Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

Also on 4 July, JQ609, the early evening 1825 hours SYD - AVV that took off at 1918 hours (A320 VH-VQZ) is predicted to pull in 42 minutes late at 2042. This will delay JQ610 from AVV back to SYD, the 2030 hours until a predicted 2110 (which in reality might become 2115 or so.)

Northbound JQ566 (1835 hours MEL up to BNE) was in the sky at 1931, meaning arrival at a likely 2121 hours, 36 late with VH-VGR the taskmaster.

JQ417 (1925 hours OOL - SYD with A321 VH-VWN) became airborne at 2010; arrival is predicted at about 2138 hours, 43 late.

Later on Thursday 6 July, JQ61 (1520 hours afternoon SYD - SGN, B788 VH-VKD) was delayed in taking off until 1637. Forecast arrival is at 2222 hours, 77 minutes tardy. JQ62, the returning 2235 hours flight ex SGN should be able to depart at around the 2340 hours mark.

JQ564 (1350 hours MEL - BNE, A320 VH-VGN) was not in the sky until 1637. It should arrive at about 1837, 157 late.

The 1550 hours from AKL acros to BNE (JQ134, A320 VH-VFQ that was airborne at 1613) is likely to pull in at approximately 1759 hours, 34 late.

Continuing with Thursday 6 July, JQ724 (2000 hours HBA up to SYD that took off at 2100, A320 VH-VQA) should pull in at roughly 2242, 52 minutes behind schedule.

The 2020 hours MEL up to BNE, JQ570 (A320 VH-VFX) was in the sky at 2131; arrival is forecast for 2325 late this evening, 55 minutes tardy.

At 2028 hours, the 1950 hours scheduled JQ948 (MEL - CNS) took off. A320 VH-VQW should arrive at around 2344, 34 late.

On Friday 7 July, JQ518 (1615 hours MEL - SYD that was in the sky at 1709) with A321 Vh-VWX should be in the mainland harbour city at its allocated gate at around 1830 hours, 50 minutes late.

The 1525 hours JQ607 from SYD down to AVV, A320 VH-VFI did not take off until 1702, so arrival is not predicted until 1834 hours, 94 minutes late. JQ608, the 1735 AVV - SYD is showing as departing at 1845 but this is impossible: 1905 will be closer to the mark.

The 1630 hours MEL - BNK, JQ464 is operated by A320 VH-VQM and was in the sky at 1704. A half hour late arrival at 1900 hours is the go.

At 1755, JQ476 (1630 hours MEL up to NTL, VH-VFL) was airborne meaning likely arrival at 1911 hours, 71 late.

It looks like fog may be creating chaos at BNE during the mid evening of Friday 7 July.

While I will leave the expert commentary on fog to the meteorologists and our participating aviators, it looks like this fog may have swirled in very quickly and perhaps was unexpected in its severity as so many flights have been 'caught.' When heavy fog is forecast, it seems ATC does not give departure clearance until it has some confidence that flights may be able to get into an airport.

JQ818 (A320 VH-XSJ, the 1840 hours SYD up to BNE that took off at 1944 hours) got as far north as Nambucca Heads, did a fairly brief holding pattern and is as at 2103 hours returning southwards.

JQ566 (1835 hours early evening MEL - BNE with A320 VH-JQG) took off at 1936 hours, travelled as far north as Tamworth NSW, turned back and is diverting to MEL with expected arrival of 2336 hours. Normal BNE arrival is 2045 hours.

The 2050 hours OOL - SYD (JQ425, A320 VH-VQK) was in the sky at 2117 hours. Arrival is suggested at 2244, 24 late, one of the smaller delays.

JQ797 (1930 hours MCY - MEL that took off at 2113 with A320 VH-VGD) should arrive at 2346 instead of 2200 hours, 106 minutes behind schedule.

JQ610 (A320 VH-VQA, the 2030 hours that did not take off until 2142) is predicted to arrive at 2307 hours, in theory breaching the 2300 hours SYD curfew, instead of its timetabled arrival of 2155 hours.

The 2045 hours from BNE up to DRW (A320 VH-YQZ) took off at 2152 hours so it should be in the NT capital at around 0107 hours on Saturday 8 July, 42 minutes behind the timetable.

There may be some aircraft out of position on Saturday morning 8 July meaning cancellations and late running.

Presumably related to Friday 7 July's mid evening fog in BNE and consequent aircraft being out of position, JQ731, the early morning Saturday 8 July 0650 hours MEL to LST has been delayed until an expected 1055 hours in its departure.

JQ456 (0725 hours SYD - BNK that did not take off until 0856 hours, A320 VH-VQJ) should arrive at 1007 hours, 87 minutes late.

The 0640 hours BNE down to HBA, JQ759, took off at an extremely late 0907 hours. A320 VH-VGA should arrive at 1147, 137 minutes tardy.

The 0630 hours BNE - CNS JQ928 was slightly worse, with it in the sky at 0856. VH-VFT's arrival should be at 1106, 131 minutes past the allotted.

The 0845 hours OOL down to MEL (JQ12, B788 VH-VKF) took off at 0919 so arrival should be at 1134 hours, 34 late.

JQ404 (0815 hours from SYD up to OOL that was in the sky at 0902 hours with A320 VH-VQP) should arrive at 1015 hours, 40 minutes late.

In further on Saturday 8 July, JQ62 (2235 hours Friday 7 SGN - SYD that was not in the sky until 0145 hours today) should arrive at 1232 hours, 137 minutes late.

A321 VH-VWZ on JQ408 (1120 hours SYD - OOL that was in the sky at 1206) is suggested as arriving 45 minutes tardy at 1325 this afternoon.

Presumably related to Friday 7 July's mid evening fog in BNE and consequent aircraft being out of position, JQ731, the early morning Saturday 8 July 0650 hours MEL to LST has been delayed until an expected 1055 hours in its departure....

JQ731 did not take off until 1153 from MEL, landing at 1246 hours. The return JQ730 departure (A320 VH-VFH) was airborne at 1322 after a quick turnaround and should arrive MEL at about 1416 hours, 216 minutes late.

The 1330 hours BNE to MEL JQ565 was not skywards until 1610, so arrival of A320 Vh-VQQ is suggested at 1837, 157 late.

Sunday 9 July has the 0930 hours SYD - MKY JQ784 (A320 VH-VQS) becoming airborne at 1107, two minutes after scheduled arrival in North Queensland. It will therefore be at least 80 minutes late.

There may have been heavy fog at LST this morning as a procession of JQ flights was on the way as at 1130 hours.

JQ731, the 0650 hours MEL - LST took off at 1138 (A320 VH-VGF) with arrival suggested at 1230 hours, 275 minutes late.

The 0910 hours ex MEL, JQ733 (VH-VGD) is following, having become airborne at 1146 for a 1247 hours anticipated arrival, 152 late while JQ735, the 1025 hours that was in the sky at 1150 (VH-VFL) should pull in at roughly 1251 hours, 81 late.

This will delay the 1220 hours MEL - BNE, JQ574 to an expected 1440 hours departure.

JQ511, the 1215 hours SYD down to MEL has been cancelled.

JQ500, first of the morning at 0600 hours from MEL to SYD is continuing JQ's poor timekeeping on this busiest Australian air route with Tuesday 11 July's example not taking off until 0646 hours. A321 VH-VWY should arrive at 0757 hours, 32 minutes late.

JQ502, the scheduled same route and direction 0735 hours departure was airborne at 0817 with A320 VH-VGN. Arrival should be at 0930, half an hour behind the timetable.

JQ64 from SGN to MEL had apparently been delayed overnight. Tuesday 11 July 2017 arrival is estimated at 2322 hours instead of the usually timetabled 1010, so 792 minutes late. Aircraft is B788 VH-VKA.

Wednesday 12 July sees JQ58 (the redeye from DPS to BNE that despite a Tuesday 11 departure time of 2315 hours did not take off until 0113 hours this morning) likely to arrive at 0757 hours, 77 minutes late with B788 VH-VKF.

The 0730 hours MEL - PPP, JQ832, was airborne at 0800 with suggested arrival at 1055 hours, half an hour late for A320 VH-VGF.

Later on Wednesday 12 July, JQ1, the flagship MEL to HNL 1640 hours departure has been delayed until a predicted 2345 hours. It looks to be using the B788 from the arriving JQ44, due in MEL at 2215 per the timetable but fortuitously a few minutes early tonight.

Presumably a B788 has become defective.

The Tuesday 12 July arriving NHL - MEL JQ2 (due in at 1440 hours mid afternoon) should arrive at 0525 hours on Thursday 13.

On Wednesday 12 July, JQ27 (B788 VH-VKH, the 1425 hours mid afternoon SYD up to HKT that did not become airborne until 1613) should arrive at around 2211 hours, 86 minutes behind schedule.
