Life Time Gold - The [Realistic] Holy Grail

I wondered the same, but also how many of these actually use it or still have enough annual SC for SG, WP or P1 ?

Yeah sounds like a survey question.
Do you hold:
QF LTG and use it
QF LTG but qualify as SG
QF LTG but qualify as WP
QF LTG but qualify as WP1
QF LTG but qualify as CL
QF LTG but no longer fly QF

Or something similar.

I suspect the greater number may be how many are now disengaged with the program or fly other airlines.
However - I believe there is a larger commercial picture, especially if we venture into the world of status which doesn't require flying to retain.

In this sense, what frequent flyers see, and why an FFP dishes out lifetime status are likely different reasons.

I'll answer the survey.

I've had LTG since 2008 which is the year that I retired.

I will ONLY fly QF domestically so I still use it - albeit only 2 or 3 times a year.

Since retiring I have been O/S twice and flew J with QF & CX on those occasions, so lounge access was not an issue for me or SWMBO.

Now my passport has lapsed and I have no intention of renewing it so it will be domestic use only and I do value the lounge access that I have with it.

FWIW

Another survey answer:

LTG since 2012/13
Since then VA get my domestic flts and SQ/EY the intl J/F stuff - all self funded and enough for Plat

When the SCs from the flight I just took post, I too will reach LT Gold.....The golden shackles will be gone and I will try out other airlines internationally...Qf's soft and hard J product is just not up to scratch esp for the amount they want to charge for it!

....and the SCs posted overnight so officially LTG now :)

What happens to my lifetime (bought) Qantas Club membership now? Wonder if I can get any pro rata refund!?

I have been told that it is actually possible. I think I'll give it a try anyway.
keep us informed - I have one kid with LTS and another about to get it. They also have LTQC and while I think they will have more than had their money's worth (or my money's worth :) ) by the time they get to LTG it would be interesting to know. When I bought it for them I think I worked out if they had 10 years use out of it it would be worth it and both of them are on more than that now.

One wonders how a pro-rata refund of a lifetime membership might work!:mrgreen:

I think this can only be calculated after death unfortunately....

I have just emailed QF asking for a pro rata refund...will let you know what they say?!

Three out of four in our family have Qantas Club Life and one missed it because he was under 18 and ineligible when it ended.
Now two of us are Lifetime Gold and our youngest son flys business class almost all the time on domestic flights because he has access to QF,VA and AA points and miles so he isn't bothered with Status Credits at all.
I think I will be able to hear Qantas admin laughter over in Perth kpc but if you win they may use life tables from a previous century to get you nine tenths of two tenths of sweet bugger all.
I do hope you win!
I thought I heard Velocity had a deal at around $30,000 so we all did ok with our Qantas Club Life memberships that were Christmas presents so many years ago.

No harm in asking right?!
