Lounge Access changes pending that affect all?

The website update issues is another sign of how poorly QF gas handled the communication of this whole issue.

I work in the eCommerce field, it's not that hard to have some checks in place, and then you follow up with post release verification testing to make sure.

Re: Galleries access... NOT quite 'reinstated'?

What a shame! They just pulled the info from the website! I have 2 Problems with that:
I thought Mrs. Tyrolean could have use of the QF Club when she drops from PG when flying with BA. Mainly it would grant us family access when traveling with our 2 kids (as BA has a strict 1 guest policy).

The communication is a disaster:

Step 1: Deny access
Step 2: If somebody asks, tell it has never been there
Step 3: Admit that you "work on the problem"
Step 4: Wait for a long time
Step 5: Announce that the problem is solved (albeit only for one lounge out of many).
Step 6: Admit that you will need more time
Step 7: Silently remove all indicators that it have been on your website and run away...

Re: Galleries access... NOT quite 'reinstated'?

Slightly OT - but associated.
Arrival Lounge (Associated Lounge LHR T3) still focussed on "onward flight" for access eligibility.

Re: Galleries access... NOT quite 'reinstated'?

T3 is listed in the lounge section which has a new look.

Well picked up. I concur. According to that page, QF Golds and oneworld Sapphires can access the domestic Business lounges. If I'd seen this two hours ago I would have flashed my AA Platinum (Sapphire) card at the SYD T3 J lounge.

Your post made me delve further. Check out the "Eligible member type" and "Eligible oneworld status" headings on the SYD and MEL F lounge pages. It says QF Golds and oneworld Sapphires can access. In fact, by reading, even a Qantas Club member can access the F lounge, provided their next flight is on QF, BA or JQ. Even QF Business passengers an access the F lounge.

Next, I checked out the Singapore F lounge page. It has the same eligibility: Gold, Sapphire, Qantas Club. Even a JQ business max passenger and a QF or BA Business passenger can access the F lounge.

Have I missed something?

There's been an update to the update.

Lounge Locations | Australia | Sydney Domestic | Domestic Business

The first thing that jumps out at me is Platinum guest privilleges to domestic Business lounges has been halved. Now only one guest, not two. Second, there is not provision for arrivals access, as Red Roo explained was a compromise after the removal of anytime access. If this sticks, this is huge.

Standby for "enhancement".

Then there's the LHR AA T3 Arrivals lounge. As paginjoan points out, access is still possible with just a Qantas Club card with an onward QF, BA or JQ flight (because JQ flies out of LHR).

Said it before and I'll say it again. Look at the "Eligibility and Access" page! It is vastly more relevant than the generic information listed against lounge location.

That may be the case, and indeed it shows the information which we are accustomed to, i.e. WP's with 2 guests.
but there is pretty nasty conflicting stuff on the same website now. One or both is now wrong......

What happens if/when QF staff are referred to the incorrect data? - Attack of the Lounge Dragons?

I've been accused of being totally illogical on AFF in the past. However, I feel rock solid that "eligibility and access" is the logical place to find the access rules and "lounge location" is not. If a lounge dragon were to go to lounge locations then I would point them to eligibility and access.

There are obviously changes under way which are being done on the fly as opposed to behind closed doors then being released when proofed, logic does not come into it when things are in flux.

This is huge, and not in a good way.

I think we'd all appreciate it if Qantas were to clarify exactly what end state they were heading for here (and how about getting a test server so that you can release a consistent set of changes to the website rather than the conflicting pages that exist during this current state of flux?)

Re: Galleries access... NOT quite 'reinstated'?

Given it is a material change, if it does happen I expect six months notification.

It will be interesting how this thread dynamic changes now that the changes are actually impacting us more important types and not just the riff raff ;)

I sense a new thread is going to be required ... quite a long one if the ATA removal thread was anything to go by.

I was just about to say the same! Beat me to it by a whisker! ;)

Re: Galleries access... NOT quite 'reinstated'?

Needless to say I have spun of the relevant content into a new thread, its becoming bigger than the original thread focus.

It also says the guest must be travelling so the wording is the same as the International business lounge. My guess is that is a stuff up by someone putting it online too early. so lets not jump the gun, just yet.

I'm with Medhead - the eligibility page is what we should be referring to.

Sure, for now, but it's a fairly reasonable assumption that the changes that are being made are going to filter through to that page as well ...

Ok I'll look at the optomistic side here and say it isn't a change, but rather a cough up by someone re-designing the lounge pages and they have cut and pasted the text. Designers won't read the contents of the text, rather that it will fill the hole. someone has published it online without reading the contents of each page.

The wording is identical to the INT J lounge.

I'm going to go with the alternate assumption - that someone messed up!

To me it seems they have copied and pasted the rules for international business lounge instead of the domestic business lounge. It is a bit disconcerting that there are different rules displayed on different parts of their website. Hopefully Qantas will sort it out soon.

Re: Galleries access... NOT quite 'reinstated'?

From a process perspective I sort of expect the sub detail to be more accurate. Someone has set up the new pages and sourced information specific to those pages - I don't expect them to just make it up.
