So confused by SQ refunds as fees for flights cancelled more recently have been refunded but not points, and points have been redunded for the flight cancelled first but no payment refund.

Got an email from SQ last night for our 25th June flights. In Part

Dear Sir/Madam,
Attached in this email is the Refund Notice for your ticket / voucher / EMD.
You will receive the refund within 4 to 6 weeks, to allow time for the banks to carry out the necessary processes for payment.

My early June Award flights were refunded in points and $ for taxes back in May. My wife's flights for her sister and herself on the exact same flights as myself/daughter were still outstanding now in July. So we chased up SQ , they apologised for the delay, posted the points immediately and said the $ would go through. Still waiting on the $ though.

Not SQ, but for the April trip Amex recently refunded the $ for car hire, and also the $200 Travel Credit (Which when I cancelled they said that they would not.

That just now leaves one of our three accommodations to refund. A resort booked through Agoda. Agoda off their own bat cancelled the booking and said they would refund. The refund has not yet arrived.

On flights, we had also bought one flight via Expedia for the daughter's boyfriend. It was bought asa Virgin Codeshare on SQ just to add to the complexity.
Expedia kept offering a travel credit and I kept asking for a cash refund. In the end I did a cashback with Amex as it was paid with an Amex, and they reversed the payment within days. In my claim I detailed my contacts with Expedia and their refusal to refund. Importantly too Expedia cancelled the flight, and not myself.

SQ have now advised that when flights are cancelled by passengers the refunds will be processed the month after travel was booked for, where the flights were cancelled by SQ the refunds are done straight away.

With My wife's July flights all cancelled we were waiting on the points to re-appear back in my account. i have tried to book flights for same time next year. I rang SQ Krisflyer and the agent has arranged a J Class booking for next July. The ticket has not been issued as yet as they are arranging to expedite the return of my points before they can issue a new ticket. I can see the reservation is held only for 72 hours. Hoping this happens. its been 24 hours already and I have not heard from them.

Well that sounds totally ridiculous. If true do they really expect someone to wait up to 12 months to receive a refund? I cancelled my January 2021 flights at the start of June. Do they actually believe that I will accept waiting until February 2021 (7-8 months) to be refunded? Particularly when they have already taken payment of 4xUS$75 points reinstatement fee?

I gave Krisflyer another call yesterday. The agent sent another email to expedite the return of my points. Last night I received 58,000 points back and an email saying I would receive my fees back in 4-6 weeks. ( I have 28,000 points still to be returned.) With the points I had in my account it was enough for the J Class booking I made on Sunday with the agent. Logged on to my account this morning and confirmed the booking , picked the seats I wanted and paid the $86 in Fees. Now just got to wait for my outstanding points and fees to be returned.

Well SQ are speeding up. :)

My 28 July flights back from Paris had points refunded on 20 July. The email said that fees would also be returned within 4-6 weeks. The other times this has only been days, and so hopefully this time to.

This complete my batch of award redemption refunds except one where I did it online and they charged the redeposit free. I rang them at the time and they stated they would refund that free, but there would be a delay.

So with all my points back that is 2.1 million points sitting there. And sadly it is the first time for well over a decade that I have not had at least one award redemption already booked and waiting :(

I’m starting to get annoyed now. I emailed SQ last week asking for an update and still no Reply. This is for a cancellation back in April flying in May.
190k points and $850 awaiting.

I called up again today to express my displeasure. They charged my credit card US$300 for 4 PAX miles reinstatement fee and seem to think that it’s acceptable to still be holding the circa $800 + 363k miles refund I’m owed two month later. Was given the same “I will escalate for you” nonsense again. Not happy at all.

Cancellation of points flight with taxes made on-line 1 April. Got an e-mail saying, yes, accepted, will do.
Called abt mid may to check - said was 'in process but cannot give you a time yet'.
Called 18 June and told already escalated and points and $ would be back in 48 work hours (I knew the $ bit was BS). Absolutely assured, all done & dusted.
I remembered to check yesterday - nothing.
Got the name of a person to address an e-mail to & sent yesterday. Just got a mostly canned response from some other person asking for some 'verification' information. So I was absolutely lied to on the last call; I will generously concede not necc by the agent, but by SQ's 'systems'.

i can't believe any airline could be worse than Qantas, but SQ has managed it.

I called again about 3 weeks ago. Got some sort of escalation 'Pass ID' number. Just more BS I expect.

Today, got e-mail saying miles back in the account - they were - 15 weeks. Said taxes etc could be 4-6 weeks, so 19-25 weeks.

My God, if you ever see anyone absolutely rat-faced in the Private Room, that will be me, having extracted a toll of Krug from SQ in part compensation for the run-around.

I'm not sure how, but I just cancelled a redemption booking due to fly in September, through the app. Singapore Airlines seems to have extended their waiver on award reinstatement fees until September. The points came back straight away. I was also advised that the taxes had been refunded and would be with me within 10 days. I feel very lucky!

Was due to fly late July. Flights were cancelled around end of June. Got the points back in 2-3 weeks, still waiting for the $.

The $$ hit my credit card account today.
A loss due to the recent strengthening of the AUD

Cancelled a late September redemption ticket on Tuesday using the special form - both points and taxes are showing as back in Krisflyer and credit card respectively as of today.
