Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

JQ7991 (A320 VH-VQF) is operating on Thursday 12 September 2019, having taken off from ADL at 0717 hours. MEL arrival should be at around 0900 hours. This may be an empty - 'ferry' - flight.

VH-VQA is on JQ603, the 0700 hours SYD - AVV that was airborne at 0744, so arrival is predicted for 0908 hours, 33 down.

JQ774, the 0825 hours MEL - ADL took off at 0915 with A320 VH-VFH, so arrival is predicted as 0952, 37 late.

Ex CGO B788 VH-VKJ is arriving in MEL on Thursday 12 September at 1353, 48 minutes late.

Northbound JQ474, the 1210 hours MEL - NTL airborne at 1322 has VH-VFV. Arrival should be 55 late at 1435.

The MCY down to SYD JQ785 has VH-JQG and is the 1145 hours airborne at 1229. Arriival should be 1402 hours, 37 minutes late.

Continuing with Thursday 12 September, JQ17, the 1450 hours ME up to HKT is again late, having become airborne at 1740 hours with B788 VH-VKL. Expected arrival is 2304 tonight, 139 minutes behind schedule. JQ18 (redeye) back to MEL will be tardy.

The 1535 hours mid afternoon SYD - AVV, JQ607 was not in the sky until 1653. Arrival for A321 VH-VWU should be 1813, 63 minutes behind.

It is rare to observe an A321 on a JQ flight at AVV. Geelong play West Coast in an AFL final tomorrow night at 'the G' but since the plane is from SYDF not PER, hard to see the connection. It might be different were the final at what used to be called Kardinia Park.

JQ442 (12 September, the scheduled evening 1930 hours MEL - OOL airborne 70 minutes later) has A320 VH-VQC. Predicted arrival is 2224 hours, 54 late.

Friday 13 September sees JQ792 (morning 0700 hours MEL - MCY) not airborne until 0801, with arrival for A320 VH-VGY estimated at 0957, 42 late. With Fridays typically having a busy roster for most aircraft, a morning delay like this may be difficult to recover from and in some cases will compound. I may check in a few hours to see what occurs. JQ793, the 0945 hours ex MCY back to MEL is showing an an estimated 1035 pushback.

UPDATE: The aircraft arrived back in MEL at 1341 hours, 86 late, but is not recorded as undertaking any passenger duties since then, so it's hopefully punctual for its next flight.

Saturday 14 September finds JQ201, the midmorning, nicely timed 0955 hours SYD - AKL (A320 VH-VQF)) taking off at 1108 with arrival at 1538, 38 late. The identically timed in scheduled departure NZ flight is only about five minutes in front, so delays all round.

The CGO to MEL overnight (JQ68, B788 VH-VKL) is arriving at an estimated 1337 hours, 32 late on Sunday 15 September.

Later on 15 September, JQ607 (A320 VH-VQA, the 1535 hours SYD - AVV airborne at 1623) is estimated to arrive at 1742, 32 late.

JQ608, the 1750 hours back to SYD should depart at about 1815.

Also on 15 September, JQ471 (scheduled 1835 hours early evening NTL down to MEL airborne 62 minutes later) has A320 VH-VQQ with suggested arrival 2102, 47 minutes tardy.

On Monday 16 September during teh late afternoon, winds had been gusting at up to 56kmh in SYD, but by 1830 had reduced to 43kmh gusts. A320 VH-XSJ is on JQ791, the scheduled 1705 hours MCY down to SYD airborne at 1828. Arrival looks to be 1922 hours, 97 minutes late as the plane had to hold in the usual ATC-approved spot slightly to Pokolbin's west.

VH-VGN on the 1720 hours BNE down to SYD (JQ821) took off at 1733, on time, but arrival is predicted to not be until 1929, 34 late due to also incurring a holding pattern.

JQ523 is the 1815 hours SYD down to MEL not in the sky until 1914. A321 VH-VWZ should arrive at 2032, 42 late.

The first rainy weather of any consequence in Sydney for many days is welcome on Tuesday 17 September but many aircraft have had to hold while there are some delays also in takeoffs. The AKL - SYD morning JQ202 has A320 VH-VFD and is arriving at 0933 hours, 33 late after this 0715 hours scheduled flight took off at 0751, about 15 late.

Returning, JQ201, the 0955 hours SYD - AKL was not in the sky until 1144 hours. Arrival at a suggested 1630 will be 90 late.

Continuing with 17 September, JQ506, the scheduled 0920 hours MEL - SYD was in the sky at 1045 with arrival at 1205 hours for A320 VH-XJE.

A chilly (but sunny) Wednesday 18 September 2019 finds JQ23, the 0625 hours MEL to CNS still not having taken off by 0818. Arrival will therefore be at least 100 minutes late. The aircraft must be substituting for another B788, as it arrived in MEL this morning 33 early at 0607 hours on JQ36 ex DPS overnight.

It is not normal for a timetabled 0640 hours arrival to form an 0625 hours departure. More evidence for MEL_Traveller, dajop and Quickstatus re JQ's most "unusual" scheduling. Does this airline have sufficient medium range aircraft to operate its published timetable?

UPDATE: JQ23 was airborne at 0827 hours.

Also on 18 September, JQ43, the 0915 hours MEL - DPS should depart two hours late.

There appear to be delays for many SYD-bound flights. Have ATC staff called in sick?

JQ508, the scheduled 1005 hours MEL - SYD is expected to depart at 1054 while the earlier scheduled 0920 hours MEL - SYD, JQ506 should depart at the also odd time of 0941 but is displaying as not arriving in SYD until 1126, 41 late. JQ512, the early afternoon 1300 hours MEL - SYD should be half an hour tardy in pushback.

Southbound SYD - ME JQ503, the 0700 hours, was airborne at 0756 with A320 VH-VGY. Arrival should be 0914 hours, 39 late.

On Thursday 19 September 2019, JQ720 (afternoon 1345 hours HBA - SYD) was not in the sky until 1458. A 1636 hours arrival (61 late) is anticipated for A320 VH-VQQ.

The 1305 hours MEL - BKK (JQ29, B788 VH-VKH) did not take off until 1518, so arrival is unlikely prior to 2116 hours, 111 minutes behind the schedule.

A320 VH-JQL on JQ913, the 1425 hours TSV - SYD took off at 1533 so arrival should be 1753 hours, 48 minutes tardy.

On a very windy Friday 20 September 2019 at MEL - winds were gusting to 72kmh (39 knots) as at 0800 hours - JQ looks to be ioperating two empty ('ferry') flights, with JQ8990 (B788 VH-VKE) taking off at 0804 hours bound for OOL, while JQ7993 (A320 VH-VGJ) is a NTL down to MEL with arrival suggested as 0826 hours after the aircraft held above Mt Buller.

JQ531 (0640 hours SYD - MEL, A321 VH-VWU) was airborne at 0708 and has held above Mt Buller for a considerable period so arrival is likely at 0854, 39 minutes late.

Continuing with Friday 20 September, JQ503 (A320 VH-VQF, the 0700 hours SYD - MEL in the sky at 0729) should arrive at 0911 hours, 36 minutes behind schedule.

JQ8, the scheduled 0620 hours MEL arrival (ex SIN) was cancelled.

JQ1030 is operating from BKK to MEL with arrival (subject to further delays as at 0909 the aircraft was in a hold near Bendigo) at about 0930 hours. Aircraft is VH-VKG.

The 'normal' BKK to MEL (JQ30, VH-VKH, the 2140 hours Thursday 19 airborne at 2312) should be at its gate at roughly 1037 hours, 67 late.

JQ18 from HKT to MEL should normally arrive at 0950 but this won't occur until about 1615 this afternoon, 385 minutes late.

A320 VH-VFL - an appropriate rego for tonight's Richmond v Geelong match - is on JQ513, the 1250 hours SYD - MEL not airborne until 1413 hours. Arrival should be at 1527, 62 minutes late. Winds at MEL have moderated from this morning's 72kmh down to 42kmh.

The badly delayed JQ18 has B788 VH-VKJ with the arrival estimate slightly changed to 1607 hours, 497 minutes late. This aircraft looks to be forming JQ35, the 1745 hours MEL - DPS so that should be punctual, although the margin is not huge.

From a quick look, MEL still appears to be on single runway operations as at 1900 hours on Friday 20 September as JQ519 (A320 VH-VQF, the 1700 hours SYD down to MEL airborne at 1918 - only about five minutes tardy - arrives at 1909 hours, 34 minutes behind schedule.

VH-JQG on JQ740 (1730 hours LST up to MEL, in the sky at 1747) should arrive at 1919, 44 minutes behind its schedule.

On Saturday 21 September 2019, JQ916, the afternoon 1630 hours MEL - TSV (A321 VH-VWX) did not take off until 1814 so expected arrival is 2053 hours mid evening, 83 late. This aircraft had been early arriving in PER on the morning JQ972 but then hugely overstayed in PER, as JQ972 (the 1005 hours back to MEL) did not become airborne until 1123 hours.
