Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

The 0810 hours MEL arrival on Thursday 13 July ex ADL, JQ771, has been cancelled as has JQ774, the 0840 hours back to ADL.

Due to the strong morning winds in MEL necessitating single runway use, JQ664 (A320 VH-VQQ, the 0930 hours MEL - AYQ was still waiting for takeoff at 1030, so it will be at least half an hour late.

A321 VH-VWN on JQ507, the 0825 hours SYD - MEL that was airborne at 0900 about 20 minutes late is arriving at 1037 hours, 37 late.JQ510 (1040 hours MEL up to SYD) did not become airborne until 1151, so A321 VH-VWN should arrive at 1308, 63 minutes late.

JQ7 (1110 hours MEL - SIN, B788 VH-VKL) took off at 1205 so arrival is expected at 1800 hours, 70 minutes tardy.

Later on a windy Thursday 13 July in MEL, JQ708 (1225 hours HBA - MEL that was airborne at 1337, A320 VH-VGF) should arrive at 1446 hours, 66 late.

Also on 13 July, JQ2, the HNL - MEL flight is expected to arrive at 2230 late this evening instead of its timetabled 1500 hours.

JQ35, the 1745 hours MEL - DPS departed at about 1900 hours on 13 July. JQ44, the 2215 hours arrival in MEL ex DPS should instead pull in to its allocated gate at 2339 hours.

JQ216 from AKL is a predicted 90 minutes late into MEL at a forecast 0025 hours on Friday 14 July, delay the returning redeye JQ217 from its timetabled 2345 hours pushback to 0105 hours.

JQ603 (0700 hours early morning SYD - AVV, A320 VH-VGJ) took off at 0735 and is expected to arrive at 0905 hours, half an hour late. This in turn will delay JQ632, the timetabled 0905 hours to ADL.

The 0750 hours from BNE down to SYD, JQ815, was not airborne until 0953, so arrival of A320 VH-VGN is likely at 1115, 110 minutes behind the timetable.

Saturday 15 July has JQ433, the early morning 0715 hours OOL - MEL that was not in the sky until 0823 hours (A320 VH-VQP) likely to arrive at 1024, 44 minutes late.

Later on Wednesday 12 July, JQ1, the flagship MEL to HNL 1640 hours departure has been delayed until a predicted 2345 hours. It looks to be using the B788 from the arriving JQ44, due in MEL at 2215 per the timetable but fortuitously a few minutes early tonight.

Presumably a B788 has become defective.

The Tuesday 12 July arriving NHL - MEL JQ2 (due in at 1440 hours mid afternoon) should arrive at 0525 hours on Thursday 13.

On Wednesday 12 July, JQ27 (B788 VH-VKH, the 1425 hours mid afternoon SYD up to HKT that did not become airborne until 1613) should arrive at around 2211 hours, 86 minutes behind schedule.

Presumably being 1 B788 frame short in this period also affected some KIX-CNS services over the last few days, a friend of mine got caught up in these delays and is now finally home in Australia (and probably closely examining his travel insurance policy )

JQ574, the Sunday 16 July 1220 hours MEL to BNE that took off at 1317 with A320 VH-VGY should arrive at roughly 1514 hours, 44 minutes late.

JQ604 (early afternoon 1240 hours AVV up to SYD, A320 VH-VQG that was airborne at an extremely late 1642) is expected to pull in to the mainland harbour capital at 1754, 229 late.

Earlier, this aircraft operated the brief empty working of JQ7995, taking off from MEL at 1544 and landing at AVV at 1559. It looks like A320 VH-VGJ, the aircraft that operated JQ633, the 1025 ADL to AVV that arrived at about 1221 hours at AVV may have failed, as it appears to be still marooned at AVV.

A320 VH-VGT, the mid afternoon 1510 hours SYD down to LST (A320 VH-VGT) had still not become airborne by 1824 and looked to be taxiing to third position in the queue for departures on runway 34R.

Continuing with Sunday 16 December, JQ1, the 1550 hours mid afternoon MEL - HNL (B788 VH-VKD) took off at 1645 with same day arrival estimated as 0700, 45 minutes behind schedule.

Post 1348 above should read '16 July': apologies.

On Monday 17 July, A321 VH-VWY on JQ943 (1830 hours CNS - MEL that was airborne at 1930) is arriving at 2242 hours, 47 late.

The 0600 hours early start JQ929 Tuesday 18 July CNS down to BNE (A320 VH-VQA) took off at 0714 so arrival should be at 0907 hours, 57 late.

Later on Tuesday 18 July, JQ29 (1305 hours MEL up to BKK, B788 VH-VKD) was airborne at a much delayed 1559 hours, so arrival is suggested at 2124 mid evening local time, 119 minutes late.

18 July's JQ36 (DPS - MEL) arrival time of 0640 hours has been amended to 0240 hours on Wednesday 19 July, an horrendous time to arrive back from overseas (although at least it has the upside that a Melbourne suburban resident may be in bed by 0500 for two hours of sleep prior to rising for a normal working day.)

JQ43 (0915 hours MEL - DPS on Wednesday 19) has been cancelled, so ordinarily JQ44 tomorrow also will not operate.

Wednesday 19 July sees JQ58 from DPS to BNE (B788 VH-VKF) likely to arrive at 0839 hours, 119 minutes tardy with B788 VH-VKF.

JQ424 (Thursday 20 July 1740 hours SYD - OOL that took off at 1812, A320 VH-VQW) should arrive at 1930 tonight, half an hour tardy.

JQ44, the scheduled 2215 hours arrival in MEL ex DPS has been cancelled, so this is the second consecutive day that a MEL - DPS - MEL flight has been cancelled. Not good!

The 2035 hours JQ713 from MEL down to HBA is not expected to depart until about 2315 this evening, meaning an after midnight arrival in the Tasmanian capital's airport. Aircraft is A321 VH-VWT. It has been badly delayed on JQ523, the 1820 hours early evening SYD down to MEL, having only taken off at 2112 and being likely to arrive in MEL at about 2235. Another JQ aircraft must have had problems because VH-VWT's previous flight was JQ522, the scheduled 1815 hours from MEL north to SYD that is due into the SYD terminal at 1940, and on which this A321 ran about 40 minutes late.

It's hardly optimal for any passenger transport operator to have a service operated by a conveyance that does not arrive until about two hours after it was due to leave, and in an aircraft's case then have a minimum 50 minute (for an A321) turnaround.

JQ819 (the 2040 hours BNE down to SYD, A320 VH-VQU) took off at 2128 with arrival likely at 2246, 31 minutes behind schedule.

On Friday 21 July, JQ515 (A320 VH-JQX, the 1350 hours from SYD down to MEL that was not in the sky until 1450, about 35 minutes late) should pull in at 1607 this afternoon, 42 minutes late.

UPDATE: JQ849 (A320 VH-VQU, the 1520 hours mid afternoon HTI - SYD that was airborne at 1651) should arrive at around 1904 hours, 84 minutes tardy.

On the afternoon of Sunday 23 July, JQ712 (1430 hours HBA - MEL that was in the sky at 1501) is arriving at roughly 1616 hours, 31 minutes late with A320 VH-VFI.

JQ796 (VH-VQH, the 1553 hours takeoff of the 1430 hours mid afternoon MEL - MCY) should arrive at 1800 hours, 75 late.

A321 VH-VWQ on JQ444 (1520 hours MEL - OOL that was airborne at 1600 hours) is forecast to arrive at 1754, 34 late.

Monday 24 July sees JQ832, the 0730 hours MEL - PPP that did not point skywards until 0857 hours (A320 VH-VFO) suggested as arriving at 1134 hours, 69 late.

JQ43 (B788 VH-VKG, the 0915 hours MEL - DPS that was in the sky at 0943) should arrive 54 minutes tardy at 1409 this afternoon local time.

JQ920, the 0920 hours mid morning flight from CNS across to DRW was airborne at 1018 hours (A320 VH-VQA) and is predicted to arrive at 1206 hours, 41 minutes behind schedule.

If all other things such as weather are equal, school holidays are probably worst for delays as many flights are full and have the delightful little nippers who tend to slow boarding and alighting, but 1000 to 1100 in Melbourne can still be a bad time for delays on JQ (school hols or not) as a number of 'tourist friendly' flights are scheduled, putting some pressure on the terminal. On Monday 24 July JQ772 is one example with this 1010 hours MEL - ADL not managing to become airborne until 1056 with A320 VH-VGZ, meaning likely arrival at 1134 hours, 34 minutes late.

Tuesday 25 July sees JQ15, the 0720 hours first sector from MEL to CNS having become airborne at 0752 with B788 Vh-VKG. Arrival is predicted as 1111 hours, 31 minutes tardy. As the CNS - KIX second sector is not due to depart until 1300 hours, it should be able to punctually do so.

On Wednesday 26 July, JQ945 (0615 hours early morning from CNS down to MEL, A320 VH-VFD) took off at a very late 0747 and should arrive at 1100, 80 minutes late. This will delay JQ946, the 1020 MEL - CNS until 1130 or so in its departure.

Later on 26 July, JQ785 (1140 hours MCY down to SYD, A320 VH-VGY) was continuing to hold a little to Polkobin NSW's west at 1420 hours, so arrival has become a suggested 1448, 88 minutes behind schedule.

JQ511 is continuing JQ's noted tradition of poor timekeeping on Australia's busiest by far air route between SYD and MEL with this scheduled 1215 hours departure in the sky at 1419 with A320 VH-VGD. Arrival in the Victorian capital should be at 1542, 112 minutes late.

The 1220 hours from SYD up to HTI, JQ846 was airborne at 1346 with arrival suggested as 75 minutes late at 1605 hours.

Most aircraft (not QF27) appear to be using the SYD east-west runway 25 which is causing extensive delays.

In further on Wednesday 26 July, JQ515 (1350 hours SYD down to MEL that was in the sky at 1552, A320 Vh-VGY) is forecast to arrive at about 1713, 108 minutes late.

JQ606 from AVV up to SYD, the 1545 hours, took off at 1634 (A320 VH-VQW) with arrival suggested at 1752 to be 42 minutes late.

The 1430 hours from NTL down to MEL, A320 VH-VQM (JQ477) was not airborne until 1610, so arrival is not predicted until 1747, 97 minutes behind time.

JQ521 (the 1600 hours SYD - MEL, A321 VH-VWZ) did not get in the sky until 1747, so arrival is estimated at 1917 hours, 102 minutes tardy. This will delay JQ522, the 1815 returning (northbound) to an estimated departure at 1940 hours.

JQ977, the scheduled mid afternoon 1445 hours arrival in MEL ex PER and JQ520, the 1455 hours SYD - MEL were cancelled.
