Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

I might have missed it but JQ7 (MEL-SIN) on 21 November is showing as cancelled.

Perhaps this is one of the routes where they can easily transfer to QF flights?

Good hypothesis MEL_Traveller. Whether it was cancelled due to maintenance being required, other flights being late, unavailable sufficient crew or just low bookings in both directions...who knows. November tends not to be busy because so many Australians are saving their leave to be with family during Christmas and associated school holidays.

Also on Monday 26 November, JQ43, the 1005 hours from MEL up to DPS (B788 VH-VKE) did not become airborne until 1129. Arrival should be at 1418, 83 late.

I don't know how accurate this is but is seems - anecdotally - that at least one major JQ service a week is cancelled? DPS one time, HNL another, SIN another. I noticed this last time a couple years back when I was flying with them to BKK - the same rotation of cancellations seemed to apply... never the same destination multiple times... but one of each (to spread the inconvenience?)

Do they have enough 787s to fly their entire schedule?

I guess I'm interested in how JQ reaccommodate their pax as I have another flight booked with them!

with the 747 QF service from SYD-HNL operating today, I wouldn't be surprised that some people were accommodated to that service.
Also, JQ37 MEL-SYD 14 45 service was cancelled, this also extends to SYD-DPS 17 45 service.

JQ64 SGN-MEL (VH-VKD) 2 00 service did not depart until 4 33, 133 late. It has an estimated arrival time of 16 31, 117 tardy.

Also on Tuesday 27 November 2018, JQ509, the 1045 hours SYD down to MEL took off at 1150. A320 VH-JQX is arriving at 1302, 42 minutes late.

On Monday 26, JQ36 (scheduled 2315 hours redeye from DPS down to MEL, B788 VH-VKE) was not airborne until 0748 on Tuesday 27, so arrival this afternoon is 1535 hours, 455 minutes behind schedule. As Silvia informed us, JQ64 is also late with the updated arrival for it being 1624, 109 late.

JQ29, the 1435 hours MEL - BKK is predicted to depart at 1505 while JQ17, also a mid afternoon departure at 1510 for HKT will not push back until at least 1710 hours.

MEL_Traveller's caution about using JQi (especially ex MEL) may be well founded as while I do not (and cannot) monitor every unpunctual departure or cancellation, there are sufficient of each to render his explanation an arguable one.

Continuing today, JQ432 MEL-OOL 10am service (VH-VFF) did not depart until 13 32, 212 behind. Arrival is suggested at 14 16, 191 late.

Also, JQ512 MEL-SYD (VH-JQX) did not leave until 14 00, 70 late. Recently latnded at 15 01, 46 behind.

Also on 27 November, JQ437, the 1145 hours late morning OOL down to MEL did not take off until mid afternoon - 1511 to be precise - so A320 VH-VFF is not expected at its ramp position until 1815, 190 late.

JQ37, the 27 November 2018 SYD - DPS timetabled to depart at 1745 hours took off at 1854, so B788 VH-VKK should arrive at 2200, an hour tardy.

JQ17 (1520 hours MEL - HKT, VH-VKE) took off far worse than anticipated at 1810 early this evening. It should be at its destination at 2247, 157 late.

A320 VH-XSJ, the 1640 hours BNE down to MEL took off at 1821 with arrival suggested as 2123 hours, 78 late.

The evening ADL to HBA JQ681 - not a city pair that would have been considered viable a decade ago - was in the sky at 2037, 47 minutes after scheduled departure. Arrival for A320 VH-VQZ should be at 2246, 36 minutes tardy.

JQ530 (1815 hours MEL - SYD that pointed skywards at 2023 with A321 VH-VWU) is worse with arrival suggested as 2145, 105 late.

With the extremely heavy rain occurring (and much more forecast) in SYD, many departures have been put back, presumably by ATC.

JQ501, the 0600 hours SYD down to MEL is supposedly departing at 0745 on Wednesday 28 November. JQ719, a departure at the same time but to HBA is showing as an 0750 hours pushback. JQ810, the 0605 up to BNE is an 0745 hours as is identically timed SYD to OOL JQ400. The 0615 hours SYD - CNS, JQ952 is supposedly departing 90 late.

These delays will compound, especially since the weather doesn't look like improving for hours. So far, both 16L and 16R runways are open from what I can see.

B788 VH-VKK on JQ38 from DPS to SYD, the 2230 hours on Tuesday 27 that took off at 2318 is arriving at 0756 hours, 36 late.

JQ719 (first of the morning at a timetabled 0600 ex SYD for HBA on Wednesday 28 November 2018) took off at 0819, so arrival has become a suggested 0957 hours, 122 late.

Also on a very wet Wednesday 28 November 2018 in Sydney, JQ502 (A320 VH-VGZ, trhe 0720 hours MEL - SYD that was in the sky at 1207) should arrive at 1320, 275 minutes behind the schedule.

JQ504 has A320 VH-VFD and is the 0810 hours MEL - SYD that took off at 1254, meaning arrival at 1409, 274 minutes late.

The 1200 'high noon' MEL - SIN, JQ7 (B788 VH-VKE) took off at 1420 so arrival should be at about 1902 hours, 132 late.

Delays from the wet weather in SYD today continue into the evening of Wednesday 28 November with JQ420, the 1505 hours SYD - OOL not taking off until 2013 hours. Arrival should be at 2022, 297 minutes late for A320 VH-VFT. A fast train ('VFT') it most definitely is not in terms of how punctual it is.

In more today,
JQ791 MCY-SYD 18 45 service was cancelled
JQ518 MEL-SYD 20 35 service also cancelled, same with JQ524 MEL-SYD 20 55 flight.

JQ465 BNK-MEL 13 50 service (VH-VQZ) did not leave until 19 02, 312 late. Arrival is expected at 20 56, 294 behind schedule.

JQ1 MEL-HNL 16 35 service (VH-VKK) departed at 20 04, 209 late. Arrival into HNL is scheduled for 8 58, 178 behind schedule. This will have an effect on the service from HNL into Australia.

JQ823 from BNE down to SYD is arriving at an estimated 2313 hours on Wednesday 28 November 2018, so landing after curfew. VH-VGI is the A320.

JQ36 DPS-MEL service diverted back to DPS. The previous leg, JQ35 MEL-DPS was badly delayed, originally scheduled for 18 55, with an actual departure of 12 51, 351 min tardy and arrival of 3 31, 346 late. VH-VKF is the aircraft.

JQ507, the Thursday 29 November 2018 departure from SYD to MEL scheduled at 0825 has A321 VH-VWQ and took off at 0922 hours. Its arrival is showing as 1048, 48 minutes behind schedule but given the amount of holding patterns further south, this may be an underestimate of the delay.

Also on Thursday 29 November, JQ501's passengers, if unable to transfer to other flights, have had a morning to forget.

This 0600 hours first of the morning SYD - MEL took off at 1235 with A321 VH-VWZ. Arrival should be at 1236 hours, 301 minutes late.

JQ407 has A320 VH-JQG and is the 1210 hours MEL - NTL that was in the sky at 1256, so anticipated arrival is 1412 hours, 32 late.

The lunchtime 1250 hours MEL up to SYD, JQ512 (VH-VFQ) was airborne at 1341 so arrival has become 1453 hours, 38 late.
