Lounge Access changes pending that affect all?

Sp previously as a QP member flying on a BA flight out of JFK I had access to the BA business lounge...now I wont?

Glad I didn't bother to renew my QP membership. Price keeps going up, benefits keep going down.

Correct. For QP members - no access to BA lounges anymore (only the 'associated lounge in T3 Heathrow).

The only partner lounges are AA.

I have an update...

My sister called the Qantas Club today (she has no other status)... they said they have taken all reference to BA lounges off the website as it was causing confusion. This is because BA is changing over to Galleries Lounges. However, QF is working on whatever it is working on (I think it is in relation to lounge access at Heathrow - no mention Galleries lounges as a whole), you can still access Terraces and Executive Club lounges across the network (the few that are left). And as we already know, QF confirmed access to the 'associated' lounge in T3 prior to departure from there.

(Please be absolutely clear, I'm in no way having a go at you MEL_Traveller. Not at all.)

What a cop-out on QF's behalf. Their rules are causing confusion? Well stone the crows! Fix it. Make it clearer. It speaks volumes that the only way to make it clear is to shut up (ie. remove all reference entirely).

And as we all know telling a lounge agent "my friend's sister called QF and they said . . ." simply will not cut it.

(Again, not at all having a go at MEL_Traveller.)

How Very Unproffessional

Qantas seems to have gone to the Dogs of late when it comes to keeping people informed. Hope this gets sorted soon as have 5 Mel / LHR trips between now and Xmas

Come On Red Roo tell us what the hell is happening

I noted with interest that the current March edition of The Australian Way has an updated ad for joining the QP. Similar wording to the new website page and no mention whatsoever of BA.
The publishing deadline for this must have been quite a bit before the website was changed.

As a platinum you have no changes and can access any lounge bar the Concorde room.

All I can say us WTF - Qantas get your act together.

Such a comedy of errors, but who is laughing?

And they are at best pretty useless. You get one crummy complimentary drink. No food, no internet.

I remember being in the AA lounge in DFW. Ordered a burger from the bar and saw the bloke unwrap something and put in the the microwave. I enquired whether that was my burger for which they wanted roughly $10. It was. I said I'll pass on it and went to one of the many restaurants elsewhere in the terminal. With change from $10 I got an awesome burger and a beer.

All drinks are now complimentary (including alcoholic house brands) and you can use vouchers for more expensive tipples such as Grey Goose.

You are free to ask for more than one voucher (not that necessary anymore with the free stuff). Internet cards are also available free of charge.

I thought we actually got quite a good deal! The DFW Lounge (D?) is actually very nice - I prefer it much more to the Melbourne one. And the AAngels at the door are absolutely fantastic when it comes to irregular operations.

Some of Virgin's lounge access isn't much better..

Virgin's international lounge access for paid members is almost non-existent (ie limited to Koru clubs in NZ, when travelling domestically or trans tasman). But the important point is that unlike QF, Virgin has not sold memberships on the back of promises which they cannot now deliver.

Well... taking the devil's advocate role a bit: the website used to state very clearly that QP members had access to Terrace lounges, and did not mention Galleries lounges. And yet members were disappointed with getting turned away from the Terrace lounge, to which the clearly stated rules never guaranteed them access. Thus this whole discussion initially was about members expecting more benefits than the 'rules' as publicly stated they were allowed! Admittedly, the situation wasn't helped by the ambiguities of rebranding vs. creation of a new product when it comes to Terraces vs Galleries, and BA's acceptance of QP cards for entry for quite a long time.

not sure I quite follow... what they told my sister was that access is still available to Terraces and Executive Club. They are just not mentioned anymore (I'm assuming because there are so few of them left compared to the number of galleries lounges).

For all intents and purposes, you might as well remove Terraces and Exec club - there are only half a dozen left at best (MUC, FCO are a couple that spring to mind).

I can imagine a lot of people would go up to a Galleries Lounge and expect entrance, not appreciating the rebranding (that is, thinking they could just access any BA lounge)

This gets rid of that problem.

Qantas is still maybe working on other lounge access at Heathrow along the lines we saw earlier (immediate connecting flights).

(I wonder where they got the wording that removing access was to make it easier for members to understand - my earlier post on here maybe? (unfortunately mine was tongue-in-cheek example of worst practice, not best:)))
