I achieved the same around the same time - the letter arrived at the end of last week - just after I had "celebrated" with a JQ35 flight to MEL (never again). I am currently in transition between jobs and once that is determined I will definitely be looking at the AA program if I can maintain status - earn/burn is a big factor but ease of qualification on QF might be the decider...

A very astute member here once suggested that LTG should entitle you to a head start on WP... But Qantas doesn't listen. Nor do they care.

I'm LTS, as are no doubt at least tens of thousands of other people. Does that mean we should get a head start on higher levels every year too? That would be plain crazy.

Yes it is a crazy suggestion to reward loyalty.

It would seem random Double SCs offers and cheap any seat awards are a much better and acceptable head start.

Having just read the MASA thread, I think some people are seeing their platinum, and LTG dreams going up in smoke, if the cheap ASAs go away.. Cheap ASAs and Double SC promotions in conjunction with each other seems a bit of a lark to me!

I totally agree. However, I would also add cheap as chips status runs that appear to be very popular with some!

5sc left to go for LTG after my BA flight today.. Then the hard thought process occurs as to what I do with Qantas. Living in the UK I see no love from them... And the horrible earns on BA Y flights pretty much seals the deal.

But I assume you could accurate miles with BA while using QF card for lounge access etc.?

Yep. My qf year ends in Feb. Have 770sc to go before I renew WP. So will probably do that first and then I have at least 12 months to build up my BA status.

Want to congratulate you on that, soon to be achievement, but then realised that even with the amount of travel you do, BA will probably fight you on the validity of a lifetime card every visit, so it's not really worth it

Well done on LTG. Having been a QFF since 1995 I only hit LTS this year! And I wouldn't have been close without all the info I've gained here.

Must do more (i.e. any) INT flying in the next few years...

Could you explain that for me? Wouldn't it just be on the boarding pass as sapphire so automatic entry, or do BA ask to see the card each time?

In my experience, the card is almost invariably requested at BA Lounges. In fact, both cards, if there are two of us travelling, each with OW status.
Can recall only one occasion in recent years, where we were admitted on the BPs alone.

Thanks- we have always been either in F or CE when using BA lounges, so never needed it. Usually have it with me of course, but I'll store that in the memory banks for future use

Should have been clearer in my post. That experience of almost always being required to produce a card applies to travel in F, along with other classes. So yes, best to have the card close at hand.

Just a Gold (or Silver) card with "LIFETIME MEMBER" where the Expiry field and date would ordinarily be.

The general consensus of posting I've seen on AFF suggests that BA staff tend to not notice they're part of an alliance and are a law unto themselves when it comes to lounge access. I've only entered a BA lounge, LHR T3, twice and not had an issue, but I've read of many. Thus, I'd have expected a Qantas Lifetime Member, with a card with no expiry date, getting odd looks by the 'dragons' and difficulty in getting access. Just because.
