Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

On Tuesday 20 June, JQ61 (1520 hours SYD - SGN, B788 VH-VKK) was not in the sky until 1631 hours. Arrival should be at around the 2156 hours mark, 51 minutes late.

JQ603 (Wednesday 21 June 2017 0700 hours SYD - AVV) was not in the sky until 0741 hours. A320 VH-VFV is predicted to arrive 32 minutes behind schedule at 0907 hours.

Thursday 22 June sees JQ11, initially the 0740 hours SYD - OOL (B788 VH-VKF) having taken off at 0816 with likely arrival in the theme park capital at 0939 hours, 34 late. The 1045 hours scheduled second sector from OOL to NRT will be at least slightly delayed in departure.

A320 VH-VQW on JQ511 (1215 hours SYD - MEL that was in the sky at 1335 on Thursday 22 June) should arrive at 1457 mid afternoon, 67 minutes late. There was no obvious reason for the delay in SYD as it had earlier arrived about 20 minutes late at 1205 hours on JQ508 ex MEL.

Possibly a charter or an empty working, JQ7993 from NTL to MEL (the larger Airbus, A321 VH-VWT) is suggested as arriving at 1531 instead of what one website suggests was its timetabled arrival of 1030 hours. This aircraft had last operated JQ7992 from MEL to NTL on Tuesday 20 June (but nothing on Wednesday 21): the Tuesday flight landed in Newcastle NSW at 1733 hours.

JQ787 (1350 hours from MCY down to SYD, A320 VH-VFU) became airborne at 1449 so arrival is estimated as 1616 hours, 46 minutes late.

Also on Thursday 22 June, JQ44, the timetabled 1450 hours from DPS down to MEL that took off at 1644 (B788 VH-VKI) is arriving at an estimated 2333 hours, 78 minutes behind schedule.

The AKL - MEL JQ216 (A320 VH-VFH) should arrive 36 minutes late at 2331 hours, delaying the returning JQ217 by 45 minutes to an expected 0030 hours Friday 23 June departure.

Due to the late departure of JQ35 from MEL on Thursday 22 June (go back two posts above), JQ36 from DPS to MEL (B788 VH-VKJ) took off from DPS at 0114 hours on Friday 23 (119 minutes after scheduled departure) and hence should arrive in MEL at 0823, 103 minutes late after being placed in two racetrack-like holds south of Swan Hill and then near Kerang.

JQ15 (B788 VH-VKA), the 0720 hours MEL - CNS was airborne at 0810 and so is not expected to be at its allocated Far North Queensland airport gate until about 1123, 43 minutes tardy. This flight then continues on to KIX at a scheduled 1300 hours ex CNS, so touch wood, that should be on time.

Friday 23 June's JQ521 (A321 VH-VWZ) from SYD to MEL, the 1600 hours that was airborne at 1642 should arrive at 1811 hours, 36 minutes late.

JQ1 from MEL to HNL, the 1550 hours, did not take off until 1714 with B788 VH-VKG. It should have a same day arrival at 0736, 81 late.

The 1615 hours MEL - TSV (JQ916, A320 VH-VQH) took off at 1659; arrival should be at 1949, 34 minutes tardy.

On Saturday 24 June, the 0650 hours early morning MEL down to LST JQ731 (A320 VH-VQL) did not become airborne until 0805, so arrival has been delayed until about 0901 hours, 66 minutes late. JQ730, the 0835 hours back from LST may be able to depart at around 0935.

In turn this will mean JQ508, the 1020 hours MEL - SYD is delayed until at least 1100 in its departure, not 1045 as the Melbourne Airport website claims.

Saturday 24 June's 1640 hours JQ37 from SYD to DPS appears to have been delayed overnight. On Sunday 25 June, B788 VH-VKG is operating replacement flight (?) JQ1037 that was apparently meant to depart at 0750 hours but which instead was airborne at 1019.

Later on Sunday 25 June, JQ7 (B788 VH-VKJ, the 1110 hours MEL - SIN that did not point skywards until 1140) should arrive at 1732 hours, 42 minutes late.

Monday 26 June has JQ62 (B788 VH-VKK, the 0230 hours recently introduced SGN - SYD that was not airborne until 0356) suggested as arriving at 1442 hours, 32 late.

A320 VH-VFG on JQ768, the mid afternoon 1510 hours SYD - ADL that was airborne at 1628 should arrive at approximately 1752 hours, 62 minutes late.

JQ37 (1640 hours SYD up to DPS, also VH-VKK) unsurprisingly did not take off until 1724. Arrival is estimated at 2154 hours, 49 minutes late.

JQ's unimprerssive timekeeping on Australia's busiest air route continues on Tuesday 27 June with the 0825 hours MEL - SYD JQ504 (A320 VH-VQP) not having become airborne until 0955 hours. SYD arrival should be at approimately 1104, 74 minutes late.

FR24 has it then operating JQ721, the 1120 hours SYD - HBA that will be delayed at least 15 minutes, although strangely FR24 also shows it as having (at same stage) been planned to fly as JQ707, the 1040 hours MEL - HBA.

With a domstic fleet largely composed of A320s it is relatively easy for JQ to switch aircraft around to try to minimise unpunctuality but it is unusual to observe FR24 having two conflicting flights featuring publicly.

Wednesday 28 June sees JQ942 (1640 hours MEL up to CNS, A320 VH-VQH) having taken off at 1726. Arrival should be at 2045, 45 minutes late.

Continuing with Thursday 29 June 2017, JQ518 (1615 hours mid afternoon MEL - SYD that was not in the sky until 1704, A321 VH-VWU) should pull in at approximately 1719, 39 minutes behind schedule.

A320 VH-VFY on JQ476 (1630 hours MEL - NTL that took off at 1708 is a predicted 32 minutes late with an 1832 hours arrival suggested.

JQ928 (0630 hours early morning Friday 30 June BNE - CNS, A320 VH-VFL) took off at 0705 with forecast arrival at 0928, 33 minutes late.

The 2235 hours JQ62 from SGN down to SYD (B788 VH-VKI) did not become airborne until 0057 on Friday 30, so it will not be saying goodbye to its passengers until about 1149, 94 minutes late.

Sunday 2 July's JQ766 (1330 SYD across to ADL that was not skywards until 1421, A320 VH-VQM) should arrive at 1552 hours, 42 minutes behind schedule. This will then result in a slightly late departure for JQ783 (1615 hours ADL up to BNE.)

JQ607 (Monday 3 July 1525 hours mid afternoon SYD - AVV that was in the sky at 1607, A320 VH-VQQ) should arrive at around 1733 hours, 33 late. This will delay JQ608 (1735 hours AVV back up to SYD) to about an 1805 hours departure.

Larger, 220 seat A321 VH-VWW on JQ411 (1320 hours early afternoon OOL - SYD that was not in the sky until 1534) should pull in to the mainland harbour city at approximately 1656 hours, 126 minutes late. It then formed the 1600 hours SYD down to MEL (JQ521) that was still in the queue on runway 34R at 1845, so it is expected at the arrival gate in MEL at about 2004 hours which would be 149 minutes behind schedule. This aircraft has been late all day: the rot commenced with JQ503 (0700 hours SYD - MEL) that did not take off until 0903 hours.

JQ519 (the 1751 hours pushback of the 1700 SYD down to MEL, A320 VH-VQW) should be at its allocated airport gate at 1913 hours, 38 minutes late.

Later on 3 July, JQ446 (2000 hours MEL - OOL that was not airborne until 2101, A320 VH-VFF) should arrive at 2301, 61 minutes late.

JQ972 (0715 hours MEL - PER, Tuesday 4 July) has been cancelled as has the returning PER - MEL JQ977 that would normally arrive mid afternoon at 1545 hours.

The 1025 hours SYD - TSV (JQ912, A320 VH-VQG) was in the sky at 1124, so predicted arrival is 1353 hours this afternoon, 43 minutes late.
