KUL SIN lounge crawl 7 June 2015

I thought I might give this thread a bump.

QF have sale fares to KUL and SIN for $660 and $649 respectively. Until 3/2.

Any more thoughts on dinner in KUL on the 6th?

Not sure if I'm in yet and not exactly on the chilli crab/satay theme.

But can I suggest Fuego, which is the South American bar grill, in Troika (a collection of a number of restaurants in the sky above the connecting buildings) which is an easy walk from the DT and IC.

Had lunch at Strato just after Xmas which was excellent and very good value. Cantaloupe is also meant to be great, but Fuego has the views.

If not doing the lounge before hand I would also recommend sunset drinks at the aviation related HeliLounge Bar

I'm very interested.

Just so I'm on the same page as everyone else (I'll need to sell this to SWMBO and want to try and get it right the first time) - the general plan(ish) (assuming that you want to do everything) is:

Be in KUL on Saturday the 6th (possible dinner event).
Take an early(ish) KUL-SIN flight on Sunday the 7th (preferably MH to increase lounge crawl options)
Lunch Singapore itself (not airport)
Singapore lounges in the evening of the 7th.
Fly out late evening 7th (preferably OW to increase lounge crawl options)

That's pretty much on the spot.
For the KUL-SIN leg, MH is pretty much the only option if you want to do the KUL portion of the crawl. In SIN, any OW flight will work, although being on a QF flight will also allow you access into the EK lounge, which would be the preferred option.

Well please put me down for 2 definite maybes. I'll look to book some flights before the weekend is out and the current QF sale is over. I'll have to play around with whether we go up to KUL or just stay in Singapore and start at the lunch and then do the EK lounge that evening.

I was thinking of doing he same as you are planning. HKG was good last year with just the one departure point and an interesting group of AFF devotees. While the KUL stop over sounds like a must do I think I will make arrangements to be in SIN for the lunch and then depart on the evening of 7th June.

Thought I should add this, there have been some tweaks to the MH KUL-SIN schedule for the date concerned. The new timetable is as per below:

MH611 0925-1020
MH603 1150-1255
MH623 1340-1445
MH619 1445-1545
MH605 1535-1635
MH613 1725-1825
plus a few later ones.

For those who want a lunch landside in SIN, the first 2 flights are the only useful ones.

MH have added a flight for the 7th:

MH627 1020-1125

That might suit those like me who would like a slightly more relaxed start than the 0925 flight would allow, but still be in SIN in time for lunch.

As far as I can see, the sale fares on QF aren't as low as they were and unfortunately that leaves me out of the running. Chicka has expressed displeasure at me choosing MH too, despite it not bothering me, so I am unfortunately out! :(

I'm seeing around $660 from Sydney.

They must have been keeping track of this thread!

I have booked my flights and will be with EK to and from KUL on the 5th and 8th.

Now to book the MH flights to SIN ...

Ouch very early morning flight out of mel and no F lounge open!! :o lol the EK lounge will do I guess? ;)

Would I be safe to assume that most (if not all) of the KUL group will be on MH627 (1020-1125) for KUL-SIN?

Possibly if that's what everyone else is doing. I will leave booking until as late as possible.

We would want to be careful though. If the deep discount buckets are sold out, the prices can be very scary.

And I wouldn't bother with getting an earn-eligible booking class - unless you really need that 5 SCs and 52 QFF points.
