Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

Re: General Jetstar Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

JQ6 from HNL and BNE has just landed in MEL at 2142, but was due at the gate at 1710. In consequence, JQ1 from MEL to HNL has been delayed from 1840 to a suggested 2320.

Re: General Jetstar Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

While parent QF is running on time or close to it northbound between MEL and SYD so far this afternoon, the same cannot be said in what is an all too regular occurrence at JQ.

A lack of gates at MEL may be part of the problem. The delays often seem to start from first flights, indicating that JQ cannot handle the passengers offering at MEL in a timely fashion.

Depending on allowed turnaround times, it can be difficult to regain much if any time during the day, particularly if the weather conditions result in baggage being handled more slowly as one of the many factors that can contribute to ongoing delays.

JQ510, the 1150 from MEL to SYD departed 41 minutes late, arriving SYD 46 minutes late.

JQ532, the closely following 1200 departure was respectively 43 and 45 minutes late.

JQ516, the timetabled 1305 departure got away exactly an hour late.

JQ514, the 1525 departure is expected to depart 55 minutes late.

Later today, JQ526, the 1720 scheduled flight is not expected to leave MEL until 1805.

These delays must be especially irksome for passengers travelling with children in the school holidays. Oh for a super reliable high speed rail lower east coast network as so many other nations have invested in.

Re: General Jetstar Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

JQ764 (A320 VH-VGI) is more than two and a half hours late today (Sunday 12 April 2015) and will not be at the gate in ADL until about 1510.

JQ823 from ADL to SYD was meant to depart at 0720 this morning but is more than eight hours late and not shown as leaving until 1530 for a suggested 1750 arrival in SYD in lieu of the normal 0950. While JQ is a low cost airline and like all Australian domestic airlines does not warrant to convey us on the booked day (something that many travellers would not know), it is pretty poor if travellers are left without any meal and drink vouchers. (VA similarly allegedly no longer provide such vouchers - at least that's my experience.)

JQ803 from ADL to MEL is delayed from 1300 to 1655 in its departure, so it looks like a JQ plane was defective in ADL this morning. JQ804, the 1525 from MEL is delayed until 1840 with an anticipated ADL arrival of what should be shown as 1930 but strangely has not been corrected from 1615 on the QF website.

Re: General Jetstar Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

I noticed that 3K131 SIN-PER is running almost 11 hours late today (was to arrive at 23:10, now scheduled for 10:15 tomorrow). Lucky I was on SQ215 instead.

Re: General Jetstar Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

JQ35 from MEL to DPS has been delayed to 2015 tonight from its timetabled departure of 1715. If formed by that aircraft, the 0555 Friday 17 April 2015 arrival of JQ36 in MEL will also be late.

Re: General Jetstar Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

While not a route with a high profile, flights to and from BNK cater for the Byron Bay market so may be used by a mix of very high income (B Bay) and 'alternative' (Nimbin) individuals.

JQ468 (VH-VQP) is running almost an hour late and not due at Ballina until 1430. Late running is quite common on this route, possibly because when another aircraft fails, JQ prioritises other flights, knowing that BNK mostly serves what JQ may regard as time flexible leisure travellers not time strapped businessmen.

Re: General Jetstar Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

There may have been fog in Newcastle this morning, as it had been predicted around the 'lower Hunter Valley.'

JQ703, the 0810 from MEL to HBA (VH-VWU) was formed from a JQ arrival ex NTL and departed MEL more than two hours late, being now due in HBA around 1145 instead of 0930.

JQ475, the 0825 from NTL to MEL (VH-VGJ) is forecast to be at the latter at about 1120, some 75 minutes late.

In an unrelated delay, JQ507, the 0930 from SYD to MEL is about 40 minutes late and now due in MEL at approximately 1145.

These NTL-related delays will have flow on effects to later flights.

Re: General Jetstar Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

JQ703 has been delayed from a MEL departure from 0810 to 1140 en route to HBA, presumably because the 0600 hours flight from NTL was cancelled this morning.

Re: General Jetstar Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

JQ30 from BKK overnight appears to have been cancelled. It is shown as due in tomorrow morning (Saturday 2 May 2015) at 0530, about 20 hours late.

JQ35 this afternoon from MEL to DPS (normally due out at 1715) has been cancelled.

Re: General Jetstar Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

My friend has just been told her JQ5 flight in Nov has been cancelled. Any ideas why? Seems strange for it to be scheduled maintenance.. poor loads? Surely not a cancellation that far out...? Something to do with 787s?

Re: General Jetstar Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

On an extremely chilly day in Melbourne, JQ7, the 1100 from MEL to SIN has been delayed until 1900 tonight.

Re: General Jetstar Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

JQ212 from AKL to MEL, normally due to arrive at 0920 has been delayed until a 1405 arrival in MEL today (Saturday 16 May), so it has yet to depart from AKL. JQ213 back to AKL is delayed from 1000 ex MEL to a suggested 1445.

Re: General Jetstar Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

JQ602, the 0600 early morning flight from AVV to SYD did not take off this morning. VH-VGD is expected to be 131 minutes late into SYD at 0936. The SYD airport website does not show any departing flights as significantly delayed so perhaps JQ shuffled the arrivals, although with a two hour delay surely it would have eventually 'run out' of planes to form on time departures.

JQ appears to have dropped one of the BNE flights from the HNL schedule, reducing the BNE-HNL (and return) services to three per week.

Re: General Jetstar Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

JohnPhelan, this must be one of the results of the $A dropping from parity with the US dollar to about 78 to 80 cents. While I have not checked any specific figures such as visitor arrivals in Honolulu, I have read that there has been a marked decrease in Australians visiting this US state. It's logical then for JQ to reduce frequencies.

Yes I was on this flight
Fogged in at AVV
Did not really need 2 hours in that shed they call a departure lounge.
Normally it is a great flight that lands in SYD by 7.15am

Re: General Jetstar Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

Thank you Kefci2000. My post should have read 'did not take off until very late this morning.' Apologies. I agree: normally this flight runs early or on time. Just as a matter of interest given that JQ's AVV - SYD flights are subsidised by Linfox and the socialist Victorian Government, about how many passengers were on the flight?
