Mine have been good. I checked when I got to the store a week or so a go and the app said I was two behind, so I split the transaction into three payments. After paying I checked the app and it said I was local champion and when the points came through a few days later I got local champion bonuses for the three transactions.

That's what normally happens for me. Pending transactions instantly register within the LC system and your status is updated there and then. Not so with this particular outlet. Anyway, I have spoken to Amex now and the agent knew about and understood how LC works but couldn't give me an answer straightaway. They are going to call me back towards the end of the week.

Becky B, welcome to AFF. You could go over to the introductions thread and say hello. Also, tell us where you are based so that we can help when necessary.

So what is the start and end date for this promotion or is this a continually rolling month? Do you know how far in front of your nearest rival you are? ...just trying to get my head around it.

Q: When do points from being Local Champion post?

I just became Local Champion at my Local Supermarket. Normal points have now posted at the normal 3:1 with no extra LC point.

Do Local Champion Points normally post with each qualifying transaction, or are though posted later?

Must be one of the only people using this in Adelaide as I'm LC at 5 different locations!

Have discovered a minor timesaver that seems to work at Coles. Rather than do multiple whole separate transactions to reach LC, you can use the split payment option and pay $1 at a time. However, no guarantee the transactions will register in the right order so you may wish to wait a minute or two before doing a 'big' shop

This method doesn't seem to be working for me any more.
Will see if the multiple separate shops method still does and report back

Same, I did a couple of splits last week or the week before and the difference between me and the local champion didn't change. It has worked before, but not this time.

I hope that they have clamped down on this as it is completely against the spirit of the competition. I would also like to see a say $2 min spend as well.

Fair comment. Personally i wouldnt be averse to a max transction per day limit but it does become a bit of an arms race with current rules

Hi all.

I have made a transaction for $2 milk at coles and it does not show on the local champion. It has been 1 day. I have made several small transactions at different coles on my list and again it does not show. Sometimes through self checkout sometimes assisted checkout. Even large transactions don't always show up on the coles - maybe last month or so this has happened.

How did you go? I have also noticed none of my many varied transactions at Coles are moving me closer to regaining LC status. Anyone else having issues?

Also having issues. With one local merchant I shopped regularly each week, and became Local Champion quickly and retained it. Then I was away a couple of weeks and lost it for that merchant. When I got back I had two transactions required to achieve Local Champion again. So I purchased and my position didn't change. Subsequently on two days in the next week I again purchased goods and the indicator didn't move. Still stuck on 2 transactions to go. Have raised the matter with Amex by phone, but they are investigating and yet to ring me back.

Ever since Amex updated their app to include android et al. platforms, the whole system seems buggy. I've regained and lost LC at several stores when I haven't purchased anything in them for a number of weeks. I've also noticed it's a lot harder to determine where LC points are accumulated from. With the old system, the LC points displayed under each purchase.

I had the same issue. Rang twice and have never recevied the promised call back. Seems to be working OK for me again though so I didn't bother to chase.

Half the battle is that some agents have never heard of LC so that makes the conversation very difficult.

I understand that only Primary cardholders can benefit from Local Champion transactions ...but can the Supplementary card holder have their own list of 10 places they can gain points for? When my wife signs in to the ios app as a supplementary card member she does not see the Local Champion entry in the app. Is this to be expected?

Do note you that you can lose LC by your purchases from earlier in the month dropping off (similarly you can attain LC by someone else's monthly purchase expiring).

I too am having issues. I have 2 cards enrolled in LC but I only use one. This gives me the advantage of knowing how many transactions I am in front of someone who has just joined. Lately I have lost my LC status at Coles and Liquorland because the system is not recognising my purchases. I know this because the app tells me that I need 3 and 5 more purchases to regain LC. The card I don't use tells me the same. I have made 15 purchases at Coles and 8 at Liquorland in the last 30 days. I have contacted Amex and have been told I am the first person to query the LC game! They are going to get back to me.....
