Life Time Gold - The [Realistic] Holy Grail

I'm getting closer to LTG. Should hit it sometime next year. Can't wait, as my shackles to OW will be loosened then...

travellerqff,

excellent to be getting LTG!

But what now? ;)

I am one of those frustrated LTG's who still flies QF but not really sure why. LTP is a dream.

The QFF program has a definite limit, which is not really ok in the modern world of almost every product offers ever more targets to keep you in. I have LTG, Qantas has always said LTP will never happen. I fly a lot so have next years P1 renewal guaranteed. There is no higher level. So what do I do now? Not even half way through the year? SC now mean nothing. That is so hard. How can that be? In any program. Every single SC I "earn" as of today have NO value.

Big flaw in the QFF system. Rejoice in your LTG status (and I really loved achieving it). And now look at other options..... there is NOTHING left for you in QFF.

This isn't the thread for the discussion, but why don't you consider BA? With your level of flying you could get to their version of LTG I am sure (LTP). Granted, their sweet spots for status are really if you head West or fly into London, which you do not as much (from what I can tell), but the lifetime status they have remains viable.

Speaking of looking ahead, which OW FF programme offers Lifetime Platinum (OWE) that is available to Australians?

Good question, I am almost at P1 for the first time, so may as well enjoy that. I’d like to use BA for future crediting but I fear AY may be the other option.

Finnair is the only one I think when excluding BA.

Also Iberia, which gives you a program earning Avios that is accessible to Australians: Iberia Plus: Infinita Card - Iberia

Edit: Adding - LTP seems surprisingly easy with IB... unless I'm missing something. 125,000 Elite Points since joining, which according to their tables is achievable by flying business return Aus to Asia 125 times! Some would do that in 2-3 years, easy. How to get Elite Points - Iberia

Well I have made it. It took a bit of to and fro with QF as my qualifying flight was a MH codeshare on KA which was not originally credited.

But the real credit for being able to reach this milestone goes to AFFers who have shared so much. When I joined six and a half years ago my goal was just to reach gold. Never thinking that lifetime gold was in my future. What a ride.

Thank you.

Well done JT - hopefully this time next year I'll be the same and I am sure it wouldn't have happened without all the wonderful people on AFF
