Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

Re: General Jetstar Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

JQ457, the Thursday 9 June 0910 hours BNK down to SYD took off at 1006 and hence aircraft A320 VH-VQW will arrive in SYD at about 1115, 40 minutes late.

Re: General Jetstar Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

The 1700 OOL - NTL, JQ495 on Thursday 9 June took off at 1758 and with A320 VH-VQL should arrive at about 1802, 47 minutes late.

SYD - MCY JQ725 should depart at 1725 but instead was airborne at 1812, arrival 34 minutes late at 1934 this evening being expected. Aircraft is A320 VH-VQK.

Re: General Jetstar Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

Friday 10 June saw JQ503 (0700 SYD - MEL, A320 VH-VGR) airborne at 0746, so arrival should be about 36 minutes late at 0911 hours.

Re: General Jetstar Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

Later on Friday 10 June, JQ17 (1450 hours MEL to HKT) took off at 1534 (B788 VH-VKB) and should arrive in the Thai nirvana at about 2137, 52 minutes behind time.

The 1610 hours longhaul from MEL to HNL, JQ1, took off about 70 minutes behind time at 1743 and should arrive (same day) at approximately 0741, 86 minutes late. Aircraft is B788 VH-VKI.

Re: General Jetstar Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

On Saturday 11 June, JQ5 from SYD to BNE, the 1335 hours (B788 VH-VKF) took off at 1442 and should arrive at roughly 1601, 51 minutes late. As this 'tag flight' then forms the 1700 hours from BNE to HNL, expect it to be a little late.

The 1830 hours NTL - MEL, JQ479, took off at 2005 and should arrive at about 2129 which would be 79 minutes late. VH-VGR is the A320.

Re: General Jetstar Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

JQ43, the 0915 hours MEL to DPS has a patchy timekeeping record. On Sunday 12 June 2016 that is again evident with departure likely to be delayed until about 1000. This heightens the chances of the late evening arrival back in MEL, JQ44 being unpunctual.

The 1020 MEL across to ZQN, JQ219 should depart about half an hour late.

JQ766, the 1245 SYD across to ADL is a fairly regular feature in these delay pages: 12 June is no exception, with departure predicted as 65 minutes late at 1350 hours for an identically delayed arrival in the 'wine capital' at 1530.

What is the usual JQ treatment of dislocated passengers from weather related events?.
Had a Family Member on one of the JQ cancelled flights. They offered a flight the next day and its was the last flight out. They told him due weather its out of their control and they don't need to offer you anything. Wouldn't even offer a refund!

Thank you Sunstar320: great information.

In fairness to JQ, I have had this occur with 5J while overseas due also to 'weather.' 5J would, however, offer a travel credit. I suspect that this is common with low cost airlines worldwide.

The Sunday 12 June JQ1 (1610 hours MEL - HNL, B788 VH_VKI) took off at 1658. Same day arrival is suggested as about 0658, 43 minutes late.

JQ460, the MEL to NTL 1630 hours departure took off at 1748, with arrival of A320 VH-VGR expected at about 1906, 66 minutes late.

On Tuesday 14 June, the 1450 hours mid afternoon MEL - HKT JQ17 took off at 1553, about 40 - 45 minutes late. Arrival is forecast for 2150 hours, 65 minutes late. Aircraft is B788 VH-VKI.

JQ7, the 1115 Wednesday 15 June MEL - SIN was airborne at 1226. B788 VH-VKI will therefore arrive at about 1755 late this afternoon, 65 minutes behind time.

JQ950, the Wednesday 15 June 1445 hours from MEL to CNS took off at 1551 and should shortly arrive at about 1854, 49 minutes late. Aircraft is A321 VH-VWW.

On Thursday 16 June, JQ472, the early morning 0615 hours MEL - NTL (A320 VH-VFP) was not airborne until 0742 hours, meaning likely arrival at about 0856 instead of 0745, 71 minutes late.

JQ511 (1210 hours SYD down to MEL) departed at 1303 with expected arrival at 1433 hours, 48 minutes late.

The 1450 hours MEL - HKT, JQ17 was again late getting airborne today, doing so at 1538 with arrival of B788 VH-VKK expected at around 2129 hours, 44 minutes late.

UPDATE: JQ522, the 1940 hours MEL to SYD was airborne at 2023 and should arrive 31 minutes late at 2136 hours with A321 VH-VWU.

The Thursday 16 June 2016 pushback of JQ38 in DPS was timetabled at 2235 but has been delayed by a forecast two and a half hours to 0105 on Friday 17 June, so SYD arrival should be at about 0845 hours instead of 0615.

Explains why Fri 17 Jun JQ11 SYD-OOL leg got cancelled at 0445 this morning, much to my obvious disappointment.
Now sitting in the Domestic Business Lounge awaiting QF860 (despite three earlier JQ flights, the only option I was provided was QF somewhat surprisingly). Still no boarding pass as despite a block ticket details haven't been transferred (I'm guessing this is why they didn't transfer earlier JQ flights).

The OOL-NRT leg still seems to be scheduled so not sure what they are doing with the through pax

Edit - called to the desk at 0740 - which suggests they only transferred the file 30min before the scheduled 0805 departure of JQ11

Thank you moa999 - as always, nothing beats on the spot reports.

Quickly looking at Google, JQ38's delay was worse than predicted: it departed DPS at 0345 this morning and will not be in SYD until about 1125 hours, five hours and 10 minutes late on Friday 17 June 2016. Yes, as far as I can see JQ11 is originating in OOL this morning for its trip to NRT.

The Thursday 16 June JQ18 (2220 hours HKT - MEL) took off at 2319 and on Friday 17 June should arrive at about 1032, 47 minutes late with B788 VH-VKK the aircraft.

The 1725 hours JQ521 (1725 hours SYD - MEL) was still taxiing at 1815 behind the even later Tt259 (MEL-bound) and TT382 (BNE-bound). JQ521 should arrive in the southern capital 45 minutes behind time at 1945.

On Saturday 18 June 2016, JQ944, the 0610 hours early morning from MEL up to CNS did not depart until 0709. Arrival is likely at 1035 instead of 0930.

JQ511 (1210 hours SYD down to MEL) did not take off until 1311, so A320 Vh-VQC should be at the MEL terminal at about 1444, 59 minutes late. The following JQ513 is about half an hour late.

Par for the course that JQ cannot run on time between MEL and SYD, even on a lazy Saturday afternoon that is the quietest time of the week for domestic air travel.

On Sunday 19 June 2016, JQ119, the 0855 SYD - NAN departed at 0923 but will arrive somewhat later at a projected 1536 mid afternoon, 41 minutes behind time.

The 1020 MEL to ski capital ZQN has been altered to push back at an expected 1100 rather than 1020 for an identically 40 minute arrival at 1615 this afternoon.

Between 1730 and 1846 hours on Sunday 19 June, BNE airport had 40 millimetres of rain - very heavy. Between 1430 and 1921 tonight, SYD airport has had 20 millimetres of rain - far from insignificant.

JQ518, the mid afternoon 1615 hours MEL - SYD did not take off until 2058 for a 2216 hours rather than 1740 arrival in SYD, some four and a half hours late. Aircraft is A320 VH-VFV. This flight may have been affected by the southbound JQ517's 1400 hours 'strange smell in cabin' incident referred to below.

JQ889, the 1750 hours MKY down to BNE took off punctually - perhaps a tad early - at 1801 early this evening but is only just arriving at 1951 hours, 31 minutes late. Conveyance is A320 VH-VFL.

The 1920 hours SYD up to BNE, JQ820 took off at 2041 so it should arrive at approximately 2201 tonight, 66 minutes late: A320 VH-VFF.

JQ522 (1940 hours MEL - SYD) was airborne at 2054 and should be in SYD at about 2206, 61 minutes late, with aircraft A321 VH-VWZ, ironically following VA887 which is almost identically delayed.

There are also media reports that earlier this afternoon in SYD, JQ517 (an A321), the 1400 hours from SYD to MEL that departed at 1402 turned back after a 'strange smell' was detected on board, landing in SYD at 1430 hours.

JQ525, the 2010 from SYD down to MEL was still taxiing at 2133 so it will be about 75 minutes late into MEL at about 2300 hours.

The 2030 hours AVV up to SYD, JQ610, was airborne at 2131 and hence should arrive at about 2253, 58 minutes late. Aircraft is A320 VH-JQX.

JQ 529 (SYD-MEL) managed to allay curfew anxiety by taking off at 2258 hrs (1hr13min late) and arriving into MEL just before the cuckoo clock strikes 12 at 2359hrs (1hr30min)

The turnaround at SYD (JQ522-529) was about 10 minutes longer than budgeted
This was the last RPT flight to depart SYD

The last RPT to arrive in SYD was JQ610 which also had curfew anxiety but managed to arrive in time for the Minister and also the Federal member for Grayndler to sleep peacefully.
