There you go....

I'm hanging out too. I've only 300SC's to go (after 26 years too), which hopefully should come in through the Top Up SC's

Thank you kookaburra75 I shall expect this as my boarding call going forward ... !! 😁

Similar to myself, I don't expect yous will really need to use this until your (standard) flying drops below SG level anyway ....

Congrats! If its anything like my experience don't expect even an email. If I wasn't looking online I would have no notice I got to LTG

Well after joining QFF in 2012 and my ‘real’ flying only commencing from 2016, I can finally say that thanks to QF’s generous StatusKeeper that I have achieved LTG. Ironically this is about the same time I forecast I would hit LTG based on my pre-COVID planned travel for this year.

I like to think that at 30 years of age I will get many years out of LTG provided QF is still flying and the benefits are not ‘enhanced’ too much. Now on to the next milestone - LTP. With ‘only’ 60,440 SCs to go and considering my prior 5 year average SC count of ~2,700, it will take me at least another 22 years to reach. Whilst not impossible, certainly unlikely.

I'm not sure what your circumstances are but it might be worth doing some research on BA's lifetime Gold (Oneworld Emerald). Even starting from 0 today you might be surprised that it can be quicker to get lifetime OWE faster with BA than continuing with QF.

It seems though that you are likely earning enough to maintain QF WP every year so maybe this balances it out for you.

I'm a few hundred SC's away from LTG with QF and after which it's better for me to switch everything to a BA earn.

Do you need to fly 4 segments with BA to get their gold status (which is equivalent to our platinum) @Stevo.1702 ?

Yes, which is why it may not be worth it for some.

My rate of flying here forward will only be enough to maintain QF Gold and 90% domestic. When I obtain LTG it's better for me to funnel towards BA. Not for everyone but always worth looking at what the other options are.

Yes, it's a thought that has certainly crossed my mind now that I've made LTG. Excluding any specific requirement re number of flights etc, I did run the numbers and found the exercise to be interesting nonetheless.

Last membership year I earned 3,725 SC from flying (excl any loyalty bonuses etc) which to date was my highest total. Translating that into Tier Points I would have earned 2,805. If I maintained that level of flying (highly unlikely) then it would take me ~12.5 years to earn LTP with BA vs ~16 years with QF. Of course that calculation doesn't take into account any loyalty bonus SCs or potential DSC on QF that might happen over the 16 year period meaning that number in theory could be less.

However, if I took a more standard year where I might travel once to UK, US and Asia respectively then I would earn 1,430 SC on QF easily re qualifying for WP but only 1,480 TPs theoretically missing out.

At least I've got a bit more time to think about it given I won't be going anywhere anytime soon!

Well done, welcome to the club.

BA marketed or operated?

E.G. QF*BA codeshare eigibility?
But you won't find any QF operated BA codeshares available as Australian domestic itineraries. You need to leave the country to be able to book an itinerary that includes a BA codeshare flight number.
