Life Time Gold - The [Realistic] Holy Grail

So long as complimentary lounge access remains a benefit of QF Gold... think AA.

What I think Anna is referring to is OW (ie non-QF) lounge access.

Whilst you are correct about the AA rules that only apply to their own elites, it appears that you two are talking about different situations.

I think trippin_the_rift more meant if QF decide to 'enhance' lounge access for their own elites, and do an AA, effectively meaning that it's useless when travelling within Australia, unless you a) pay or b) are travelling as part of an international itinerary. That'd be a pretty huge loss of benefits for any LTG'er.

I agree with the content of both of your posts, however that has nothing to do with what was referred to about the OW agreement - where you can access other OW lounges that are not QF operated due to OWS status.

Again, two different situations.

Question to all LTG'ers - re all discussions about quality of services and also the possible sale of QFF, upon achieving LTG, do you continue with QF or start building relationships with the other carriers?

I want to ask EK for a lifetime gold status match, because I suspect EK's lifetime might be longer than QF's :p

And yes, Kangol is correct, I was talking about the OW benefits attached to being OWS, not the QF benefits that are attached to SG.

Clearly this was something important to the OP so good luck to him. But...

What are the benefits of lifetime gold for a person who regularly qualifies for platinum? (Apart from the fact you never have to worry about requalifying but that doesnt seem to be an issue for many of you). Seems to me that it is a benefit from flying that you use when you are no longer flying much!!

I am not sure I will be able to maintain Platinum at some point in the future.

I have heaps of QFF points I want to spend on OW awards and I have s healthy Amex MR point balance for the trips to Thailand.

Lounge access and more importantly priority check-in are very important. Ssw the economy queues in BKK the other day and they were frightening.

Congratulations JohnK.
I'll be LTS in March and will certainly be making a concerted effort to get to LTG in the future.
You have certainly done a lot of your flying the hard way. You deserve it.

Well done JohnK! This is truly quite an achievement when we consider you travel mostly in dom Y. I hazard to think how that has prematurely aged you ;)

I've got about 4,000 SCs to join you, probably 2-3 years away, but looking forward to joining the club!

FWIW, at the recent QF Rockpool lunch, Lesley Grant said that QF had no plans to have LTP level or change the SCs needed to achieve LTG.
Perhaps I have it wrong.

I vaguely remember that Lifetime Platinum was mentioned unofficially at the Rockpool lunch in March. And I have also read posts on AFF mention the same rumour.

Either way I do not think it will be easy to achieve but as mentioned I have nothing to lose continuing to accrue QFF SCs.

Congrats JohnK.
As a UK resident, Qantas shows me little love, in fact 90% of their offers don't apply to me, or are misplaced. 35 sc from retaining WP for another year (end Feb), and I question why I even care about QF. Some serious pondering happening.

In fairness Qantas is an Australian airline, with just two flights a day to the UK, so of course the bulk of their offers won't apply. That said 4 years living in the UK flying BA short haul J everywhere got me from LTS to about 100 points short of LTG (since achieved of course). So not all bad. Just had to make a trip back to Aus on Qantas metal every year to get my 4 Qantas metal sectors to keep my then (but since long gone) Platinum status.

Correct, but that in itself is not a bad thing. The past few years I've had a break from intensive work travel, so much so if I didn't have LTG I wouldn't even make silver. But having LTG makes all the world of difference on the occasional domestic work trip I make or on the annual holiday flight me and the wife make to Europe or to Thailand (where she is from). About to start some semi intensive work flying again, but think it will be mostly Star carriers rather than OneWorld which will be a bummer.

PS congrats John.

Nice achievement JohnK

Can you share some of >14,000 SC to me ;) I have not earnt one QF SC for almost two years now! wahaha

I reached LTG yesterday - at last!

The first thing I have noticed on my account summary is that my lifetime total has now disappeared. It only says "you have attained lifetime gold recognition". Not even "congratulations you have reached lifetime gold recognition" ;)
