Life Time Gold - The [Realistic] Holy Grail

The general consensus of posting I've seen on AFF suggests that BA staff tend to not notice they're part of an alliance and are a law unto themselves when it comes to lounge access. I've only entered a BA lounge, LHR T3, twice and not had an issue, but I've read of many. Thus, I'd have expected a Qantas Lifetime Member, with a card with no expiry date, getting odd looks by the 'dragons' and difficulty in getting access. Just because.
I have to admit the BA lounge staff are the least pleasant I have experienced. They always seem to regard a question as a deliberate attempt to disturb and inconvenience them. :)

Ba have moved away from requesting a card at their own lounges (at least in UK/Europe). They instead scan your bp and the computer tells them if you're eligible.

In my experience, the card is almost invariably requested at BA Lounges. In fact, both cards, if there are two of us travelling, each with OW status.
Can recall only one occasion in recent years, where we were admitted on the BPs alone.

Just a Gold (or Silver) card with "LIFETIME MEMBER" where the Expiry field and date would ordinarily be.

I believe it's just Gold (or Silver) on the BP.

Never had any issues when I used my QP Life card (about 6-8 times I think).

All trips I've done in the last year and a half or so (Y/J) I've never been asked for my card, so as Mal says they seem to just scan BP and do it that way. Mine is BA status, but Mal's is still QF (for now ;)).

Am sitting in the QP in PER & in half an hr will be boarding my LTG flight. It has been such a wonderful journey this last couple of years.

October 2006 I joined QFF. The last 1.75 years I have earnt 8,000 SC's & boy has it been fun. I enjoy every aspect of being a Frequent Flyer, the aiprots, the planes, the lounges (especially EK's first lounge in DXB,wowzers) the cab rides in unfamiliar cites, the hotels & also the many boarding passes I have kept & are in a draw, with ofcourse my P1 membership kit, & LTS letter which from advice from memebrs it will be framed & on a wall, just like the LTG I will receive in the mail shortly.

Thanks heaps to all the AFF members on here that have contributed to some awesome stories & very knowledgeable advice/tips on here.

This is also my P1 qualifying flight for the 2nd year, which is great because I see that P1 is getting better from what it was this time last year.

I see many many more SC's on QF in my future & hope, just hope, one day LTP will be achievable. Maybe not anytime soon, but hopefuly one day, as so many people have said before, what to do now? whats left? whats the next challenge? Credit to other airlines & programs... I would rather much stay very loyal to QF, I just hope QF stay loyal to us.

Thanks AFF & QF :)

Well done mate!! Good times...

Seems like you really enjoy flying and that's very important when you spend so much time in the air.
I wish you many more years of happy traveling and keep enjoying all the P1 perks.

Qantas is one of the best airlines in the world and I hope they will stay like that for many years to come and maybe one day... LTP for me too :)

The last 2 years have been pretty darn cool. Basically 3/4 my travel is work Dom in whY last 2 years (200 flights in whY) I do a 9 & 5 roster.

The other 1/4 is personal, QF International is mixed up of Y & J, & AA Dom in F.

1230 SC's on AA metal & the rest 6770 SC's on QF metal

Awesome! Enjoy burning those points, too :)

Pretty excited - i will reach LTG on Tuesday on a Y trip to PER. Started really flying QF hard in Jan 2009 and with the help of long haul J have got there in 4.5 years. Happy with that! Currently WP.

Now, who to credit OW flights to...

... perhaps AA for superior burn rates?

Congrats, certainly a good feeling to be over the line :)

I am so far away it's not funny.
In fact even LTS isn't the buzz I am looking for ( already QP life member )
But I notice that I have 4067 status credits.
I am wondering how I managed 7 SC's along the way

I'm approx 1,600 SC's away from getting LTG. I would have gave got it this flying year based on previous flying patterns.

However, a change in jobs has kyboshed LTG for the forseeable future, apart from two sales kickoff's in this year and the next in SIN, there aren't any other business flights.

The consolatian is that I get see my family every night, a considerable pay increase and WP until July 2014.

Hope QF don't move the goal posts for LTG for the next few years.

Looks like i'm doing a DONE4 (I think this is the name for it) for work in J. I dont think I'll be successful in sneeking too many connections in, however On the way home I have thrown in a bunch of first class connections in the USA getting me up to 1230 for the trip.

Should be a good start on the way to LTG :) I just need 1 or 2 of these trips a year.

Don't forget that the four ~ flights will still be required once you've attained LTG.

i thought LTG meant exactly that, lifetime (well QFF,s lifetime anyway). I haven't seen anywhere that you still need the 4 QF flights.:(
