Life Time Gold - The [Realistic] Holy Grail

I remember getting a quite pathetic letter when I attained LTG. I believe there has previously been either a thread or several posts about the letter. I've not yet dropped back from WP therefore I haven't seen a LTG pack.

Matches my experience.

I've been sitting at 13,9XX SCs for a couple of years now. But the latest 125 SC gift from Qantas finally pushed me into LTG status.

I can attribute about half of my LTG status to crediting American Airlines status runs to QF when our dollar was around parity for a few years. I think I did about 6 or 7 status runs once every year.

LTP is laughable, so all future QF flights eligible for earning are going straight to AA or AS :)

I'm now extremely happy with the offer from Qantas. Another 150 SCs to come from StatusKeeper and I'm nearly there to LTG - much sooner than I was hoping for. Plus another 10 SC from the Luxury Hotel stay at the end of the month. Happy days.

Thanks Qantas for the CV status bonus! Only 335 more to get! Wonder how many years that will take.:)

That's close enough to my target, we could start a competition - even place a small wager :)

I too remember getting a so-so letter and a card with very little fanfare. Interesting that I just got 300SC added to my account. Is that supposed to encourage me to get another 900 by May 2021? 😉

Well after joining QFF in 2012 and my ‘real’ flying only commencing from 2016, I can finally say that thanks to QF’s generous StatusKeeper that I have achieved LTG. Ironically this is about the same time I forecast I would hit LTG based on my pre-COVID planned travel for this year.

I like to think that at 30 years of age I will get many years out of LTG provided QF is still flying and the benefits are not ‘enhanced’ too much. Now on to the next milestone - LTP. With ‘only’ 60,440 SCs to go and considering my prior 5 year average SC count of ~2,700, it will take me at least another 22 years to reach. Whilst not impossible, certainly unlikely.

Yes I remember my letter fondly... Not!

Still, it has come in very handy to get additional baggage when in Australia and flying Qantas. My BA OWE doesn't get the same allowances as my QF OWS (gold). Go figure!

I would be interested to know how many have ticked over to LTG thanks to the statusKeeper payments
While there are undoubtedly some, I'm guessing it doesn't bother QF too much to allow this as these individuals were likely to earn SC by flying at the current time anyway. For example, had I not flown in March and earned LTG from flying at the start of my new membership year, I would have earned it from my European adventure in June that didn't happen, and instead the approximate number of SC I would have earned was credited for free (or will be at the start of my new membership year in 2021 as is the case).

Oh I agree with the comments about QF caring, I also would’ve hit LTG around this time anyway without covid. I was just curious on the numbers that were this close that was all

I will effective 1-Sep. Without covid I'd have probably cracked this in July.

It's not completely "free and gifted" by QF - they still hold 140SCs worth of my cash in vouchers.
