-SYD (A320 VH-VFP) arrived at 10 50, 65 min tardy. This has pushed back departure time for JQ420 SYD-OOL which is suggested for 11 20, 60 min late.

JQ548 SYD-BNK (A320 VH-XSJ) has a revised arrival at 12 20, 65 min tardy.

JQ811 BNE-SYD (A320 VH-XJE) diverted to OOL as a result of fog in SYD.

In further on Sunday 7 July 2019, JQ846, the 1210 hours lunchtime SYD up to HTI took off at 1324 with A320 VH-VFK, so expected arrival is 1536, 56 minutes tardy.

VH-VFP continues to struggle with delays, now as JQ413 OOL-SYD, with tentative arrival at 15 08, 68 min behind.

JQ709 MEL-HBA (A320 VH-VGV) was airborne at 13 57, arrival predicted at 15 02, 62 tardy.

Later on Sunday 7 July, JQ465 (1900 hours BNK down to MEL, A320 VH-VGV) was in teh sky at 2024 so expected arrival is 2228 hours, 73 late.

JQ 25 from Melbourne to Cairns is cancelled again tomorrow (8/7).
My daughter rather stupidly booked on it to return last minute to University in Cairns. Her tutorial is at noon but JQ have put her on a 1950 flight to Cairns.
The fact it is often cancelled probably accounted for why it was the only affordable flight.

On Monday 8 July 2019, JQ527 (A321 VH-VWY, the 2040 hours SYD - MEL airborne only about five minutes late at 2100) is arriving 35 late at 2250, having taken an indirect route probably by ATC direction.

\And all JQ 787 fleet (VH-VKA to VH-VKL except for VH-VKC which is not a JQ rego) on 8 July were operating other JQ 787 routes. No JQ 787 were able to operate JQ25.

.... Apparently this must be a random cancellation event...

@Melburnian1

Jetstar (not the name given to it in my household) must have the same meaning for "random cancellations" as many members of AFF and similar blogs employ for the word "enhancement."

How could anyone book with confidence on JQi when its 'no shows' of timetabled flights are so frequent? The only people I know who've travelled on it within the last few months was a group of six who in journeying MEL - HNL and back were univesral in stating what they perceived as poor, offhand "service" on board. That was at a time when JQ (surprise, surprise) was cancelling other flights so they were darn lucky not to have been adversely affected.

Tuesday 9 July's JQ607 (1535 hours mid afternoon SYD down to AVV, A320 VH-VQZ) was still taxiing at 1629 so it will be at least 45 minutes late.

Later on 9 July, JQ517 (A320 VH-VGH) is the 1725 hours SYD - MEL that was still taxiing as at 1835. Arrival will therefore be at least 40 minutes tardy.

JQ770 (the 1700 hours afternoon SYD - ADL, A320 VH-VQL) was about to take off as at 1846 hours so is more than 85 minutes late.

Also, JQ569 BNE-MEL (A320 VH-VFV) is scheduled to arrive at 21 01, 71 min tardy. This will delay the leg back as JQ570 MEL-BNE, which has a revised departure at 21 45.

JQ603, the Wednesday 10 July 2019 scheduled 0700 hours SYD - AVV was not in the sky until 0801. Arrival should be at 0918, 43 late for A320 VH-VQZ.

The 0715 hours BNE down to MEL, JQ561. took off at 0808. It held slightly east of Bendigo so arrival should be at about 1030, 45 late. VH-VQW is the A320.

JQ507 (VH-VGH, the 0825 hours SYD - MEL that pointed skywards at 0916) is arriving at a suggested 108 hours, 67 late.

The 0915 hours morning MEL -DPS, JQ43, took off at 1014 so arrival is 1356 this afternoon, 41 late.

JQ433 (A320 VH-JQX, the 0730 hours OOL down to MEL took off at 0813, arriving at 1044, 49 late.

Continuing with Wednesday 10 July, JQ7, the twice weekly MEL - SIN due to push back at 1110 hours took off at a delayed 1249. Arrival for B788 VH-VKB should be 1822, 92 minutes tardy. This flight is unreliable: look back at discussion on previous pages of this thread.

Returning, JQ8 does not depart until tomorrow evening, as these flights have a scheduled layover in SIN of roughly 36 hours.

Another one for MEL_Traveller to ponder.

Also on 10 July 2019, A320 VH-VGF on JQ793, the 0945 hours midmorning from MCY down to MEL was in the sky at 1116 hours so arrival has become 1348, 93 late.

JQ474 (1210 hours MEL up to NTL) was airborne at 1346 hours. A320 VH-VQP should arrive at 1500 hours on the dot, 80 minutes behind its timetable.

JQ604 (1305 hours AVV - SYD, A320 VH-VQZ) pointed skywards at 354, so its arrival is set for 1506 hours, 36 minutes delayed.

The 1220 hours SYD - MEL, JQ511 took off at 1326 (A321 VH-VWQ) with arrival suggested as 1438, 43 late.

B788 VH-VKB on JQ2 from HNL to MEL is arriving on Wednesday 10 July at 1635 hours, 100 minutes late.

JQ443 (1330 hours OOL - MEL) was in the sky at 1450 so is arriving at 1704, 69 minutes behind its timetable. A320 VH-JQX briefly had to hold east of Bendigo, contributing to the late running.

The 1600 hours SYD down to MEL, JQ521, took off at 1700 on the dot, about 45 minutes late. Arrival should be at about 1820, 45 late. VH-VWT is the A321.

Continuing with the myriad of delays that have marked a windy Wednesday 10 July in Melbourne, JQ702 from HBA to MEL, the 1600 hours took off at 1619 with arrival at 1753, 38 late for A320 VH-VGI. Timekeeping was hindered by an ATC holding pattern occurring above Korumburra.

VH-VGF on JQ712, the 1430 hours on the same route HBA - MEL was up up and away at 1624 with arrival indicated as 1801 hours, 136 minutes tardy with it also having to hold en route in a similar location.

JQ916 (1630 hours MEL up to TSV) as airborne at 1754 so A321 VH-VWW should arrive at 2035, 65 late.

Typical winds at 1730 hours at MEL were 57kmh but gusting to 70, the latter equivalent to 38 knots.

JQ794 MEL-MCY (A320 VH-VGJ) is expected to arrive to gate at 20 12, 72 min behind schedule.
JQ528 MEL-SYD has a revised departure at 21 00.
VH-VQQ is currently operating as JQ520 MEL-SYD, with arrival suggested at 18 58, 63 tardy. This will delay departure of JQ422 SYD-OOL with departure expected at 19 30.
JQ35 MEL-DPS (B787 VH-VKG) has a suggested arrival at 22 39, 54 late.
JQ710 HBA-MEL (A320 VH-VWN) is expected to arrive at 19 08, 63 behind.

As at 2020 hours on Wednesday 10 July 2019, it's down to a single runway at MEL (east-west 09/27 is closed) due to the strong winds.

Winds are dropping, however, as earlier they were gusting to 72kmh but as at 2010 hours were down to gusts of 46kmh.

By 2200 on Wednesday 10 July in Melbourne, rain (and hail in some suburbs) had arrived, with JQ773 (1750 hours ADL - MEL) taking off at 2004 (about 120 minutes late, VH-VQH) but significant holding en route above Rupanyup and then Heathcote means predicted arrival at 2240 hours, 175 minutes late.

The OOL - MEL JQ445 (A321 Vh-VWQ) should arrive at 2247 hours, 82 late.
