Life Time Gold - The [Realistic] Holy Grail

I reached LTG yesterday - at last!

The first thing I have noticed on my account summary is that my lifetime total has now disappeared. It only says "you have attained lifetime gold recognition". Not even "congratulations you have reached lifetime gold recognition" ;)

The lifetime total still features on paper statements.

Congratulations - I still have a few years to go. :)

Well done!

I'm going to be there in two years. I'm still looking to move all my flights to AA after that. I wonder whether writing to QANTAS and saying "the lack of a lifetime status after LTG has me leaning towards crediting to AAdvantage from now on - but if there was a published LTP, I would continue to credit to QANTAS. Would you please consider announcing this?"

I wonder what would happen if lots of people did this?

They would ignore you, as they have done others for the life of the programme. ;)

Congratulations, you will get a letter welcoming you to the ranks.

Other than that, little else.. If you want to keep a check on your future life time balance, ensure as a WP, you get paper statements.

Long term Platinum could be set at 28,000, 42,000 or even 56,000 SCs to keep the big SC collectors in the camp.

Let's face it, BAEC Lifetime Gold/OWE is rather high at 35,000 TP (23 years of BAEC Gold), or Gold Guest List at 100,000 TP (66 years of BAEC Gold, or roughly 33 years of Gold Guest List). Finnair sits Lifetime Platinum/OWE at 5 million TP, or about 33 years of Finnair Platinum. QF LTG/OWS is currently just under 12 years of WP. You'd think that there's a case for if someone has run up 28000 or more SCs then you'd want to make sure they had a reason to keep flying with them as their business travel dropped off - even LTG doesn't have me satisfied - after you've tasted WP, you don't want to go back, even when you retire.

Serfty I don't think LTG even puts you above the regular Gold traveller? Now I could be totally wrong here, and wish I was.

I don't believe it does in any special way - PCV's may be affected somewhat but that is conjecture on my part.

I'm getting close to it, but have such shaky confidence in the future of QF as an ongoing concern, I'm really not that fussed. LTG is for QF's lifetime, not mine. I really hope they stick around, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Congratulations! I'll hit LTG this year, I hadn't thought about what to do to celebrate, but that is a great idea!

I now keep a spreadsheet to track the total - as I continue to wait in vain for the call to LT WP .

Congrats to those who have attained LTG - The Holy Grail!

Disappointed to report I have not yet attained The Holy Thimble - LTS! Though if I intend to keep WP this year (end May) I will make LTS then. Barring unforeseen circumstances it would be at least 8 years before LTG!

JohnK have you heard anything from QF since getting LTG? eg letter, new card or anything?

I reached LTG nearly a month ago but haven't received any acknowledgment from QF except on my FF profile. (And yes, my contact details are up to date :) )

Congrats John! Fingers crossed they bring in (or back) LTP!

I'm not even halfway to LTS so LTG seems well out reach at this stage.

I got a letter about 6-8 weeks after hitting the mark. No card as they only send it when you actually need it I.E. when you are lower than Plat.
