Lots of TG J award availability to/from Sydney

I noticed recently that Thai Airways has now released a lot more award availability on its SYD-BKK route, including in J. You can book using any Star Alliance airline miles, e.g. LifeMiles or KrisFlyer miles.

There are lots of seats available in J over the next two weeks, then nothing over Christmas but lots of availability again from 20 January 2022. Up to 5 J seats per flight.

There's also availability if you need to travel onwards to Europe, e.g. SYD-BKK-CPH.



Beware of the travel insurance and vaccination/testing requirement for transits via Thailand.

Yeah, only Y at the moment on MEL-BKK and only from April 2022 when they relaunch flights on that route.

It may not still be the case, but pre-Covid J and F seats would often become available in the week before departure.
My last flight (SYD-BKK in March last year) was booked using Lifemiles only 3 days earlier.

Funny - I'm seeing lots of TG (SYD-BKK) in J available in March (the only month I checked) on UA but not on LM (no surprise there) and not on AC. I'm not really looking to book anything at the moment - just keeping an eye on the situation - hoping to use up the last of my LMs for something / anything - then that's it for me and LM (the love affair is over).

Another observation - searching (on AC) SYD-FRA shows SYD-BKK-FRA but searching SYD-BKK only (on AC) did not show any availability. However, both routes show up when searching on UA. I've never seen this on TG before and still nothing showing on LM (for same dates). Don't bother searching on SQ - as I only use SQ points for SQ fights and generally find the availability excellent (as long as you book very far in advance).

Though we plan ahead and mostly book the day inventory is released. Still finding it very difficult to find J awards. fortunately a lot of KF miles I have to use in the next few months.

Only in Y for Lifemiles and MileagePlus. I have 344,000 Lifemiles to burn in the next 6 months (unless I do the hotel booking and cancel trick) to extend it

Not sure what your final destination is - but consider AC (using LM) SYD-YVR in J is wide open in May-August then look for onward connections to Europe (on LX, AC, LH,... or via the US on UA)

Trying to get anywhere in South East Asia, Thailand, Malaysia or Singapore. I have even tried Japan but nothing. Hoping for May 2022 but nothing. Also looked for much later in the year and still can't find anything

AC / Aeroplan does not have it's own thread on LM but is under 'other FF programs' Until AC started selling discounted points during Covid this program was of little interest to Australians. I suspect this mega-sale was on one-off but keep your eye on any postings for AC. There is no way to earn AC points via credit card spend/transfer in OZ.

ohhhh no CC spend..... that is a shame.. Since LM is not happening at the moment, I am on the hunt for another airline points that i can try to book through

The mega launch sale was a one off, but they’ve had a couple 100% or 80% sales since. Excellent value.

May 2022 is pretty close in now for seats Same same as someone trying to find premium inventory on qantas now… there’s almost nothing left.
